Commanders having Elite from Epic games store with http 400 error
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.
Please vote for the issue on the official bug tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21258

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.

Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

As ever, a huge thank you to Artie for all the work you put into maintaining this magnificent resource.

Best trade Route is a nice little feature thank you.

I can imagine a Pirate would find that information helpful too. Good job they don't read Inara.

Honestly, I was quite surprised how many good trade routes are over the galaxy. I thought that 10-20k Cr per unit are quite good profits, but certainly didn't expect there is so much great trade routes with profits over 40k. Those are mainly from the outposts at the moment, but I think that I've seen some even from the large stations during the tests with older prices.

Thanks for the changes, Artie. I'll take me a bit to get used to the new functionality.

The Market link used to know my current location, so that if I had the page on auto-reload, it would update as I traveled around. It doesn't seem to do this anymore. Am I missing something or does it just not work that way anymore?

It still does work that way, but do not reload the page with the form variable sets (like you have sent the form at the top of the page). The form state is remembered across the sessions and if the actual location was changed meanwhile, it gets updated, but any refresh with the variables set will override it (as it is considered as a newer information). You can just visit the https://inara.cz/market/ address and it will remember the form/search settings set and also always put your actual location in there.

Thank you very much for the trading changes, this is like a second christmas!

Indeed, the mining price changes from november/december made those 40k+ routes a reality since not all of those were for mining-only ores.

ArtieA new Inara update, primarily intended to improve the life of traders. Because the only right way how to play Elite is to be a galactic trucker, right?
  • Market overhaul: The market section was one of the oldest parts of Inara and although it was improved over the years, its core was a hot candidate for a complete rewriting. So it happened - the new market should be a little bit faster, should provide you a better overview of the trades possible, it has a few new settings, and so on. On top of that, you can mark any trade route as a favorite and store it for future reference.
  • Best trade routes: A brand new feature that goes through all the known markets in the galaxy (read: known to 3rd party tools) and finds the best trade routes available. Once again, you can adjust it with additional filters and store any trade route as your favorite. The market opportunities here are quite an old feature that still deserves some enhancements and improvements (I will take a look at that later) but may complement your efforts of finding good profitable routes.
  • Inara rankings adjustments: Judging from the frequent questions like: "Commander XYZ has a better score than me, although his medals are worse! What's wrong!?" it was apparent that the rankings mechanics are not clear enough and sometimes even demotivating. The rankings and medals are both using the game stats but weren't directly related to each other, and it was the primary source of the confusion. There was made a change that rankings and medals are now more related. It still uses the same game stats, but the connection is more apparent. To describe it simply - ranking up your medals and progressing in these will directly affect your rankings score, so you will always have a clear idea of what to do to increase your ranking score (aside from the regular Pilot's federation ranks, of course). The only exception is the Xeno-hunter medal - as there are no lifetime values in the game stats, it's hard to objectively use such values and thus it has no effect on the rankings (at least for now, let's see if Odyssey will change something). The change favors generalists, commanders doing everything than specialists focusing on a single activity. But I believe it's just fair.
Another frequently suggested feature was adding rankings for the squadron members. So it's here - you can find it under Roster > Squadron rankings on your squadron page.
  • There was also another bunch of minor improvements and fixes made with this update, as usual. Namely a few new roles, an option to add an image to your fleet carrier, an option to remove ship images, fix for rescue/transport missions not being correctly counted to Thargoid war stats sometimes, and so on...
I hope you will like these changes and it will bring many credits to your accounts.

Can I request some filters for this section?

I think this would help immensely to navigate through the lists, which are otherwise not really functional...
To make better use of new filters they could also include more data like on the Bulletin Board under factions.

Currently I am trying to figure out how many Player Minor Factions there are aligned to each Superpower / are independent.
I am also trying to get a list of all four categories. I have some outdated ones that I try to update manually. That is very inefficient and tiresome
And then there's the risk of human error...
A few filters would be all I need and they will be a great addition for all the data lovers out there who are engaged in the BGS or just looking at the changing landscape for fun.

I hope this is not a lot of work for you and can be put on an immediate roadmap.

Not a lot of work, but no ETA. I am certainly having some general search improvements on the list for the future update/s, so maybe this one will make it there, too.

Idea:
- Make "Missing components" sortable on each "level" of mats ( so a single in game line g1-g5)
Right it can be a bit of a struggle if you need a lot of maths to constantly search for the right mat in game. I

- Make Personal Logs searchable.

Wow brilliant m8, thanks for all your hard work.

Oh wow, just seen you also fixed it so that carriers cargo now lists the items only once, instead of multiple times for the varying cost of the item.
Great work, loving what I see so far !!!!
So good I can now click on my cargo amounts and see what things I need to collect much easier, it was hard work when you have as many items as I do.

Thanks

Nope. Not really digging the new Market layout.

I'm thinking the Market filters would sit better in the right hand margin, or behind some collapsible control to make them go away when not wanted.. The filters and the list of stations are taking up most of my screen right now, with actual market data needing to be scrolled down to see.

May be just me - but the way I'm set up, I have Inara up always on a laptop off to the side of my main monitor. This way, market data for the station I'm at is always just a glance away. With the new layout, it's hands off HOTAS and on to the laptop keyboard to click/scroll/etc (this involves adjusting my chair position from what it is), to see what was previously just visible. The yes/no and pad size filters could also be much smaller, icons with an explanation on-hover instead of using as much space as they do.

I'm whining about it because the previous layout was just an eye movement away and felt like having an information panel in the ship cockpit. The new layout requires me to mentally switch out of the game and into Inara - the context switch is a distraction and having to interact (click/scroll, etc) with Inara to get the info that was previously brought to me by default, is irritating. Sorry to say it, since I know you work hard and deeply care, but I think you had the right/better design the first time.

Having to scroll to see the results of a change in filter selection feels a bit chunky. It's a personal preference for me to have information more densely packed. More whitespace may look cleaner, but it requires more clicking and scrolling and time to get to what I'm looking for. Packing the useful information more densely makes it fit better on a smaller screen. I have Inara on a 17" laptop and the new look overwhelms the screen. On the "big monitor" where I play, it's definitely better, but I have to ALT-TAB away from the game to access it, and that's a distraction/risk to ship if I get interdicted while looing at the market info.

It was very convenient for me to see imports, exports and suggested trade routes all on one view. I could select station after station in a system and get a sense of the entire system. With the new layout, I need to change stations, then click through Imports, Exports, round trips, etc, AND scroll around, just to get what was previously one click away.

Also, not crazy about the filter that combines distance and profit.
