Certainly not when you're trying to kill the three Hydras at the end of an orbital station CZ in an FDL, even though killing Basilisks in the half dozens is not a particular issue. And the whole nonsense of needing to fire them with a charge that cannot be held is even stupider, while making them even less fun. Because it's so great to try working with a weapon which just has none of the upsides of either the plasma charger or the shard cannon, but all of the downsides except accuracy. No wonder nobody uses this thing unless they're forced to.

Thinder The game is based on physics, it's mass vs thrust, FA-OFF doesn't increase thrust.
No, but it does lift some artificial limitations on what your ship can do. (Not that I use it much, even in AX combat; a dual-stick, 6DoF setup makes up for most of the disadvantages of FA-On.)
Franz EberhoferMeowersFranz EberhoferIt has ability turning into a brick so you need a skill to recognize when it happens and boost away.
Ow. And when that does happen? How do I recognise it?
Well, when you are shooting all your weapons at it and it does not take any damage when it should be so take a break and then re-engage.
I, too, think it is a networking-related bug, and probably not specific to Medusas. I am positive it has never happened to me while I was alone in an instance.
Franz EberhoferAlso medusa stays 100% strong to the very end, don't get fooled that she lost all her hearts, she still could kill you if you are not paying attention what is happening to your hull.
This is true of every Thargoid ship; they fight with the same strength, whether their hull is at 100% or 1% (except, of course, for the Interceptor lightning weapon, which becomes active only after losing a heart.)
ThinderQ: How do you keep track of those kills? The Xeno Hunter badge only go as high as 10/10...
This page, the “Your Statistics” part.

Kasumi GotoI'm now officially even more convinced that gauss cannons suck and are not a fun weapon to use that has too many downsides to be able to consider it any good at what it is supposed to do, except the old, very outdated one on one Interceptor combat.

Agreed. I tried the gausses for a while and concluded that modshards are easier to use, pack more punch, and are just way more fun. (And a volley of 3 modshards can finish off a Cyclops when it still has one heart remaining, if done at sufficiently close range before the thing gets its shield up. ) Only if I were inclined to do some xeno-fighting in Sol right now would I perhaps use the gausses again.

Sampi OgonekToo bad the amount of posting in this chat, combined with real life stuff happening, crippled my ability to respond for more than a week, because there was some solid advice I would like to give…
First things first, @Thinder: To practice attacking the Titan, you really don’t need any of the Guardian stuff except the nanite torpedoes (which you can purchase for credits). Just slap either four EAXMCs or four AXMRs on your Python Mk II and you’re ready. You won’t be able to rack up as many credits as you would with 4 shard cannons with the AGZR mod, but you can still rack up plenty. (Here’s an example build.)
Thinder
Geeeeeezus... That's new. Now that I have transfered the material to the Carrier, I can't recover them, retransfer to the ship for unlocking the Corrosion Resistant Cargo Racks.
Writing a ticket, I don't think I'm gonna be ready for the last chapter of the Thargoid invasion any time soon...
Here’s the already confirmed ticket (out of several that were written), in case you missed it.
Also, you don’t need the anti-corrosion cargo racks for Hardened Surface Fragments, nor for any other materials required for the AGZR mod (or any other blueprint, for that matter).
(Edit: Also, you can farm Caustic Crystals at the remains of any of the already destroyed Titans.)
Ticket reply never reached me in my email.
When I was farming materials near a dead titan, my systems were affected one after the other, that's why I felt I needed Anti-Corrosion Racks, I wasn't anywhere near a live Titan.
The problem is not attacking a live Titan because I never came close to one, it is to keep my weapons functional when attacked by a Thargoid, last time, it was my whole systems and weapons that went down but the weapons did malfunction first: No weapons, no kill, game over.
So next thing was to get 3C Gauss and engineer them only it's a bummer to get the materialsfor them.

No, but it does lift some artificial limitations on what your ship can do. (Not that I use it much, even in AX combat; a dual-stick, 6DoF setup makes up for most of the disadvantages of FA-On.)
It also have its own limitations. As I mentioned, a 180° rotation will kill your speed especially with a heavy ship, and I use Corvette and Anaconda.
If a medium and a light ship can re-accelerate quickly, it's not the case of the heavies apart perhaps for the cutter but I don't use one in combat, that's energy management and it works the same way in this game without aerodynamics and gravity on top.
I killed 851 Thargoids and 25+ Interceptors in a week with a ship I never used in Combat before, but that was previous to the change made that kills Guardian weapons and Systems, as I mentioned, now it's a struggle to take down a single Interceptor.
2A Modified Gauss Cannon are more efficient than the larger 3C ones, but useless in the new environment, in fact one loses a lot by switching from the Modified Gauss to the 3C, starting with Dispertion (Jitter)...
The a shieldless Anaconda can take 6 of them and two lasers to cool the whole thing down.
Sampi OgonekOnly if I were inclined to do some xeno-fighting in Sol right now would I perhaps use the gausses again.
You can't. Only the 3C can be engineered.

Are you that cmdr. who enjoys odyssey geo and claims that there is no difficulty script for collecting raw?

RawnuIt's now 2 1/2 days and we are at 50%. I'd assume that the Americans will now take over and push Cocijo to at least 60, if not 66% by tomorrow (European) morning. Tuesday is really the latest the final heart will break, Monday evening also does not seem that far fetched. I'm really curious what FDev has planned for that. Is it just going to sit there and explode? Will it devastate parts of Earth? Or just go silently poof? Or will Cocijo vanish before it can go into meltdown? I have no clear expectations, just curious – and glad to witness this event more or less live.
50%? The overall progress is at ~44.5% now with current heart at 54.
I expect that one to drop overnight for here in the EU, but not sure it's going to go on Monday. Only if Sunday turns into an absolutely massive surge.

Franz EberhoferThe most difficult part is to hit as many heat vents as possible so far once I managed to do 5 but mostly 3-4 and then quickly maneuver close to exposed heart to shoot at it.An old pic with a strategy of mine which helps to hit more vents with the torpedoes. With that, I'm able to get all 8 per run consistently (80%+ runs), having around 545 boost speed. The orange line is the 'obvious' trajectory, heading from vent to vent straight line, and the green one is the path I choose, staying closer to the centre and decreasing the radius, thus the distance I need to cover. More hits per less distance. Requires some lateral thrusters usage and trajectory adjusting of course, that general skill of flying your ship not where the nose is pointed at, but one can get used to it rather quickly, I guess.

I tried to get to the Titan with my ALLIANCE CHIEFTAIN AX COMBAT JUMPSTART, running silent I was able to lose the Interceptor but the Caustic cloud got me...
Any tips?

ThinderI tried to get to the Titan with my ALLIANCE CHIEFTAIN AX COMBAT JUMPSTART, running silent I was able to lose the Interceptor but the Caustic cloud got me...Does this configuration have caustic sinks installed? You need at least one to get to the titan, or two engineered for higher capacity to get to the titan and back comfortably ('100% hull' infiltration isn't difficult in that case). The goop is really thick, it takes several rounds of caustic sinks to get through it.
Any tips?
You can look at my current setup at the moment, I do solo bombing runs with that and it works fine.
p.s. If you do have caustic sinks, then, well... Move faster and don't lose your direction. It's all relatively simple, boost and trust.
