Elite roleplay: Citi Gateway

CITI GATEWAY

The Orbis station is a center of activity. Within the station a myriad of places can be found.
  • The Warrens: Where the poor plebs of the station live. It's is a breeding ground for the most unscrupulous. Keep an eye on your wallet when traversing the corridors of these areas.
  • Habitation Complex: For those workers and pilots that can afford it, this area provides closer to 1G gravity for more earth like living.
  • Commerce Divison: and Administration Where the larger corporations make their home. Station administration can be found here.
  • Industrial Complex: Where industry manufactures their various goods.
  • Entertainment: District Bars, theaters and night clubs, tattoo parlors and other establishments can be found vying for a commanders credits in exchange for a bit of fun.
  • Station Security: A high tech brig used to house law breakers until they can be tried, and or deported off station.
  • Medical Ward: Where commanders can get patched up, enhanced, or fix existing cybernetics.

General Roleplay Etiquette:

1. Control only the actions of your own character(s). (AKA: God Mode)
This doesn't matter how small the action is, even if it is as simple as scratching their nose or a direct reaction to something else that just happened. This applies to everything from casual conversation to full blown fight scenes. If you'd like someone to do something specific, PM that person, however keep in mind they are completely within their rights to say no. Especially if said action is inappropriate to their character and/or circumstance.

2. Don't brute force your way into another persons RP.
Approaching with a conversation starter is fine, or indeed some other small action. However charging in, guns blazing and disrupting the flow of another person/pair/groups conversation/arc is about as rude as doing so in real life. If something is going on that you'd like to participate in, be subtle about it. Put out a gentle hook for someone to take, but again, be aware that said hook may not be taken. If you fear it was simply unnoticed, PM the person or people it concerns. Or even leave a message in the OOC forums.

3. Good grammar and spelling is preferred.
We're not asking you to be perfect, but please at least demonstrate willingness. no1 iz gna tak u srsly usng txt spk. There's a wide variety of people here, many who speak English as a second, or even third language. There are even some with varying degrees of dyslexia and/or likely other issues that affect spelling/grammar. We accept them all here. However, people who aren't accepted, are those unwilling to accept polite correction. Remember that even a small thing like the placement of a comma, or the wrong use of there/their/they're can completely change the definition of an entire sentence.

4. Accept constructive criticism gracefully and politely.
If someone spots an issue with your writings, they may wish to help you improve that writing. They may do this through PM or even publicly air their thoughts on the OOC forum. If they have taken the time to be polite and explain what is wrong with your writing, the best way to behave is to respond in kind, using the same manner they have approached you with. It means they have taken an active interest in what you have written and wish to see more. Basically, you have a fan!

5. Don't take the actions or opinions of things done IN RP, to be directly relevant to the writers thoughts or opinions.
Basically, if some ones character calls your character a jackass, it doesn't mean the writer thinks you are a jackass. It's a ROLE they are PLAYING. Watch a movie. The argument between the characters isn't an argument between the actors involved. The same applies here.

6. It's not a popularity contest.
Your RP might be bustling with participants. You have 3 people off station in a fire fight, while another 2 are infiltrating the darkest areas of the station, meanwhile a group of 4 others are tracking your movements in an effort to stop you. Good for you, I'm sure it will be a thrilling read! But you know what? Sometimes the absolute BEST work, comes from two RP characters having a simple heart to heart. Both are valid, both are great, but NEITHER is categorically better than the other. Period.

Inara RP Etiquette:

1. Respect the setting and rules of the universe.
Inara is an Elite: Dangerous 3rd Party Tool. The RP Forums are set in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Elite: Dangerous has rules, as any fictional universe does from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, or Game of Thrones to Star Trek. If you intend to RP within the Elite: Dangerous universe you are bound by the history and rules of that universe. Simply put, this RP forum is bound by the same rules as the game, so if it can't be done in the game, it is not permitted here. This applies to things from a 50Ly Jump Range on a normal, unmodified Sidewinder, to the destruction of entire stations.

