2) If engaged in PP2, the player has to decide whether to help Faction X defend the system from the Thargoids, or take advantage of the attack to further the goals of their own faction....

In other words help Thargoids to wipe out the faraction X so they can slaughter you next.
Right. Good plan... if you are suicidal.

RawnuRe Frags with Screening Shell:

I did some calculations on Frags and my initial set-up of four large and two medium on the Python Mk2, all with High Capacity and Screening Shell. For the large Frags this means: +11% DPS and ROF, +214% sustained DPS & ROF, -10% burst intervall, +100 ammo clip size & maximum, -50% reload time.

With four pips to WEP this will remove the shields of a stock FdL in 1 second and the armor in one second as well (per Coriolis). The stock Federal Corvette is gone in 2 seconds respectively. Against an engineered FdL it will take 9 seconds to strip the shields and 11 seconds o strip the armor.

That's for a stock ship with a Class 4 SHIELD GENERATOR, everyone knows that Kinetic Weapons have poor anti-shield and Armour Piercing capabilities, if you need to throw thousand of shells to a target to get the shield down on a target with no Resist, it makes my point, you're better off with a good set of Beam Lasers.

Allow me to laugh. My Krait MK II X4 2B MODIFIED GUARDIAN PLASMA CHARGER does this in ONE Salvo, Apart some calculations, do you have any PvP results vs properly engineered adversaries? I mean a ship with a properly engineered Resistance augmented Shield and MODULE REINFORCEMENT PACKAGES?

What you describe is the equivalent of a Competant Ship in a CZ providing it won't maneuver and that there aren't any other ships firing at you...

As I said this is ONLY theorical Potential DMG, and with an ammunition as slow as the Frag is, this won't be achieved unless you fire at point blank range vs a cooperative target and don't miss.

So here is a little reminder: Your salvo is going to travel at 667 M/s vs 6000 M/s for a 2B MODIFIED GUARDIAN PLASMA CHARGER, valid for both the Class 2 and class 3, the Armour percing remains at 30 vs 110 whatever engineering level while the PLASMA CHARGER posses ABSOLUTE Damage Type, immune to Damage Resistances for BOTH shield and armour.

So you might well take down a Competent FDL and Anaconda in a CZ fast, it's going to be another story vs and Elite FDL, Vipers and Vulture, simply because they accelerate and maneuver too fast for slow rounds and have much stronger Shield Resistance, having a Damage Fall Off 800m longer won't change that, your Maximum Range is 1000M shorter and the Fall Off curve is in favor of the Guardian Weapon.

I keep saying, this weapon is good for ships that cannot be fitted with stronger weapons (Fer-de-Lance, Mamba, Python Mk II), such as a 3D and 2 B Guardian Plasma Chargers because they don't have the Power Plant to feed them, When I have time I might well fit a second Corvette with these...

Allow me to mention one small, but very important thing - the ships and ship builds are primarily meant to provide fun for their owners. If somebody want to have fun with PvE frag cannons build, there is absolutely no point to recommend a completely different set of weapons or test it against PvP opponent. It's like somebody asking for suggestions for a dirt bike and are told that they should buy a supercar instead.

i think its just better test your builds yourself and change/improve as needed. Farming ship materials is no longer a pain, thanks to one update as it used to be, and you don't use up too much either. Same on foot stuff aswell.

agreed mate, and indeed from an accomplished Cmdr with the ranks to back up your opinion. Its excellent advice.

Just started fitingi and engineering a full Guardian Plasma Charger Corvette, plan is 3 X 3D Fixed and 2 X 2B Fixed, Power Draw is 13.56, so I already have engineered the Power Plant 8A POWER PLANT Overcharged ︎︎︎︎︎ Monstered, a 5F EXPERIMENTAL WEAPON STABILISER make it possible to fit more than 4 weapons...

The other two weapons will be 2 X Class 1 Beam Laser [Fixed] Long range ︎︎︎︎︎ Thermal Vent. I expect the Shield strength to be slightly lower than that of my MULTI-CANNON Corvette and in any case, I'm out of 7A PRISMATIC SHIELD GENERATOR, but the engineered 6A already has more strength than the stock 7E SHIELD GENERATOR...

I'm on my way to Synuefe EU-Q c21-10 to farrm the necessary materials including what is needed for Synthesis of Premium Ammo.

Good advise. It took me ages to find a balanced fit for my Corvette and I guess the next one won't be much different.

For me, only multicannons on a ship are an option. This is the T 10 with 9 multicannons. Some with high capacity magazines and heat bursts. Really fun. However, I quickly run out of ammunition and have eliminated comparably fewer NPCs than with a PythonMKII with 6 Frag Cannons in the same time. If you stay close enough to the NPC ships with a Python MKII with 6 Frag Cannon (it can do that very well), it doesn't matter what rank the NPC has. One more thing. My experience so far in open mode is that people in PvP and gankers have never used beam lasers or multicannons. They use Optimized Plasmas (not Guardian Plasmas), Pack Hound Luncher, Imperial Hammer Railgun and Mine Luncher.

You can try to get a newbie to believe this but I do 5/6 or even more CZs a day and know for a fact that there is a clear difference between a Competent and an Elite, especially if you're after the top targets which you should be, meaning non cooperative targets, maneuvering FDL, Viper and Vulture with a slow ammo.

The T 10 is a turkey for that matter hardly a good comparison...

People doing PvP don't have to deal with more than one vs one scenario, they can afford those compromise with lower Shield strength, it's another story when you're after an Elite FDL with a Corvette or Krait MK II and got shot by 2 or 3 other ships like I saw in the worst CS I've been.

The Python MK II is not the only ship to be able to lag on a target with ease, I have little issue with my Corvette and that's thanks to an excellent roll rate, Yaw being moderate to allow for precise correction, something the Python MK II can't do due to the absence of curves for the controls, I should know, I got one.

So you can advertise this fit all you want at least you should be honest and tell the drawbacks, it's perhaps the best you think of for the Python MK II, some other ships can do better, including the Krait MK II, that's the class 7 Power Plant for you...

Debate over weapon loadouts is useless because Duck Gatlins are the best weapon.

Firing at 60 ducks per second, the DG-6 Quacker makes short work of any target. The ducks can be equipped with depleted uranium bills for better penetration, or ginsu steak knives for extra shredding. So devastating is the DG-6 that the target is eliminated before it hears the distinctive QUAK-AK-AK of the DG-6 when it fires.

The DG-6, for when you need to get your ducks in a row at 3600 rounds per minute.

I thought Pack-Hounds were the best weapons in the game because they target both the in-game ship and the pilot's (both firing and target) graphics card, no?
Perhaps the best weapon is the friends we made along the way?

In any case, the best weapons are the ones that get the job done. Some jobs require one type of weapon and other jobs require a different kind of weapon. Almost as if utility and function are a part of engineering, not to mention the fact that some people choose form over function just because. Believe me, I've seen the way some people mod their RL vehicles... it's definitely a choice.

Besides, last I checked, the best weapons are the ones in CQC. ;-)
