Down to Earth Astronomy on YOUTUBE on how to get a Guardian FSD Booster but I need some help
I've followed the video to the end but I'm having a problem at the end of the process. I went to Smoot Station in the Chona System and unlocked the FSD Booster module. Then used EDDB to find a station that sold it...so jumped to the Bohr Gateway in the Mehuenomici system but no luck there is no Guardian booster listed in out fitting.... so am I missing out something?

So you unlocked it via the tech broker?

It should be under out fitting as fsd booster category under optional internals.

Hm, the station with Tech broker also should sell the tech that you unlocked. Technically speaking all stations that have guardian tech broker should sell FSD booster and all unlocked guardian tech.

Yuna SakashiroNo, they'll be moved to the nearest rescue ship. When the first Maelstrom arrived, even fleet carriers were moved out of the way.

That's relief, I thought that I need to start looking for parking space at FCs. Thanks

Where are you now, what's your current jump range, and which size of the booster do you need? Are you playing the live game or legacy?



I'm still at Smoot station....I'm playing on XBOX in solo mode

Yesterday an fdl (plasma/rails), diamonback(Gromie/autocannons), orca( torps/corrosive autos), chieftain (plasma rammer)were ganking ax-pilots..so as usual i did the Cephy thing and fought them all on a silent running hull tanking plasma ramming python...the fdl died the chieftain had a rough repair bill and my python had to highwake with 15% hull. However it felt like triumph over [lovely people]. They won't fight regular dudes like me unless they outnumber you. However their lack of flight skills explained to me why they were attacking ax pilots. It was shameful to watch old players doing worse than NPCs

great job i see much ax missle racks, did they doing a good job ? so far not tested enough.. only a pair on the clipper but the class 3 hardpoints there are terrible for using them..

Those are Sirius AX missile racks. They have just enough punch to kill Orthrus without premium ammo given that you will nullify shutdown field. My first four attempts were with gauss shards but they do not have enough punch without premium ammo - Orthrus' shutdown field also releases something that makes the instance behaves as a maelstrom - AKA guardian tech is toast after few seconds even if you successfully use shutdown field neutralizer. I guess a combo of AX racks and AX MCs will work too but only if you avoid shutdown - else it will run out.

P.S. I am talking about solo kill. Should be far easier with a wing of 2+.

What does the Orthrus actually do in-game? Just collecting items in an instance?

i read they are actual present in ax combat zones.. would be nice to have more infos like speed, hearts, shields and combat behavior.. getting a probe from them is on my to do list also rebuilding a gunship fir ax cz.. seems to be good candidat.. thx for the hints epi

Yes, they collect a probe and leave if you stay undetected - they have a very narrow sight. They are present only in systems under Thargoid Alert - they are reconnaissance craft which prepares the invasion.

As for its mechanics:

Orthrus do not have hearts. The "screw" releases caustic substance so if you pass through green cloud you will catch it.

If it is attacked or see a human ship the Orthrus immediately deploy shield, release shutdown field and the instance becomes hazardous environment same as maelstrom (AKA guardian tech is fried in few sec). After that it starts to spin to deploy as much caustic substance as possible and calls for help. (so far I've seen 3-7 scouts jumping in) Roughly 40 seconds after detection/attack it jumps out.
