Inara updates, bug reports, requests
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.
Please vote for the issue on the official bug tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21258
Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.
Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

GraXXoRHow are total assets calculated? from the log or based on your fleet?
Assets = Fleet Value + Credits
Sounds simple, but to really "fix" it, it's rather complicated.
A ship's value is made up of its hull's value and the modules' value. As for the modules value, those can be found in the journal and are updated in Inara accordingly. But the hull value can't. Now the hull value can vary depending on your PF ranks and the location you buy that ship.
Now, to actually "fix" that, you have to hop into every ship you have, relogging every time and noting down their rebuy value (as this is the only value that hints at the actual ship value we have ingame). Afterwards, upload the journal containing each ship's loadout with module values and then edit the ship hull value of each ship to match the calculated rebuy with the actual rebuy.
And looking at your fleet... you might be off by a few hundred credits in the end, still. Only way to really make sure was to sell and rebuy every single ship you got

ArtieYeah, it is not easy stuff. But, as far as I know, there will be the overall assets value included in some of the future journal updates, which will make things easier.
This is also a problem not just from the journal update but whenever I manually enter credits... It completely throws off my assets value.
Here's a (simple) suggestion:
I enter my credits and assets (as I currently do).
Then the next time I enter just my credits with (say) the 10,000,000 I just made from a CG. It then adds 10,000,000 to the assets, too, based on the previously entered value above, not the fleet based value...
You could add a little button that says "Recalculate Assets" which does the auto calculate thing.
IMO, shifting the current automatic fleet based asset calculation to a "Recalculate assets" button would really streamline things for me.
Another thing is the auto comma adding... You've broken a cardinal rule in UI implementation: NEVER move the cursor in unpredictable ways during input or in a way that conflicts with established practice.... Sure it looks nice, but if you try to add, say 13 MCr to 1,234,567,890 Cr and you try to delete the 3 and 4 to enter 4 and 7 it adds commas in weird places and shifts the cursor to the end.
Let me explain: I delete the 3 and the cursor moves to the end... I move the cursor back to delete the 4 and the cursor moves to the end. I move the cursor back to in front of the 5 and type a 4 and the cursor moves to the end... So once more I move the cursor back in front of the 5 and type a 7!!!
I sometimes just end up typing the whole asset figure back in...
Please use the tried and tested UI paradigm where formatting is applied AFTER the enter key or OK button is pressed.
Cheers for all the hard work! Inara is one of the best 3rd party support sites I've ever had the privilege of using!
Keep up the fantastic work!

Draxxa Kirethhow fast or how ofeten does inara updated system status?i noticed that Eddb reflects fast after the server-tick the BGS-info, but inara is often 3-4 hors later....could it be set to update about 1 hour after server tick? sice they make use of the same data-pool?
My experience is that if I enter a system with EDDI running, if I refresh Inara, the relevant faction/system details have all updated - more or less straight away in most cases. But if no-one (running the approriate app) visits the system, nothing will be updated.

That's what i would have expected, as i use constantly EDMC.....and indeed, EDDB updates fairly fast, but then it still takes hours before Inara is updated....so somethign tells me it only happens once or twice a day....
is there a possibility to trigger an update (except for reload browser?)

This is unfortunately not so simple, because I don't know what happened meanwhile, for example player destroyed a ship, paid crime penalties, etc. So for example if the previous session was 500,000 Cr in credits and 1,500,000 Cr in assets and newly entered value is 100,000 Cr, I have no idea if assets should change to 1,100,000 Cr or, let's say, 5,786,453 Cr, because user was grinding hard and bought a new ship meanwhile (which lowered his credits, but significantly boosted his assets). This may be eventually a solution for the journal imports, where I know "what happened", but credits/assets are stored just on the session start anyway, as there are crew wage cuts missing in the journals at this moment, so the credits records on the session end are usually off.
The credits input formatting was a pretty requested feature, if I remember correctly and as the credits inputting is usually a straightforward act, there is no big issue with it. But, that cursor jumping to the end on edits is some new bug and it is really annoying. I will fix that.
Just a tip: You can also set a custom stored modules value in Fleet > Modules to cover the overall assets difference, if you do not want to fiddle with your ships and set proper values for them. It is a "dirty" way, but it works.

That's weird. If the BGS data were updated hours later, it means that it was probably updated by someone else at that time and not by you, because there is no reason for such delay (all the data coming from EDDN are updated near real-time here). What application did you used for the updates?
AWOLQuestion? I haven't really looked at it, but is EDDB, just straight info? I'm curious, is most information that is relevant to the game on EDDB or whatever posts to this site? BGS etc.? Chicken or the Egg?
If do you mean EDDN, from where are BGS and galaxy data coming, then yes. It basically contains straight info about the star system, minor factions in, etc.. But it has its limitations, for example that for the stations update must somebody dock in, for the star system info somebody must jump to it, etc.

as of 14.22 today....a mismatch between eddb and inara...and has been like that for the last 1.30 hr i guess...not sure if it will be that way by the time you have a chance to look

I'm not sure how much you know, so I'm going to give a really basic explanation, I'm not trying to b\talk down to you.
As I understand it, EDDB and Inara both pull their data from ROSS (run by the EDDB folks) and EDDN. ROSS has station and system info, EDDN has things like commodities and outfitting info. Both are populated by plugins like EDMC and ED-IBE. Then there's EDSM which is basically a giant map of the ED galaxy where commanders (mostly explorers) can track and post their travels. It only gets information ftom plugins like the ones mentioned above and journal imoorts, so if a system exists but no one's travelled thru it and uploaded it, EDSM doesn't know about it. There's also a lot of tools at http://edcodex.info. None of these third party tools get their info from Frontier, it's all player submitted. I'd ask if you use EDDB, for instance to find trade routes or modules, please consider running EDMC or similar. The data's only fresh and useful if people upload. Also, check out coriolis.edcd.io for all your ship designing needs.

In text form:
1) Programs on your machine may gather information from the Journal files (written by the game client) and the Companion API (run by Frontier).
2) They then may send that data a) over EDDN, b) Using a site-specific API (like EDSM's, and now Inara's beta one).
3) Sites can then listen on EDDN for it to relay that data to them.
I believe there's very little cross-pollination of data between the various sites, other than historical pre-seeding (i.e. use EDDB nightly dumps to get an initial set of systems/stations, and after that just listen on EDDN for updates).
ROSS is simply the part of EDDB that facilitates manual edits. Any such edits are *NOT* currently sent back out over EDDN for others' benefit (although I keep suggesting that an extra EDDN schema for such could be very useful).

Ah, I believe I've found the issue - there was a problem with the Location events there were ignored sometimes. It should be now fixed, thank you for bringing this to my attention. Please let me know if this problem will be still appearing.
