A list of all companions and crew members that can accompany you on your adventures or fulfill various roles on your ships and outposts (or both), including their skills, locations, and portraits.
You can meet and recruit all companions as you progress through the game. While some followers can be hired at no cost, many require a small fee in advance (typically around 15,000 credits) to join your crew. Certain companions have prerequisite quests that must be completed first before they will agree to join you. See the companion details for all their requirements, skills, and related quests.

Best companions and companion skills
In general, the best companions are those with a wide range of skills at higher ranks, also depending on their assignment, role and your personal preferences.
For example, for your ship crew, the best companions are Barrett, Sam Coe, Sarah Morgan, VASCO, Omari Hassan, or Gideon Aker, as they offer various bonuses to the ship's systems and weapons. Heller, Lin, Andromeda Kepler, or Rafael Aguerro are best suited for your outposts, enhancing material production. If you prefer a stealthy approach on your adventures, Andreja or Sophia Grace make great followers.
It's important to note that companion skills function differently than your skills, typically providing passive bonuses rather than active ones. Refer to the respective companion page or companion skill list for more details.

Companion equipment and affinity
All companions except VASCO can wield armor and weapons, same as you do and you can change their equipment. It's best to equip them with weapons that align with their weapon skills (if they have any), such as Particle weapons for Andreja, any rifle for Sam Coe, any laser weapon for Sarah Morgan, and so on.
Companions don't need ammo for their weapons; it's infinite, as far as you give them at least one piece of the required ammo (that includes also throwables like grenades, just one in their inventory is sufficient). Ensure that you equip any weapons, spacesuits, apparel, or grenades in their inventory for them to actively use.
Your followers can develop an affinity towards you, influenced by actions like your responses during conversations, rescuing hostages, or harming innocents. With high affinity, romancing options become available with Andreja, Barrett, Sam Coe, and Sarah Morgan.