2. Respect the characters created by others.
We have a wide variety of characters already here. It's expected that some will be similar, just as it's expected that two characters will be vastly different. Opinions of each persons character will naturally be varied, but all are valid provided they follow the rules of the universe. You are allowed to interact with, or avoid interaction with, any character in the RP forums. But you have no right to belittle others for their creation. You are not an authority figure on writing, nor are you directly affected by another persons imagination. You might not like it, but you MUST respect it.

3. Be caught up on current events before joining in.
You need basic things like character descriptions in order to interact with them. You also need to know what's going on in the surrounding areas. This is simply because the people you are hoping to RP with, might be gearing up to something that you might not want to be part of. Or simply that the most recent post, out of context, could leave a different impression on the goings on than if you gather that context. We don't expect you to read every single post from the beginning of the forums, just enough to get that basic understanding.

4. Either subscribe to, or frequently check, the Roleplay: Q&A and OOC forum.
People may be discussing something relevant to you there, or even discussing you directly. Perhaps someone asked what the general consensus on the existence or non-existence of a certain object. Or we're just chatting about random gibberish. Either way, be aware of it and use it. If you're unsure about something, such as how guns would look and or behave, or even the music selection, use the OOC forum to ask. We don't have all of the answers, but the collective knowledge and logic usually allows us to overcome an issue and come to a decision on what should be allowed. Frontier Developments, and even David Braben himself, don't have the answers to every possible question that can be asked.

5. Large Scale events exploding out of nowhere are a complete no go.
We get it. Everyone wants their character to be noticed and for people to be tripping over themselves to interact with them. In some audiences, an introduction involving you blasting in for landing in a fiery wreckage of a ship, before cart wheeling out and sword fighting 35 Ninjas before whisking off with the local celebrity for a glorious night of passion, is in fact, cool. This is not one of those audiences. It is generally considered better to build your character up slowly over time. Eventually, you might even have a legitimate excuse to fight those Ninjas. Maybe even with other RP participants by your side.

6. Perfect characters are boring.
The point of a character arc, is that it is in fact, an arc shape. One who is morally unquestionable, fully kitted out and an infinite fountain of knowledge, cannot go through an arc. Give your character flaws. Be it a tendency towards befriending the wrong people, or a bad knee that frequently gives out at inopportune moments. It gives readers something to latch onto and empathise with. You can give your character exceptional capabilities at something, but it requires balance. She's a damn good pilot with no equal, but can't drive an SRV for peanuts. It can lead to some very interesting moments between characters, be it heartfelt or comedic.

Other Notes:
It should be noted that there can be exceptions to these points. For example, good grammar when a character is speaking is actually rare. Few people in real life actually speak with perfect eloquence after all. Or previously arranged actions during a fight scene, such as someone stumbling back after a punch. What's key to remember is context.

All in all, remember this is purely for fun. We have some seriously talented writers here, and others whose writing history starts and ends at high school. But many are willing to help out in whatever way they can. All it takes is that you ask nicely.

Also keep in mind that many people who RP here, also have logbook stories related to the character, or characters, they portray. If it looks like there's an "in joke" going on that you're unsure of, it's probably in those.

In fact, some users have even gone to the trouble of creating "alts" to RP with. If you read back far enough, it's usually pretty clear who has and hasn't, and which ones are the "alts". It's therefore not unheard of to see the apparent seizing of control of other characters. If you do spot one, point it out in the OOC section. If intervention is needed, it will be sorted quickly and (hopefully) politely.

Most, if not all RP participants here have Logbook stories pertaining to their character(s). These are for the reading pleasure of anyone who wishes to do so. While it can be useful to read them in order to gain a bit of backstory on a character you wish to interact with, it should not be assumed that your character shares that knowledge. Within the E:D Universe, these Logbooks either don't exist, or are private diaries kept by the characters. Either way, without explicit statements to say otherwise from the writer, your interactions should reflect that your character is in the dark about any information you, the writer/reader, have gained from reading the stories.

