ED_Recluse Agreed which is why I only use GIMBALLED weapons. For the Cobra, even using Gimballed Multicannons on the outer points requires pitching down the nose to get the points to bear properly.

Yea, but you know that this is not the best fit for PvP, won't you?

Hadn't considered it, but then I don't do any PvP. One of these days I will try it but I am not going to risk my expensive ships while I find out how bad I am when the enemy isn't an NPC

You know people who know people who can help you with that. Some Wings do events and training matches to build up piloting skills. Whether PvP is your thing, or may become your thing, it's a good way to "protect your investment" should you find yourself not in Solo play, and set upon by a pack of psychopathic Reavers or some other miscreant who's been away from civilization for too long and forgot their civility.

ED_RecluseHave read a fair bit about Robigo smuggling, but never been tempted to try it. LOL.. I took a few of those "Freight Specialist Wanted" mulitpart missions and was worried enough about carrying a few tons of illegal Combat Stabilizers let alone an ASP LOAD of Slaves.....

BUT 47 million in one run might make me change my mind...

I whole heartedly agree. With my schedule I could do with as much quick cash as I can get. Also, thank you everyone for your opinions on cobra vs vulture for combat craft. They have been very informative and have given me a lot to think about

out of curiosity, does anyone know what purpose an imperial courier serves? I tinkered around with it a bit in the ed shipyard and the only functional use I can find is as an explorer. Does anyone know differantly? Same question applies to the orca, I just haven't tinkered around with it yet.

It's a Courier. For getting things from place to place quickly, and in one piece - hence the 3 medium hard points and 4 utility slots.

It seems like a decent support ship in a dog fight as well - good for taking down shields and getting out of range so a bulkier ship could then pound the life out of the target.

It's a fantastic interdictor and punches well above its weight.
The iCourier that I use is both effective vs small and large ships. It has quite good maneuverability and the shields are great for its size. 3 medium weapon slots is also nothing to scoff at. People often use them as a fun alternative to the Vulture.

seriously? combat wouldn't have been my first thought for it, kind of like trying to put out a fire with a paper fan

Try it. Combat is what it does best.

The thing has pretty solid shields though.

It is a nice little tank of a fighter.

BoskyBoskIt is a nice little tank of a fighter.

It sorely lacks distributor power though, even continuous boosting at 4 pips to engines is impossible with it. Almost no other ship has that problem.

but if the shields EVER fail you you´re dead meat in a can....
aside from good shields it has almost no hull strength....
but it´s fun to fly...

And that power plant is so conveniently located center-mass, so you can take it out entirely by accident.

as i said....
beautyful, fast, fun to fly and quite good for PvE...
but useless for real fights...

Have you tried it? I think you might find it far from useless in "real" fights.
Check out YouTube for a few videos of how useless they are if you don't want to test it yourself

yep i did and others did, but with about 15-20 player battles its just not enough power to stay....
