Silver TafferAh, thanks for the quick reply Rayman. Looks like my alt Cmdr will have to be patient a little longer

Got one a while ago. Nice boat but as usual, you need to replace/upgrade practically everything in the stock version. Power plant is extremely weak, you will have overheating problems and so on. The way it handles the SCO drive is nice.

All MODIFIED GUARDIAN PLASMA CHARGER Corvette: Not so Practical.

First thing, my original plan to fit 3 X Class 3 MODIFIED Guardian Plasma Charger couldn't happen since the Class 3 are only Standard, inferior to the MODIFIED Class 2.

I tried to fir 2 X Class 1 MODIFIED GUARDIAN PLASMA CHARGER with a 3C BEAM LASER [FIXED] but it didn't work out that much, at the end of the day, I got 5 X Class 2B MODIFIED GUARDIAN PLASMA CHARGER [FIXED] and 2 X 1E BEAM LASER [GIMBALLED] Long range ︎︎︎︎︎ Thermal Vent.

The fit is awesome from 1000M to <> 700M where the positioning of the weapons become a problem especially against small targets, shot is spread too wide and many rounds doesn't hit the target, particularly when you try to hit a pancake type from the front, in that aspect the Multi-Cannons is better.

In short, the ship has tons of shield to spare although one of the Shield Cell banks had to go because of the 5F EXPERIMENTAL WEAPON STABILISER, I have a lot of extra Power, and experimented with 2 X 0I POINT DEFENCE fitted at the upper back, I still don't know if they really keep the attackers away.

I need to play more with this ship to be fully affirmative but a few sorties in Extraction sites allowed me to come to this conclusion; the Krait MK II and the Multi-Cannon Corvette weaponry seems easier to use.

My tip: The Corvette is an awesome ship for CZs but this fit is perhaps not what suits them best.

Need more testing.

Can’t we all just agree to have fun in whichever ways we like… I highly doubt that a new player to Elite will be particularly concerned with running decimal point maths to determine that they want a 2D FSD and a stat increase that would barely show up on the in-game displays over actually jumping anywhere with their ship.

I went with double shot frags on my alt’s Krait for the fun, not because it was “the most efficient”.

No matter what the game is, there is one formula for having a good time.

   More DAKKA
+ Louda BOOMZ
   Better WAAAGH!

Explosives are only fun if you are not the person on the receiving end*.

But outside of that particular scenario, I agree with the statement.

*Or you’re goofing around in a private session with a friend.

Normally, the player has a target limit, and only 2-3 foes will target them at once. In some instances, all enemies in range will instantly change their target to the player often leading to the player being attacked by upwards of six enemies at once even if several allies are still nearby. This is assumed to be a bug with AI targeting priority. In most instances enemies will return to fighting different targets after a short time.
Conflict Zone (Signal Source)

This sums up my experience, add to that an hostile Capital Ship popin' in and once a sudden You don't have enough shields with your Krait MK II despite the fact that this ship has more than an FDL...

That's where my Multi-Cannon Corvette reigns supreme, btw, I came across a Special Ops Vulture, a bit tougher but went down like the rest.

Gain another 1% COMBAT Elite Rank 1.

If the above post says what I do, don’t mind me. I can’t view that one.

So Frontier went into a bit more details into colonization mechanics on their stream - only a short(er) summary from me, but basically you can claim a system from anywhere within/up to 10ly using a station contact, the BGS faction you “bought” the claim from (no details on possible costs) will give you a beacon to drop into in the next 24 hours if nobody has staked a claim yet, then colonization carrier ship arrives and you throw materials (commodities probably) at it to build primary starport, itself subject to a time restriction to finish it.

From there you can then continue setting up the system as you like, planetary locations can be placed where you want them to be (providing it is a suitable world) or just continue chaining to your desired location. BGS faction you bought the claim from will be brought along for your desires so you can take one you like away from the concerns of other political interference (assuming that they are actually in charge of somewhere you can move them out of)… coming early 2025.

… and the Thargoid madness is kicking back into gear this Thursday, so keep an eye on any in-game (or out of game) things/announcements to that respect. Because clearly Cocijo had to go -

“You thought this was it?”

Also, maintenance will be extended to about three and a half hours. Probably feeding the hamsters their overtime rations to make sure the Thargoids don’t break them out of their wheels.

(And, due to forgetting, Cobra MK5 small ship - Arf made an oopsie - and out December 10)

Maybe there will be a use for all of the filler items, like building schematics being required for ground stations. But it will likely just be "deliver two and a half butt-tons of random commodities."

That's my guess as well. There are some nuances around it in how local system conditions affect what you can build and how the things you build can affect security as well as economy. I would suggest watching the segment on colonization here -

Timestamped link

It follows on the Cobra MKV stuff and some other things related to ship paints and a kit for the T8 (which I did not actually watch, or notice until now for that matter)... seems the Mandalay is getting itself the Midnight Black paint treatment. If you want that.

They wont let us colonize deep in space, arent they? Figures. Well good for colonia bubble, they can expand their bubble atleast and perhaps new bridge to near Sag A* system.
28 Nov 2024, 9:41am
Unfortunately they are restricting Colonisation to the bubble, at least for the initial roll-out. On the positive side they didn't rule out extending it to the Colonia region in the fullness of time.
I do hope so!
28 Nov 2024, 9:42am
Thyey did say it is a “beta” so they’re probably throwing it out to us to get some initial info on how it performs in the wild and how players choose to use it.

Early next year, anyway.
28 Nov 2024, 10:09am
Heh, the last Frontier beta lasted all of one week and preceded a seriously flawed Odyssey update

Hopefully this beta version will be more interactive with the community. Colonisation is a huge undertaking and I would be gobsmacked if it went smoothly, beta notwithstanding.
28 Nov 2024, 10:38am
But colonization is coming in 2025, right? Not now. So this gives a bit of time to think how to use it. From the look of it, it is basically a BGS extension, where you can increase the reach of your favored minor factions. And I think Rayman was spot on, that it could be an incentive for players to enhance the Colonia bubble. The Sol bubble, I'm not so sure. 10LY is not much and there seems to be an awful lot of running around involved to make a system functional in order to expand further.

Another question: who is interested in that new gameplay type? What minor factions would you choose to expand their reach? Or are you not bothered by that stuff at all?