"Oh I'll invoice you alright" Said Apex as he pushed the pay-off between many dummy accounts before it got to Vasilescu's

Pay-off's were much less messy than directly dealing with that sort of problem. Random pilots flying in, dropping off some of this and bit of that alerted import staff to check what was in the cargo canisters. Having some over eager stock boy report something he shouldn't have seen could cost more than a good bounty or two.

With Vasilescu's payment verified, Apex typed out a message for Jørn. He didn't want to talk to the man because he didn't yet know who had killed the three Cleave Hub guys.
06 Sep 2023, 9:13pm
The money appeared quickly in the Factura Mi account, before Vasil could finish a bourbon he had poured for himself after the conversation. He admired the efficiency. The manner in which the transaction had been conducted and the fast payment cemented in his mind the fact that these people were concerned with more than a few tons of unscheduled cargo coming into the warehouses. It was probably best to not poke their beehive. Though a good profit had been made, he considered it a failure that he had not been able to arrange continued shipments for Willow.

Vasil tapped the ERS insignia on his collar to establish a comm link to his ship. "Jefferson, send voice message to Willow Thorn."

"Recording, commander"

"Willow, it was best to take the money. Sorry, but I screwed up and pissed off people that are better left alone. Let's just say they are not what you might consider a typical business operation, and it would not be wise to provoke them any further. Anyway, I'm forwarding your 30% cut. Also, keep whatever profit you have managed to make so far. Jefferson, end recording and send."

"Message sent, commander."

"Jefferson, transfer seventy-five million credits from personal account to Willow Thorn. Transfer balance from Factura Mi account to personal account."

"Transfers acknowledged and logged."
12 Sep 2023, 6:03pm
With nothing to do now Bad Investments had stopped being a thing, and a bit of a stuffy head thanks to the wine, Willow napped often. Her pad rumbled under her hand. She'ed fallen asleep watching anything that looked good again.

Kasumi Goto
Hey, Wil(low)

We’re back from hell, would you believe it (or not). We’re… well, mostly in one piece. Silvia and her crazy fox are still alive(and her wife too, I guess).
Going to be on the station for at least a few hours from now. I think. If you’re interested in a rundown or something.

Attempting to stretch reminded her that she had an arm in a cast, never a nice way to start the day. Taking her pad to the sink Willow typed a quick reply while she looked for her tooth brush.

"I'm like what, and totally stoked u guys are ok.
So the Galactic?"
21 Sep 2023, 8:52am
"Yeah so I still can't feel much, but it's so good to have some movement you know?" said Willow slowly bending and straightening her arm "Thanks doc"

"Don't do too much with your freedom. The new cast does let you use your hand, but your forearm is still mending. You have a few weeks to go there and you have atrophy to think about"

"Hey, like I'm a spacer right? I can deal with a little muscle waste. So soon as the cast is off, I'll get on the resistance bands and sort it"

She mimed the exercises to show she knew what to do.

"Great, another one I can't bill for physio. So, I'll book you in for a check-up and providing everything is good, the last time you'll see me is to get that cast cut off. Anything else Mrs Thorn?"

"Er, like, I don't think so. So yeah, thanks doc, I'm going to go find out if I can like, use a knife and fork, you know? See you in two weeks"

Leaving the med lab, Willow checked the nearby vending machines for packs of Unmeatabel with no luck. It felt about time for the vending company to have come around, but they only serviced the machines in the busy areas if they can this close to a Goid system at all. That meant the machines around the Market and the Galactic were Willows best bet for her Unmeatabel craving.

"Guess I'll hit the Galactic first" The place had pretty much been a ghost town since the regulars had left. If there were Unmeatabels to be had, the Galactic was the place.

