KurakilWhat is the "standard" for ship sensors? D-Rated Long-Range? D-Rated Lightweight? A-rated Lightweight?

There is no standard. We make jokes about people that just like the D. But you are right -- that's the lightest one. Depends on what you are doing. Do you need to see people from far away? Or are you happy seeing them after they are behind you and firing? Perhaps you are running cold with boost and side thrusters on hot keys? There are dodge technics for all weapons... but that isn't what you were asking either.

Mainly for combat. I like the increased speed/maneuverability that lightweight would give, but I wish the range was about 1.5km-2km longer. *sigh* A-Rated Lightweight seems to be a reasonable balance. The extra mass compared to D-Rated Lightweight only seems to lower ship speed by 1m/s (2m/s for the Hauler).
I currently have D-Rated Long Range.

Probably going to replace:
Armor: Military Grade Composite - Lightweight/AngledPlating => Lightweight Alloy - HeavyDuty/DeepPlating
Sensors: D-Rated/LongRange => A-Rated/Lightweight

Unless there is a really good reason not to, I think the performance gains are worth it. Open to suggestions.

This is slightly off topic but I stopped in Delphi today and all the mega ships are red with damage signals, pirate attack signals are everywhere, did something happen I was sure this morning things were not that crazy down there??

Check out my main sidewinder. Right now, it is perfect for being fast, as well as being heart breaker. This week I have tested many Hydrae defensive capabilities.

Greetings Cmdrs
I have a 1 person (loner, lol) PMF, and another person(s) is definitely working for it, yet I have no idea who.
Is there any cunning ways of leaving a message somewhere, or finding out who, so we could (platform permitting) meet up?
I did think I could upload an image of a message (in character / roleplay) on here, that might pop up for them when checking inara, but it seems a bit clunky, and I wondered if there was a better way.
Cheers o7

@Bluecrash,

Okay. Your squadron, logbook, and lore pages are.. wow.

Anybody know a way to make EDHM compatible with EDFX? Running it on Odyssey so I can't use the built in HUD color changer.

It depends on the type of ship.

On small ships where agility is key for survivability, lightweight alloy is the best armor option, because you can apply heavy duty deep plating without increasing weight. On big ships I would choose military grade, also with heavy duty deep plating. If you have good shields, the only damage that will ever reach your hull is absolute from phasing sequence weapons, so resistances don't matter.

For sensors, the only advantage of A-rated is their improved ability to resolve cool running targets. I never found this particularly useful, so I always pick D-rated. If your ship can afford the weight increase, the long range mod will make more ships appear on your navigation panel, making it easier to acquire high value targets in a RES.

Why do you need to run EDFX as well as EDHM. I don’t see anything that the first does that the second doesn’t do better. I find it just works real well out of the box in EDO

EDHM is a HUD mod, EDFX is a reshade mod. That being said EDFX does have a HUD color changer but it only works for Either horizons or the original. If you know of any reshade feature in EDHM I would love to use it but none to my knowledge.

Hey all.. Any opinions on Reshade.me? Is it permitted to use by Frontier? Is it any good, perhaps a better choice?
TIA

EDHM also incorporates reshaders but with more tweaking. Try ditching the EDFX. It’s a very old solution and never designed for EDO

Where can I find the reshade settings?

I’m not an expert on this but ED uses shaders to give colour to everything from hud to interior lighting etc. reshaders just allow you to change these colours. Some, including EDHM allow you to do this on the fly. EDHM does it via its shipyard where you can apply a theme to any ship in yr fleet. When you fly that ship all colours are set to the new theme. Can’t be more technical than that but try EDHM on its own and see what is missing.
