No worries. I have my reasons for not using FA-OFF and I have nothing against players using it.

Most of my kills in CZs and Bounty Hunting were obtained with the Corvette. HULL MASS is 900 t, it's heavy and doesn't have the same Thrust-to-Weight ratio than an FDL for example, but rotation rates on all axis are good, the only weakness is acceleration and Speeds.

I figured that from full speed if I was to pull a 180° rotation using FA-OFF, I would end up at some point with ZERO speed, if this is not too much of an issue for light fighter, for an heavy ship, it makes of you a (very) slow target, while pulling max turn in boost doesn't bleed as much energy.

The Corvette drift less than an FDL because she has less thrust, I figured the effect of thrust on drift when I tested mine between two grades of Thruster engineering, the Grade 5 gives the most drift, but still limited compared to an FDL or Mamba because of lower thrust.

The only two ships giving me trouble to keep my piper on are the Viper and Vulture because of their acceleration rates, but it doesn't last, at some point, they slow and turn and this is where they are at their lowest energy potential.

To me, not only is time on target important it also is directly linked to the ability to retain as much energy as possible with a 900 t ship with lower thrust to weight ratio than medium ships like the FDL and Mamba.

So I prefer to lose less energy than gaining the ability to keep rotating around whatever axis because thrust (which is an axis on its own) is limited and energy have to be managed or else I am even more vulnerable to NPC fire.

Hello! Greenhorn player here.
I have a Power (Archer) mission to sell exploration data in Flousop, but when I try to sell it in Salk Hub, it just doesn't register. Not yesterday, not today
Anyone with the same problem? Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?

So what is annoying me is that I am playing in open in systems that I am meant to be fight goids in, at the sites in said systems and yet nothing in OPEN. Go into SOLO and I am murdered very quickly by the goinds as it is me and Me... I want to fight with other commanders. I am getting getting bored of wating my limited play time with not fighting the goings in open, FDEV sort it out!

At the risk of being a snobby elitist you can't really deny that FA off does provide superior turning ability which, to be fair, is not nothing.
Though it's true you can have a great time without it and get on just fine it would be wrong to say that FA off doesn't give you an advantage.

I use a combination of both, when I'm directly engaging the Interceptor I keep flight assist toggled on to... well, retain any semblance of accuracy since I suck at it and it's extremely finicky to try using with a controller, while 'stalling' in front of the big angry flower trying to shred your ship is much harder to get out of without boosting (which would likely just ruin your "orbit") with flight assist disabled.

If you're trying to just avoid its fire or do things like boost past the Thargoid to get distance to it better/faster, strip the shield with a laser, switch its position with the swarm, (safely) bait the swarm's missile attack etc, then those are things which FA off makes much easier to the point of not being much of a consideration.

... also, trying to reduce Hydra swarm numbers with a flak launcher is stupidly annoying. Especially when it has not gone into enraged mode at any point or is not supposed to have a backup swarm ready (aka still has all hearts) but when you have gotten it down to about 1/4 of its size... it gets called back and there's 128 Thargons ready to kamikaze at your ship again immediately.

In OPEN, go to ports under attack in the system with most commanders present: https://dcoh.watch/ That should normally do the trick. Otherwise you might want to join the PG of the Anti-Xeno Initiative (joining is automated).

You could be making just a tactical mistake which sites do you go to fight in open and solo, and what ship/weapons are you using?

I'm finishing engineering the AX Anaconda, still incomplete for some HULL REINFORCEMENT PACKAGE (Grade 4 instead of 5) but they all have the Deep Plating Special Effect.

A quick trip to MUANG for the last laser (THERMAL VENT) and I'm gonna test it briefly, see how it goes.

This fit works but it is all about range, within 1500 m and I noticed that my Lasers doesn't reach the theorical 2600 m range and are prone to turn themselves off,

I think they have put the level of difficulty just a little bit high for newbies.

My last sortie saw me crawling back to the station at 8% HP with FSD disabled trying to repair after an interceptor interdicted me.

I was saved by a human ship who engage it, I used 4 X AUTO FIELD-MAINTENANCE UNIT Standard Reload just to get the FSD going, and I'm playing in Medium Intensity CZs...

In case it helps anyone, here's some AX advice from someone who never really cared about the AX side of the game: you can do quite a bit with just a tanky Krait Mk2 and some enhanced multicannons.

Obviously you can grind scouts until the cows come home. That's what I built the ship for initially, back when scouts were a great way to grind combat XP. And that's still useful: it's all I needed for that Shinrarta CG a little while back to get on the board and collect rewards. But for giggles, I started poking the Interceptors in a AXCZ, and it turns out: it's enough to kill a cyclops or two (assuming there's enough NPCs to pull aggro). No FA-off required (except for boosting away from shutdown fields), no cold orbiting... just AX scan the cyclops while he's not pissed at you, then target the exerted heart. Boost away if you get within a km (to avoid lighting attacks), and just keep hit-and-running the hearts. If he starts chasing you in particular, kite him towards NPCs. Lather, rinse, repeat...

A annoying thing is finding your near-dead cyclops after boosting away for that last-heart shutdown field, but nothing insurmountable...

It's more or less what I'm doing, the Interceptors wouldn't be too much of an issue if it wasn't for the waves of Scouts when not a second Interceptor, I just killed two during the last sortie, I'm getting the hang of the MODIFIED GUARDIAN SHARD CANNON...

I also fitted a Krait MK II, Pre-built to be precise but I never was able to achieve a kill on an Interceptor with it, now with the Corvette for that matter, the Scouts are easy but when there are many of them they can cause a lot of damage.

I've adapted my tactics, I check my radar more frequently and when I see more Scouts echo, I swap target immediately to get rid of them ASAP.

Speak for yourself. You have been huffing and puffing about AX killing for months but you managed to take down your first one yesterday and you needed a Anaconda, a flying fortress, with six "A" grade Enhanced AX MC + 2 absolutely Essential E rated beams.

having the best results with the Chieftain, Got into some fight with the Pre built Krait but found I did not have the finishing off power that the Chieftain does. Been killing scouts and got a Medusa in open with other Commanders, in SOLO I can not win. And lost about 12 mill in rebuys. Having fun through