Get in a fight. Go to the docs. Get questioned by authorities. Except for that last part, Jim did not mind the pattern he’d recently fallen into. Going to the docs was a natural consequence of getting in a fight. The process of the “authorities” trying to determine who was to blame for the fight was annoying.

First, it was Henderson’s corporate security thinking he had something to do with one of their research facilities being compromised. Now it was Citi’s station security with a bug up their ass to question Jim about the incident at the docks while the docs finished repairing him.

Strangely, security seemed more concerned about the discharge of weapons than the fact that they had to remove two bodies. Jim was fined for reckless use of a jump pack and willful discharge of a firearm in a controlled area. Apparently station security wanted people to get to a fight the slowest way possible and then not shoot back when they were shot at.

Though Jim denied it, security kept insisting that he had put both bodies in the morgue. There was clear video of the fight between he and the big man, Arvid. No video of how the other man, Vihan, had his head caved in, but security was certain it could not have been Willow. It did not fit her personality, they said. On the other hand, Jim, with a combined two decades In the Federal military and then in mercenary work, fit the profile of someone willing and capable of crushing a skull. Hell, maybe he did do it and the massive concussion he suffered in the fight at Henderson Genetics was still messing with his short term memory.

Eventually, the security jackholes left but said they’d be in touch, and not to leave the station without telling them. The docs said he’d have to take it easy for a while. Anything strenuous risked damaging the synthetic graft used to seal the puncture while the progenitor cells finished repairing the nicked artery and the axe wound. Maybe a week or two, they said.

It’d take at least that long to get the armor repaired and for the handlers to find a decent job, so it looked like he’d be spending his down time on the station. No big deal to Jim. He’d spent R&R in worse places.

"Ok officer, thank you" Apex ended the call with Citi Security and looked over the report again. This was not going to fly.

Two of Jørn's guys were dead, and not shot, beaten in hand to hand. If Thorn was setting out to piss the Barberian off, she was making all the right moves. A pair of big guys, great with axes are sent to beat up a skinny woman, and they end as bloody puddles in her cargo bay. Picking some of the more choice pictures from the crime scene, Apex attached them to the report he was going to send to Jørn.

Now the new player, Jim, or James Mackenzie Gruden. AKA Wild Jim, an ex- services martian turned merc like so many before him. Unlike most the others, Jim was still alive and baring some out-there stories about him, he’s considered a good contractor.

“Hm, looks like Thorn isn’t as green as we suspected if she had the brains to heir protection before she started shipping shit in” said Apex drumming his fingers on the desk.

He attached Wild Jim’s file to the report and a video file of Thorn’s and Jim’s interviews with security. Fortuny, there was no impact on the money flow thanks to Thorn and the tiny amounts of cargo she was bringing in, that was about the only positive in Apex’s lates report.

The unwanted activity around the cargo bays, and her by passing the buyers, there for pissing them off, was the issue. When they got a bug up their ass, they complained to Apex, and now Arvid and Vihan were killed, he had to pass that on to Jørn. Jørn didn’t like hearing about problems that were unsolved. He didn’t pay trouble shooters to deal with problems.

Swallowing hard, Apex looked over his report one last time, then sent it to The Barberian.

Continued from here

I picked a table somewhere in a corner of the Italian… was it a café, or restaurant? I didn’t much know, or care. What mattered was that it made good food, and wasn’t quite so prone to someone walking in with more guns than they had limbs to carry them with. Or just limbs, general. Already knew what I was gonna take, so I didn’t intend to look at the card unless Meowers asked.

“So …” I placed my hands on the table, holding them together. “I guess you might be a bit more curious about what kind of mess I found looking around those Thargoid towers?”

I was keeping the questions about the VR device on the back of my mind, or at least tried to, rather than forgetting. But if I did, I could always rely on Meowers to tell me anyway, if the prospect of a very oversized pizza was not too much for her brain to follow other thought processes.
19 Oct 2023, 12:12am
I took a seat across the table and signalled the restaurant worker to come by and listen to my pizza fantasies.

