Shg56I thought that SCA is for the lazy and/or for the ones who fly big ships so they don't have to watch 6 seconds rule. Now I know it has another application though it looks like it sets ship to orbit only you if travel between locations, not when you take off from the planet or station.
For me the main application is the station approach exploit.

Unless I remember it wrong and I'm thinking about the open source Pioneer.

Iwao KishiroOlder Elite (I guess... Frontiers?) had something like that.Nope, as far as I remember, you had to land manually in Frontier and FE.

Yuna SakashiroDr. Li Yong-Rui will celebrate his 110th birthday this year.
Sure would be cool if we could discover how to make humans live for so long and stay in such good shape.

Yuna SakashiroAccording to the lore, the old and rich use progenitor cells to rejuvenate themselves.
I also theorize they are used in extreme medical situations.

Then I stand corrected. Pioneer, which was heavily inspired after FE but improved with a lot of neat stuff, had that then.

Jubei HimuraPaul Glynn Every CMDR has a clone. Even if you will get blown up with your ship completely offline
While we do wake up back at the last station we docked with, we do not have clones. The in-game Lore is that our cockpit has a specialized escape pod that brings us back, or our pod was picked up by a Search-and-Rescue ship.
That's not to say that clones and mind transference don't happen. (it is mentioned in the official books)... it's just the exception, and not the rule.
My pet theory is that for ships we're actually always in the life capsule, or we would die from the extreme acceleration within the ship.
However, neither theory explain how we don't die on foot. It can't be a holo, as then we wouldn't die at all (and would also be unable to physically manipulate objects), and it can't be a capsule. Clone(s) could explain it. Maybe that explains why the life support is so big and heavy... It could just be gameplay over lore for foot gameplay however.

That's it, right there.
I mean, it's fun to try to Lore-out gameplay mechanics, but in the end (it doesn't even maaatterrrr) it's still a game. Gameplay should overrule lore in some situations to keep it fun (or tolerable...).
Could you imagine if your character suffered perma-death? The salt on the forums would overtake the universe.

Yuna SakashiroPermadeath light: On the rebuy screen always choose the free Sidewinder.
I have done that once or twice. Was... strangely satisfying.
