XeknosThis entire premise is flawed. People don't become lazy when their basic needs are met. You enable them to pursue their passions and dreams. The greed that drives late-stage capitalism has been a far bigger threat to human development than anything the socialists/communists could dream up. Our lack of regard for basic humanity is tearing us apart.

"Mr. Xeknos, you appear to be very passionate about your work for this company. Would you mind if we cut your salary in half and pay the other half to that former colleague of yours whom we laid off because he preferred to play video games all day?"

What a wonderful strawman.

This.

To suggest that welfare states make people lazy is typical right-wing guff.

To suggest that welfare states enable people to pursue their passions & dreams is typical left-wing rubbish.

Late stage American capitalism, where entire sectors of the economy are considered exempt from paying a living wage, isn't exactly making dreams and passions come true, either.

It's almost as though the fundamental purpose of employment is being... ignored.

Is the EU made up of impoverished states populated by layabouts lacking any drive or ambition?

Or are you just attempting a feeble "no u" comeback?

And to the folks suggesting that socialism doesn't work, might I draw your attention to the plethora of European states that have some variety of blended socialistic/capitalistic systems that have enabled their citizens to consistently rank ahead of Americans in most categories, including education, quality of life, etc etc.

These nations have rightfully figured out how to leverage their economies to benefit their citizens, instead of merely allowing the upper class to line their pockets and hoard their money. I would be wholly interested in what kinds of things we could accomplish if the United States made its economy work for us, instead of us working to please the ultra-rich.

Late stage capitalism is for rubes and old money. I refuse to work 40 hours a week to make some other dickwad rich.

Hi, yes, let's take the political shitshow to general talk and focus on the lore in this one. Thanks.

Yeah, let's not bring real life politics into that unless necessary as comparative.

Myself? I am not okay with the fact I'm unemployed despite searching for a job for quite some time - and being called out as lazy for not having a job is one of the least things I want to hear. Especially when you take into consideration how bad situation is thanks to pandemic and how negatively it barred a lot of people from being employed, as if it wasn't hard enough already.

If someone calls out unemployed people as lazy because "job is easy to get if you try hard enough", then either he or she lives in a relatively working employment system... or got job in a country ran by the same problems like mine just because of being someone's family. I heard that statement coming out of the mouths of people who are working at father's/mother's/etc. firms way too many times.

One of the reasons why I simply despise Zachary Hudson, so with this accent let's just go back on why it is better to simp Federation, Alliance or Empire.

Also, is there a reason why I keep finding more and more megaships attacked by Thargoids in the least expected places VERY close to Sol - but GalNet does not cover it?

the megaships in deciat have been damaged for ages and just never repaired so its probably that.

"The Azaladshu Free faction, which controls four systems, has seceded from the Federation in protest against civilian surveillance.

The unexpected declaration followed the election of new leadership for Azaladshu Free, which currently controls the Azaladshu, LFT 824, LHS 277 and LTT 3919 systems."

I guess that's means the next CG is set... I'm always against Hudson, so... let's defend the Azaladshu systems' right to freedom!

Looks like it will be the first combat CG in which I will participate.

Ah yes, I foresee a repeat of Lugh, but without the interesting Galnet play-by-play.

You uhhh. Do you have a boss? Because they've got you thinking about it exactly how they want you to.
