Elite: Lore

Anyone here have any interesting theories about it? I looked back on the thread here and did not see much of this subject discussed.
As much fun as I have reading about it, I can't help but assume that it's a wild goose chase, a MacGuffin location FDev has put out there to intrigue CMDRs until they're prepared to actually do something with it in Elite's overall story, if they even do at all. Despite official claims that it is in the game.
This makes me wonder about a related but separate question: How much do you suppose of the Galaxy actually remains fully unexplored by players?

It's easier to specify how less of the galaxy has been explored yet. Apparently only 0,0039% of all stars have been visited. And that'd still be 15,8 million stars, assuming that the galaxy contains 400 billion.

Woops. Missed a zero there.

Whoa. That's wild! Never saw this fact but I always speculated that it was a fraction of a percentage. That's still far far less than I imagined.
Anyway not to drag this off lore based topics but I might reconsider the idea that maybe Raxxla or Soontill is out there somewhere. Maybe even other just as rare mysteries are out there waiting to be found.

So, to return to a previous science based Lore question asked on here earlier in regards to why laser weapons only have a limited max range and can't be fired in their direction indefinitely:
I found a real world answer for that. (Which I read somewhere is the reason they're limited in the Elite universe) it's called thermal blooming. And it's a problem with real lasers.
I'm not a scientist so I can't really explain it. But definitely Google it if you're interested

Alek FenlessThat's an awesome bit of information. Thank you.

I looked it up, but apparently thermal blooming is an atmospheric effect, it's caused by the propagation of the laser through a medium. I don't think that would apply in a vacuum.
Interesting fact nonetheless

You’re right, it wouldn’t, but lasers do have a max range, that wouldn’t even begin to apply if you can see what you’re shooting without a telescope the size of a skyscraper, because of the beam’s scatter. Though unless the laser has a really crappy focus this definitely wouldn’t matter at Elite ranges. So maybe it’s just the companies skimping on quality.

Alek FenlessRaxxla? The famous mystery. Lots of interesting and wild theories on the Frontier forums lore and roleplay section about it and The Dark Wheel, such as the Dark Wheel minor faction in Shinrarta Dezhra isn't anything but a front, and that Raxxla isn't even a planet.
Anyone here have any interesting theories about it? I looked back on the thread here and did not see much of this subject discussed.

In my opinion, this is what makes a game great. The Lore. Even though it's been in the back of my mind that Raxxla is sort of a MacGuffin location, in the end I'm still one of those suckers intrigued by the idea and will keep researching & Exploring.
I'm never going to settle on a particular theory even though I've had a few. Perhaps Raxxla is a completely false story wrapped up in so many lies, even those who told these lies started to believe it.
