EpisparhGalMap shows you info only for know systems AKA systems you've been in.

GalMap highlights the states of systems I've not yet been to just fine. But if I filter for Expansion, it highlights none.

Since FDev increased the multi-crew capacity on some ships to accommodate a total of 4 players, has anyone heard any news on possibly getting a 3 bay fighter hanger?

Aetoate BaceLooking for systems in expansion but when I applied the map filter, it filtered out every system. Does this mean no systems are in expansion and if so, should I expect them to be at a later point?

I may be wrong here, but expansion has been like this a while. Expansion state is classed as a 'secondary state' and is only picked up on the system where the faction in question has 75+% influence. However, to compound this, expansion requires positive swings in happiness, economy and even sec. So, 99% of the time there will also be faction state of Boom and Civil Liberty going on at the same time. Because Galmap will only show one system state, these primary states trump the secondary state of expansion.
Inara, on the other hand, will list all of the individual installations held by any faction in an expansion state. This might help but you're more likely to want to find the source of that expansion, in which case you need to drill into each faction to find it.
This is how I understand it, but I'm sure if I'm wrong you kind folk will set me straight.

Data > Click Star Systems tab > Click Expansion > Search > Click the System from the list (there's many) > Scroll down to see all the factions of that system and their active states

Not all factions will be in an active state, but using the tool gives you a system with at least one faction in the state you're looking for.

That's right. It'll give you the expanding faction, but the system itself is not necessarily in a state of expansion - so no looking for specific HGEs etc.

A better way to find out via Inara would be Data -> Minor Factions -> Click in 'Just Controlling Factions' and in 'Expansion' -> Search.
This brings up the INF for each faction and the star system. Any over 75% will be in expansion.

This is good to know thanks. I doubt I will be doing expansion grinding now that I have looked more into it because I mostly play solo at the moment so no squadron bonus.

Aleksander MajjamI simply go to a system that has an expanding faction with more than a population of 1 billion and will find HGE. I will usually find them 25LY or less out from Shinrarta.
I'll contribute, giving some bits of my own observations. First - faction states doesn't matter (almost), any specific state just increases the chances and quantity a bit. So, any system with 1bn+ could be fine. Second - ditch the Alliance systems.

@Quill
@Saka

So I'll have to amend my statement a bit after remembering something. I actually cannot speak for expansion systems. The only checkmark I used for ALL my HGE about a jump or two away from home is BOOM/HI-POP/FED or IMP or IND. These systems always seem to spawn HGE. I'll collect whatever it has and then simply convert it to other HGE at a trader instead of trying to find specific HGE to fill your cargo.

I cannot remember the LAST time I visited an alliance system for HGE, lol.

Exquisite Crystals are nowhere to be found, and I need a heckload of Focus Crystals (tier 3) to reload Gauss.

(and be a murderer, yeah)

Exquisite Focus Crystals show up as mission rewards. They don't show up in HGEs.
