Aleksander MajjamHere's a question. Can overheating push you over the 100% power cap? Are there weapons that can directly do it? Am I right saying the more damage my power plant takes that it makes my power cap go up? I'm doing some experimentation and I am dangerously close to the cap. I don't want it to start shutting down systems because I fire a salvo of packhounds and it heats me up like I'm in the sahara with no water.

If you have enough power at 20% heat you will have enough at 1000%. Power consumption do not increase with heat.

The only way your power output can drop is by taking damage to power plant.

Yep. Heat levels do not change power output levels. Though, once the power plant (or any module) gets to about ~80% integrity it will have intermittent failures and modules will shutdown and reboot according to your power priorities. I believe when it reaches ~40% integrity it only outputs at half power. Something like that.

Edit: Ooof... ninja'd by Saka. I'm sure her numbers are more accurate.

Hm. Can heat>100% kill the PP that already has 0% integrity with the 'damage tick' so the ship will go woo boom?

EpisparhHave you thought about using SCB?

Yes, but for them to work well, I'd need to stack more resistances.

Thanks for further thoughts on flight assist all, will definitely give it a shot if and when I do get me a new controller.

As it is, I get by in casual solo/sometimes public play as I do. Actually meeting anyone in the latter so far seems a rare occasion! Came across a few of the harmless variety yesterday, as I happened to pass by Maia, where no doubt they were picking up some meta-alloys.

I sometimes come across players when I farm for epsilon data on console and I'm still playing it to the last update in September

also I'm pretty gentle with the bigger ships since they are slow like the FC and anaconda

Btw I don't have FC but a friend let me pilot the FC despite them being German while using share play: play as host

Yuna SakashiroDon't expect to survive in open if your ship is not engineered. Regardless of what people say about skills, ED is first and foremost a numbers game, i.e. your survival depends on the ganker's DPS vs. your shield and hull hitpoints, and duration of exposure to enemy fire. If your ship is big and slow, the ganker will have 100% time on target and burn through your unengineered shields in a matter of seconds. It's simple math really, and the only way to avoid a rebuy is to submit to the interdiction and then high- or low-wake out as soon as possible. Don't even bother to deploy your hardpoints, it will just waste valuable time. Low-waking is an option only if your ship is very fast or has a higher mass lock factor than your opponent's ship. For example, if you're flying a Python and the ganker is flying a FDL, you can low-wake. If the ganker is flying a Cutter, you can't. You can look up mass lock factors on the front page of EDSY. Memorizing them will help you make the right decision faster.

But at the end of the day, with an unprepared ship it's better to stay in solo. NPC interdictions are easy to evade, so you can survive even if your ship is made of cardboard.

When using the bathroom in your cutter puts you over the power limit.

someone in my anaconda seeing me shit in the airlock:
"why are you doing that?"
me: "all the bathrooms are taken and i need to shit!"

EpisparhThe best method is to combine both FA on and off for maximum advantage. Unfortunately, that is not possible with kbd+m

To hear KbM players having this issue is so strange. At least with a controller, I can map FA on/off to right stick push in and left stick push in at the same time. It's almost a single button press.

The pvpers I know all fly perma FA-off on kbd+m. It's almost a pre-requisite. They fly with relative mouse on and mouse x-axis set to yaw (roll on keyboard) so that aiming feels more like normal FPS control and doesn't give the over-compensating thing that HOTAS suffers from in FA-off.

Not into PVP myself and too happy with my stick n throttle to go back to kb+m and my skills at FA-off are strictly limited to kiting and turning.

Heard too much yelling 'FDev should remove FA from the game', so I'm going to say that they should remove FA-off from the game, lol

Ugh. I'm at Rukbat B, trying to teach myself to supercharge. Following all the online instructions and stuff, which seem straightforward enough, but so far, nothing seems to give Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

E.g., https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtsrmbdQpSI or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vnEoFOSHIY , that's exactly what I (think I) am doing, but no luck so far. Hmm. With them, it seems to go quickly, too.
