Hidden No More

Found a job to sink into obscurity, Not sure why I don't change my name to boot, go anonymous or with an alias. But shit, how is Papa going to find me on Vectera down in a hole with a cutter in my hands?

Annnd that didn't last long. Dug up some weird piece of metal that set a whole tumble of events in motion. Next thing I know Crimson Fleet is there, but not to grab me. They were chasing someone named Barrett. Anyway, long story short, he lent me his ship and sent me off to deliver this hunk of metal with psychedelic properties to a group called Constellation.

So off I go.

____

Crimson Fleet attacked in orbit and after that was dealt with, Vasco, my metallic babysitter, insisted we go to Kreet to finish off the base there. Ooookkkaaay. Just him and I going to take down a base. Dammned if we didn't succeed, and no one recognized me, but then I was only 6 years old when Mama left the Fleet and Papa behind. I wonder if Father even knows what I look like, or what he knows about me other than I am his kid and I'm, well, a girl. If I'm lucky, he only knows that Mama had spent the last 14 years on Neon, that she had a daughter with her, but no pictures of me that anyone could have taken.

Addition to log: Fleet base emptied of riff-raff and my pockets are jingling with cred-sticks. Leaving Kreet behind us; off we go to New Atlantis. Never been there. Looking forward to a new sky.

Note to self: Non-cargo ships are trickier with more pew-pews than the haulers I've learned how to fly. Get some lessons.

Constellation: The wallet, Walter Straud, is an ass, or at least he was at first. He apologized. Sarah Morgan is the president or "Chair", boss lady. She's all business and to the point. I like that to be honest. People that hem and haw and dance around subjects tend to be dancing around the truth anyway. Noel, all science and nipply about how the artifacts reacted to the hunk of metal I brought to the table. Gotta say, I was impressed too when the three hunks of metal rose up against gravity and came apart into even more pieces to form an unfinished sphere. Matteo, seems to be the theological element of the group. He thinks these artifacts came not from long forgotten aliens but from a higher power, God.

Anyway, Sarah is bringing me on a bit of "field work." She obviously could take Vasco instead, so I expect this is my try-out for the job. The grendel I appropriated from one of the Crimson Fleet corpses at that base could have been better and Constellation only had shotguns laying about, so I upgraded the grendel with a better barrel.

I think I really like the idea of this group, the exploration part, so I hope I do well on this mission.
