Yea, you were outpaced by other players who generated more influence than you. It looks like Sothis had nearly 200 pilots in system over the past 24 hours,so it was likely a combination of a concerted effort and complete randomness that more people chose missions to help the opposing faction.

And like Episparh mentioned, there is not much individuals can do if one or more squadrons mobilize in support of their chosen faction.

EpisparhOne more thing:
https://inara.cz/elite/minorfaction/78642/
Supporters 156 / 12, 156 in squadron and 12 individuals

https://inara.cz/elite/minorfaction/27615/
Supporters 39 / 729
Only 39 in squadron and 729 individuals

Squadrons are usually coordinated while individuals are not. So this is probably your answer, if they see that the war can be lost they mobilize x4 more players and push harder.

What smaller squadrons usually do is to search for allies which are not currently engaged in heavy BGS conflicts but it rarely helps to alter the end result, especially vs. large groups.

I got you, so in the end it's really a numbers game. Oh well that's disappointing but not unexpected. Ty for answering.

Edit: oh and one worthwhile mention. While indeed, there were many in Sothis, it's also the back half of the famous Robigo run, so if you look at the drill down, many of the vessels were passenger craft, mostly Python, making their money grind.

Yeah, ED is full of stories like this. BGS and Powerplay are games of numbers and coordination.

Super Short Version:
Do missions for your preferred faction to increase their influence.

So that's what "Influence instead of full payout" is all about.

I have not paid much attention to minor fractions nor their silly squabbles. Done missions for a specific fraction only to get the engineering going etc.

What about dropping off charts or DNA data? Is this somehow connected to fractions influence too?
I was not sure but I have always avoided pinkos, just in case it helps those lunatics.

Yes, dropping exploration/bio data and bounties help the factions that is in control of the asset where it is sold.

Killing security patrols undermine the controlling faction. ... And many other rules.

That rabbit hole is way too deep and do not provide any reward to individual commander.

EpisparhIn BGS war what actually matters is the numbers of CZs won and their type. So quantity of supporters and the play time they put in matters.
Ground CZs are more effective and faster than space CZ.

Yeah that's what I thought too, I did ground cz, high intensity. Like over and over, what im getting is there was just a whole lot pushing the other side it seems.

Edit : though I suppose the money isn't too bad of a runner up prize, those ground bonds add up!

This is the wrong way around - for a given intensity, space CZs are significantly more effective than ground CZs for winning a war day. According to all testing I've heard about including in my own group. The most efficient way to win a war is to grind out as many space low CZs as possible/bearable. Ground CZs are more of a tactical move, since they decide who the settlement where they're happening will be controlled by after the war ends.

Has anyone tried filling a Type-8 with fuel tanks and heat sinks to see how fast it can go?
That's my plan for next week.

HIP 36601 body C1A ---------- Polonium ----------
HIP 36601 body C1D ---------- Ruthenium
HIP 36601 body C3B ----------Tellurium
HIP 36601 body C5A --------- Technetium

>>>

Since they introduced Scorpion, I forgot about Scarab, it is so much more manageable, it makes farming Raw materials easier...

>>>

Impossible to find any material on HIP 36601 body C1D, even on known coordinates, did something change again?

Orrere 2 B Anaconda Crash Site... There are 3 times more Cargo Racks than previously, a real feast, the terrain is just as difficult as before so collection is hard when the canisters hides behind an obstacle but there is a lot of Grade 4 and 3 Raw Materials.

You dont need srv anymore. Use remote flak launcher and collector limpets. You dont even need to land for collecting raw materials

This is extremely accurate. I am not joking about there being an 86 page manual on the bgs. Frankly it sounds super interesting and what got me interested was there were allegedly protections that made it possible for small groups to compete with people no-lifeing the game but after I kept looking im seeing those were dropped. I'm wondering if there might be hope in the new pp2.0 but, I certainly won't hold my breath.

Still, the very fact that the bsg exists is pretty interesting as a concept. I look forward to the day everyone can take part, and have something more than money grinding to do.

I never knew that phrase "Fuel scooping" can sound sooooo sooo good.

Wakey-wakey Thinder!

I found him sleeping in a FC, parked close to Prai Hypoo TX-B.

I tried this method once or twice on HR 3230 but failed to make it work, I guess I got to try again, for the time being, I'm sorted.

I'm nearly sure you can fit only ONE fuel tank per ship as for the heat sinks, you have 4 UTILITY MOUNTS on the Type 8.

If you're after speed and do trade routes, you can lose weight by fitting a smaller fuel tank (4 C) and limit the number of heat sinks to 2, normally she shouldn't overheat anyway and you'll still have enough fuel for 2/3 jumps even without a fuel scoop, I don't have one on my freighters and I'm doing just fine...

My bet is that you would either hit the border of the star system instance after which your ship would be brabenported a few thousand Ls back, or the game would crash.
