Overall, your build should be way enough to try take out a Cyclops alone...
Maybe try a bit and fail sometimes, but a ship like that should do it almost alone, hardly no real skill required.


Confirmed. I have no skill (at FA off) and have many Clops kills and a few Medusa solo. I don't mess with Basis.

I find the Type-10 with turreted AX MCs is nice for mopping up lots of scouts, but it's a slow clumsy ox that's not well suited to interceptors. Technically, it's possible to git gud with pretty much anything and kill stuff, just depends on whether you prefer your challenge to be fighting the enemy or fighting your own ship's (lack of) handling.

I have a cheap type-10 which I have A-rated and flew once. Since then it is a module storage. If I apply engineering to it it will be waste of materials. Cutter, Vette, Anaconda and even type-9 are better in almost anything.

I can understand that some people like its aesthetics, but practically this ship is better only than Asp Scout.

DescartesFirst steps would involve a handful of on-foot missions to finance your first ship, a stock Artemis suit, then go salad hunting for a couple of hours and go straight to T10, outfit that with stock AX MCs and stock HRP/MRPs and mil-hull. The AX experience will most likely be miserable, and Interceptors probably won't be doable unless you engage them in a NHSS5 (yields cyclops that allows to be scanned, so that AX turrets can target the heart) - still not sure if a non-engineered T10 would survive it long enough though.

Does this mean that a T10 is now useful for something and worth having?

I see on the blurb that it was designed with the 'goid war in mind.

If so can anyone point me in the direction of a build


The only reason I suggested the T10 is because I read some players were quite happy with it as an AX MC turret boat, and given how many internals it has if you fill it up with armour it'll probably last longer than your average unengineered small/medium pad ship normally the meta for AX combat.

T10 would be the last ship I'd choose for serious AX combat though - slow max speed, turns like an oil tanker, hardpoint placements, and generally just being a sitting duck which is great if you're a Thargoid. One of those mysteries in Elite why Frontier thought this would be a great AX ship... it's a decent RES miner though... I tried to include it in various roles into my fleet but there are better ships for pretty much every role. It does look imposing though when in an SRV or on-foot so there's that.

For AX, I'm flying a shieldless FdL. Don't see that very often (in fact, not at all so far, most seem to go for the meta Chiefs/Kraits/Cutters), hardpoint convergence is great and I find easier to aim fixed weapons in this ship, and with 5 of them you fit the full set of 4 AX weapons and the flak launcher. Utility slots are filled up with engineered heatsinks and a xeno scanner.

Currently most of the fights are in Imeut - but since it cannot be won you may just go whenever you want.

Have fun! It will be pointless anyway, tomorrow is war progress reset.

Yuna SakashiroI've just started an experiment: I've wiped my alt and will use it to play the game without engineering and in open only. I want to find out if that's still possible. No mats gathering, no engineer grind. Just A-rated ships.

Last night I bought a Cobra Mk III. Not fully A-rated yet, but once it is, I'll take it to Thargoid turf and try some rescue missions. Very curious how that will work out.

You will have hard time with interdictions from Interceptors. A rated cmk3 cannot clear fsd inhibition by slow interceptor and the tanking capacity is joke.

The GEA (when it was still around) considered the Cobra (A-rated, unengineered) a baseline ship for gank evasion. Evading Thargoids is quite similar, so it might work. But maybe it requires a build with HRPs instead of passenger cabins.

I'm going to find out soon.

Well, if your goal is to high wake it is doable but I think you said passanger missions. If you get interdicted you will need to high wake and try your luck later.