"Yeah, I'm all ears now," I replied to Kasumi. "For some... Specific personal... Reason I didn't even have a single doubt that you've been not just somewhere next to it in general, but wandered inside those... Do they even have any 'inside' at all? Or they're just giant columns of whatever Thargoids use for construction materials?"

Then, the waiter approached, I opened the menu and immediately put my finger on a photo of a meat pizza.

"This one please. In 40 cm. And could you please add some extra meat on top? And, minus the onions. Also some ice tea for the waiting time, and..."

I looked at Kasumi.

"...your order, I guess. As I like to say to newcomers, if you can eat after looking at the Thargoid stuff, you're fit."
19 Oct 2023, 12:36am
"Well, at least it's not just me who hates this ridiculous idea that onions do anything other than ruin food that would otherwise be perfectly edible."

I looked at the waiter after making that remark to Meowers, and used one of the pads to select a dish of simple pasta with meat filling - otherwise known as 'tortellini', rounder and taller than raviolis, but not as wide - with cream and ham, plus a parmesan cheese supplement to spread over them in generous quantities.

"That'll be it for me. And some orange juice, please."

I waited until they were gone to start talking again.

"Going to take worse than Thargoid buildings to know the hunger out of this belly.", I said to Meowers, jokingly hitting it with a fist. "Might look small, but you don't know how much it can put down until you see it. Anyway, I didn't see any way to get inside inside, but, uh... yeah, they've got some kinda pads on the side. Four on the big tower, two on the smaller ones. You can probably guess where it's going, and yes, you can totally land on those pads, without it immediately blasting you off. Your ship's even gonna land back on them if you have to tell it to go away because some Scouts got cranky at it."

I took a deep breath.

"You know what the best and worst part of it is? There's a weird... platform, kind of nested into the side of the tower, at each of those pads, with some tubes connected to it. And there's a lot of smaller... I guess, also platforms, which totally look fit for a human to hop around on, well, relatively safely, if you mind the three kilometer drop at the really big tower. Sure isn't about to win any safety awards, but still hella weird. Like, why make that? And then, the central platform, well, it really draws your attention. Got stuff on the sides, leading to what looks a bit like a control panel."

I needed to breathe again, getting too carried away in my description.

"Anyway, it's... not really a control panel. There's a couple of so-called nerve clusters around, and if you zap all four of those with your energy link tool, it opens up some sort of storage container. Not a clue what the stuff from in it is good for, but that's for people smarter than me to figure out. And by that I mean that guy Palin in his lab over in wherever, because he loves his Thargoid stuff. Sure hope he can make sense of it. Because... well, I've got some thoughts about the fact that stuff looks human-friendly when they've got a whole bunch of us locked up in the Titans, with god knows what getting done to them. Unless Thargoids somehow follow the same design principles in their stuff as us, in that it makes their brains click and gets them drawn to it when they see it."

I needed to stop talking. There was far too much information flooding out of me, and too little time to comprehend it, so I remained silent after finishing that last sentence.
19 Oct 2023, 12:57am
That flow of information had me staring surprisedly and listening while also trying not to blink in order not to miss anything important. So, with that task taking all my brainpower, I wasn't really able to control and suppress all those 'oh hells', 'oh shits', 'oh craps' and other constructive comments on the matter so they were falling off my tongue freely from time to time during pauses.

"First," after she finished, I raised my finger and one eyebrow simultaneously. "You're friggin' batshit crazy. And I like it. Phah."

"Then, speaking seriously... You know, I've no doubt it is connected to the Titans, abductions and all that heinous shite. Listen," I started counting on my fingers. "First, they bring in big party boats that can pump out smaller hurty-hurty boats and even smaller meatbag stealy-stealy boats. Second, they use big party boats to store stuff like living humans inside 'em. Third... Listen. They were absolutely okay with reproduction or whatever they do to have more of them flying around. For shitillions of years, they were okay. So these... Buildings. They may be totally connected to what shit they do to humans in those pods."

