Commanders having Elite from Epic games store with http 400 error
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.
Please vote for the issue on the official bug tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21258

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.

Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

Hello Commanders,

I'd like to know how I'm doing compared to other people in my group. Is there a way to look at Squadron Commander INARA ranks in a list view?

If that's not something that's available and if I could request it, would that be possible please Artie?

Arne S. SaknussemmArtie,

really, are we serious? The General/Game talk thread is becoming a chat room for everything but game talk.
I really like to read people discussions about tv shows, quantum physic, yesterday meals and stuff but scrolling through 10+ pages of it without a single "game related post" seems a bit too much.

I know it is just me, but...

Hey, man... Nature abhors a vacuum. Be the change you want to see in the world. You want game chat, chat about the game.

I did it in the past and I do it when I need it. Otherwise I look for tips and tricks that may be useful in the future. Can't find any lately because no one is chatting about the game anymore, over there...

Keep at it though. The community is what we make of it. Personally, I'll take a few days of off-topic (as far as Elite goes) conversation, over the bitter fighting we've had about what is griefing, and how some players are carebears while others need to "git gud".

I see your point - this is Inara, not Reddit, and so we should keep closer to the topic of the game. But, discussing sci-fi or the physics of space flight, is relevant, if not exactly on topic of ED specifically.

Thanks for not to make me feel completely on the wrong side, pal.

It happended I had to stay away from Inara for a few days and when I came bac there were 100+ messages in the thread and maybe less than 10% were "game related".
I mean, I'm fine with it... it may just be better, if you know what I mean.

Oh, I completely know what you mean. When I have a busy week at work and come back to Inara to page after page after page of some discussion.... It's 1. hard to read through it all, to see if there is anything new and interesting or if it's people just rehashing the same thing over and over, 2. hard to scroll through to see if there is anything OTHER than the discussion that I might be interested in reading, 3. anything worth responding or contributing to at all, days after the fact... Etc... Usually, I just give up if it's more than three pages, skip to the end of the discussion, for the newest few comments, and just pick up from there.

At this point, I look at it as coming back from a trip - conversations happened that I wasn't a part of, and it's just too much effort to catch up to the details. Anything important is either still being discussed, or will come up again anyway.

I sometimes wish we had more threads and topics, like I've seen in other fora. That way, there can be a lively topic people are actively discussing, and if it doesn't interest me, I just don't click on it. But that has it's own drawbacks - one of which being it's a lot harder to moderate, and harder to keep up as a reader with the various threads.

I don't think there is, but that might be interesting. Do you mean an overall standing, like the Inara rankings filtered by squadron? Or more of a per-stat comparison?

My very same feeling...

Autocutting multiquotes after the third or fourth level might be a useful feature.

Indeed. It's sometimes hard (or lazy) to match the quote tabs - possibly colorizing, indenting or otherwise visually showing in the edit box... Collapsible quotes?

Good idea ... perhaps clip it, or maybe just enclose everything beyond 1 or 2 levels up in a "click to open" link, like "spoilers".

At the pace the general chat is moving at times I simply stopped reading it. No time for that much.

Best advice I can give is to grab Cygwin, learn how to use grep/awk/sed and go to town on your journal files.

That might sound flipant, but it really is the best way, and knowing how to use those commands will help you get a job in IT.

anyone know how to fix this, been adding in journals manually to keep it up to date but never do any live updates, neen like this since may 7.

"Not possible to obtain user journals from cAPI. The Frontier's service is down or cAPI didn't return any relevant data, please try to repeat your request later.
[httpCode: 206, fetchCode: 0]
Error: There was not possible to update your commander data."

Good idea about reducing the quotes in the discussions, I will do something about that.

About the more threads for the discussions - I am not strictly against it, but I still do not see the urgent need for that. Honestly, the General/game talk is the most lively thread here and the topic often flow between "strictly game-related" to "partially game-related" (like the recent physics discussion) with occasional islands of completely unrelated posts. As I think the "strictly" and "partially" game-related discussions belongs together and as unrelated topics aren't usually prevalent, it won't help too much with reading a lot of posts - it still will be in one thread.
Although creating a separate "general talk" thread may help a little bit, it may easily turn into a spammed chatting room nobody is reading too much and it will serve just as a "trash" place where the non-game posts from the other thread will be moved to. I am not sure it is the right direction and I at the moment rather prefer to have a friendly discussion in one place, even sometimes going off the rails slightly, than a place with "serious game talk" and a "chat room" filled with posts consisting by just a few words.

Is there anything wrong on my thoughs? I may be convinced to change this point of view.

There is no problem to add that, but it definitely won't show "global" ranking positions, just "local". So, for example, it won't show members with global ranks in order like 7., 25., 574., 14586., ... but 1., 2., 3., 4., .... Will it still hold the information required?

I am afraid nothing that can be done about that, just wait. Frontier's server didn't return the most recent journal on time, but that may get better later.

No simple way, only as Aunty said - calculating it on your journal files locally.
