Inara updates, bug reports, requests
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.
Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

My last import as of writing this, which happened around 5:00 GMT Friday, did not update Marco Qwent (I have him to Grade 5 Access) or the invites from his coat tail engineers. Ship also not updated with module he engineered (though I have not changed from that ship), but INARA is accurately showing the cargo I have in it as of logout.
Just as an FYI if you want to have a look. I’ll not do anything from my side.

Thanks! There appears to be really something wrong with the engineer progress updates, I will take a look on that as I now have a solid data to replicate the problem.
The ship loadout should be alright after your next session start, it's indeed a case of the ship loadout not being written into the journal after engineering.

Can I get a clarification on the Captain Badge? Specifically, which missions count toward VIP passengers? I spent a day running named passengers (not "12 refuguess" or "13 Tourists") running one-way fares between stations without seeing a change in my stat the next day.
Are the sightseeing tours specifically the ones needed?

VIPs are all the passengers that don't allow other passengers (from other missions) into their cabin. it's marked by the little mannequins having a diagonal line cross through them on the cabin selection screen.
Progress towards Inara medals only comes from the Frontier data import, not via EDMC, EDDI or other 3rd-party tools. All passenger missions should count towards the overall passenger count.

Okay, then I might have a bug to report. The missions I did yesterday were the by-cabin sort (3 people taking up a 12 person cabin sort of thing, as you described), and after updating several times manually, and waiting until this morning to allow it to happen naturally, I've gotten no change in VIP passengers, but the missions have been added to the log here.

Update: I found that disabling the "High Definition Audio Device" in Device Manager seems to have solved the problem, at least it did in the game menu. Tomorrow I will see if it will work in-game so I can finally take part in the CG ????

it's not possible anymore to connect to Inara with my iPad (not that old, but eol'ed and stuck with Safari 9), which is very unfortunate since reading at the PC is far less practicable. I'm assuming some changes to the web servers security settings (SSL/TLS versions), perhaps automatic with an update. Could this be reverted?

Hello, the Let's Encrypt's root certificate expired yesterday and it may cause a problem on the old devices. In your case, anything below iOS 10 may have a compatibility problems, so if your iPad is able to update to the latest iOS versions, please try that.

No, unfortunately iOS 9.3.6 with Safari 9 is the latest this iPad can get. Due to Apple's policy to not allow any other browser engine, still good enough hardware is broken by their software.

Ah, then you can try this workaround and add the certificate manually. It seems it should work.