I spread my arms around and made a wacky grin.

"That's, kind of, obvious. Especially if you tell this might be fit for humans. Like... We've never seen anything human-sized and surface-walking that is a Thargoid. That makes me think they simply don't have any... Variants of their kin which need those special places in their constructions to navigate their way around."

"Pffffff...", I exhaled loudly, "But yeah, this is not good. They aren't putting a sign 'Tourists Welcome' on top of those piles. So any humans that we might encounter there later... You guess. Not doing that willingly. Or even consciously aware."
19 Oct 2023, 1:11am
"Oh, you bet they didn't want me poking around in there. Not so much from the ships going around there - mostly, it was just Orthrus flying around scanning those barnacle-looking things. Sometimes, a few Scouts dropped in, but they'd kinda just go away if I flew about ten kilometers from the nav marker for the site."

A waiter dropped off our drinks, making me go quiet until they were gone again.

"So, yeah, as I was gonna say - there are some big Thargoid skimmers going around. A bit like the Goliath, but more annoying, because they constantly launch some kinda missile that messes with your systems for a few seconds if it blows up near you. So I had to deal with that while in the air too. Anyway, to get back to those platform-thingys - also noticed them under the weird barnacles, which are placed up in the sky on some weird root structure with a central column. You'd think a Thargoid wouldn't really need small platforms to hop around on, instead of just climbing the walls, you know?"

I sighed, shaking my head, trying to keep my thoughts in some kind of order.

"I've got way too much to say on this, and my brain is just not cooperating to keep the thoughts in one place. I want to say one thing, then there's another five, and then for each of those there is five more... you get the idea. As for what else is under those barnacles, well, it's kinda just, minerals pulled from the ground, I think. But whatever they put into 'em is corrosive and nasty, at least when it's not refined. No clue what they're doing with it all. Ship building, maybe, or it's to build those damn spires. Hell if I know. But putting aside that they're abducting humans, it almost feels like it's designed as a test. For those under their own will or those they've abducted? Only they know."

I kind of gazed into Meowers' eyes briefly, as if to try hinting at that there were more things I could be saying, but not necessarily in public like this.
19 Oct 2023, 1:49am
"Yeah, I know the feeling. You want to say one thing but it's connected to a heckload of other things you don't want to miss. Totally," I replied, after taking a hold of a big mug of ice tea and making a couple of gulps. "Aaahhh that's great."

"So. I've no doubt whatever is happening is going to be, by human standards, a model of heinous shite. See, phah, that's connected to the 'ending the war by diplomacy' thing... It might be totally okay for them. They don't know about human individuality, empathy, and what reaction that war creates, even in minds of those who don't take part. Or, they don't care because we're primitive... How were they called..."

I took another gulp of tea, partially hoping it would help me to remember.

"Yeah. Mudlarks. Those things lived on what's now the Capitol, like, thousand years ago. Obliterated to friggin' extinction by Imperials who thought it's their lawn now. So, Thargoids are now trying to do the same number on us. Aaaargh, shite, so, what was I'm talking about... Yeah. This might be totally okay for them, to experiment on each other. But it's not okay for us, we're getting angry and go shooting them to shreds. They shoot us in return. And if it's okay for them, then, like, they may think that stopping that performance will make us less angry, but it doesn't work like that because people want to get their revenge. Heck... More than two thirds of recruits now have scores to settle."

Realising that this is going too far, I stopped my train of thoughts abruptly by pouring tea over its engine, so to say.

