Yes. I still have them too. Credit farming can yield insane results in a relatively short period of time these days.

Just looked on Steam. 1166 hours on my primary account. Considerably less hours on my alt accounts. Once I had acquired a fleet carrier on my primary account, I used it to help my alt accounts get setup for AFK farming. Then I just had them AFK farm until they could all buy carriers.

I wasn't aware of this:
"No NPC Pilot Crew
If there is no NPC Pilot crew, the player can control the fighter while leaving the ship on "autopilot". The ship will follow the fighter and fire its turreted weapons (based on "fire at will", last-targeted before deploying, etc.). It will also use shield cell banks if needed. If the player switches back to controlling their ship, the fighter will behave similarly. The uncontrolled fighter cannot dock itself with the ship."
Maybe we can save ourselves the trouble of maintaining crew? Hmmm.

I'm struggling to find a use even for one carrier.
I have an alt owning an 80Ly DBX and a mining Python. Was considering to send her into the black as carrier crew, exploring and mining tritium while my main keeps the carrier funded by earning easy credits in the bubble. But then I thought, what's the point? There's nothing out there. It's like a trip to Beagle Point; you arrive and think, now what? All that grind to visit a tourist beacon that looks exactly like any other tourist beacon.

EpisparhThere is no reason to farm and definitely not while AFK. You can make reasonable amount of money just by enjoying the game.
This. I’m quite vocal about just enjoying the game without gaming it. Yeah, sure, play how you want but grinding for stuff in game is the surest way to get jaded.
There is no end game, only the journey. Hoarding FCs is not going to keep you in the game.
(With aplologies to all here that have seen a lot of Quillmonkey has left/Quillmonkey has joined on repeat lately - my patience has limits)

Yuna SakashiroLight-HawkNever noticed this before but there is a size 8 frame shift drive in the game. Currently there are no ships available that can utilize it so there is no way to purchase one. What I also found to be interesting is that you can look up who sells them here on inara and the only places that sell it are all surface settlements. No stations sell it including the Jameson Memorial station.
Check the last update time. All the class 8 drives cost 0 Cr and were last updated more than a year ago. Looks like a temporary glitch in EDDN that lead to some stale data in Inara's database.
That is more an EDDN glitch though. I've actually found at least the 8C and 8D in game, and their price was what you'd expect it to be, not 0. I'm looking for the 8A, which I actually want to buy. Seems to only appear in military ground settlements and on outposts, I had no luck so far though, they're ultra rare.

You can buy FSD as large as your ship can fit. Even if you find size 8 you cannot buy it.