"So yeah. I'm pretty sure these... Buildings were been somehow prepared all that time. Do they grow them underground?.. Or maybe they transport them somehow... They may be, like, super advanced and all that shit, but I still can't believe those complex structures were actually created overnight. Transported or raised from below the ground level, maybe, but not materialised. Like, they started snatching people and, at the same time, preparing those... Facilities. To have enough bodies and buildings ready at the one point in time. Bloody fucks this is ugly."

And, a thought I had all that time, and it was patiently waiting.

"I bet once they realise what's going on with the minerals, we're going to get an announcement. Like, bring shit tonnes of them to a megaship, or bring some of them to a shady guy hiding in a bunker and he will install an additional button onto your gun. What a nonsense."
19 Oct 2023, 9:00am
“I still think we started this whole nonsense by deciding to shoot the thing and calling its territory ours. Because we’re just idiot apes in the end. What good is a brain if you’re just gonna use it to hurl rocks at anything that isn’t you?”

I lowered my head with my eyes closed, sighing.

“Still don’t agree with what the Thargoids are doing anyway, but you poke the beehive with your sticks like an idiot too often, they’re going to get annoyed with you. Thanks, Salvation, you goddamn moron. More like Damnation. Ego the size of multiple universes, and look where it got us.”

I took a deep breath before I got carried away on yet another Azimuth rant.

“Anyway, I don’t think these just came into existence like that either, but… it was still like getting hit with a basketball when you expected a baseball to get pitched at you. Or something like that. And the way it all looks… it has to be related to …” I gazed down at both of my hands, lifted up from the table slightly, balled into fists. A gesture that might have been a little too obvious, or perhaps not. “To us.”

That was as much of a hint as I could provide to myself for this matter, in public.

“And worse yet, I don’t think… whatever those sites are going to be good for, whether it’s cities, ships, or places where they build ships… that they’re done growing yet.”
19 Oct 2023, 11:21am
"Ah, shite...", I sighed, blinking slowly. "Who started that damn thing and what and why... Guess we'll never find out now. Unless we stumble upon someone who lived one hundred fucking fifty years ago and saw the thing with their own eyes... Considering they aren't completely insane by now, which's honestly harder than living so far. As we both know by a... very popular example of a deranged old man."

I giggled, almost gruntling, at the next thought that appeared on my mind... Which may have looked curious for the waiter who arrived with my pizza and Kasumi's meal. I didn't see him coming, since my back was turned to the corridor, so, once he arrived, I attempted to suppress the noise and drop a casual "oops, sorry"... Which resulted in me thinking about how an outside observer would see it. And I giggle-gruntled even more intensely.

"Ah, timely," saying my thanks to the waiter, I grabbed a first slice of a giant pizza, generously decorated with additional chunks of meat, on top of standard portion of meat. Expectedly, the slice almost immediately disappeared in my mouth. After a gulp of tea, I was ready to explain this behaviour.

"So... Pffffft... Aaaah, hells. So, what's the chance of one particular individual outliving his spectacular project, going full Thargoid and then launching an equally grand and equally...", and I drawn a pair of quotation marks with my fingers in the air, "'Successful' endeavour for the other team?"

I made a strategic pause, using it to sink my fangs into another slice of pizza.

"That was a joke by the way. Pffff. And yeah, I think you're right, they will certainly keep growing over time... Yet I don't think they're connected to something vital to the Thargoids. The buggers were totally okay without those things around for years. Maybe millions of years. We've been to godsdamned hundreds of thousands of planets and never seen anything like that before, neither new nor ancient. It's certainly related to us, humans, somehow."
19 Oct 2023, 11:38am
I looked at Meowers with my mouth open slightly, head tilted to the right, occasionally blinking… then said nothing about that joke at first. Because I definitely knew who that was directed at.

“Has to be important to them for something. Those spires, I mean. Apparently, they’re more interested in keeping them guarded than random system B five-hundred random letters and numbers next door. But yeah, since they built them right in our space, where they are invading with those big-ass Titans… well, it’s obviously got to do with us.
