Commanders having Elite from Epic games store with http 400 error
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.
Please vote for the issue on the official bug tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21258

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.

Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

Hmmm... well, how it works technically - the market page (and form) takes the values from the URL parameters first. When none set, it will take the previously known form values (so it retain the settings, etc.), then it compare the timestamp of those values stored with the timestamp of the latest location change (either set from API, import or manually on the site). If the location change timestamp is newer than the stored value, the location is overridden. So, importing the data again will very likely do nothing (because the latest location timestamp from there doesn't change), but the actual recent API updates (or imports) should have an effect. So, if you are still visiting just the /market and not fiddling around, it should retain the latest value known (which should be the location get from the API/imports, as it's a newer value).

Example:
T+00: User is visiting /market page with Lave set
T+01: User is visiting /market again, Lave is still set
T+02: An API update came with a location Sol
T+03: User is visiting /market once again, Sol should be set
T+04: Another API update, with a new location Sirius
T+05: User is visiting /market, Sirius should be set
T+06: User is wandering around the market page, click around the stations, trades, etc. and ends with Duamta market page opened
T+07: User is visiting /market, Duamta is still set
T+08: Another API update, with a new location Ross 154
T+09: User is visiting /market, Ross 154 should be set

Does it work that way or at what point exactly it goes wrong (as you mentioned it does work sometimes)? I would like to know the step-by-step how to replicate the issue, because at this point I am not even sure where exactly it doesn't work as intended.

Edit: Now one reason why it doesn't work actually came to my mind. Another example:
T+01: Docked event is written into the journal
T+02: Market page is refreshed and timestamp T+02 is stored
T+03: The Docked event is sent to Inara via API
T+04: Market page is refreshed, but as the Docked event receieved was with timestamp T+01 and the page was renewed at T+02, the location is not overridden.

May that be a case? If yes, then I think that some improvements can be possible.

Not sure where it is breaking down. The page is refreshing regularly, but the location doesn't update when I transit systems of dock. Previously, the tab refresh would reflect the system I'm currently in, and would select presumably the main station until I actually docked, at which point, upon refresh it would show the correct current station.

It seems that whatever location I manually set on the market page (i.e. to do recon on that station to see if it is worth visiting) persists, even if it isn't my actual location. If I navigate away to another page, then return to Market via the Nav, the last selected station is displayed. So, say I am in Sol on Columbus station. I click through a few of the stations for best round trips, drive into the Commodities prices, then click Market again - I *should* (I think) be looking at Columbus in Sol again (as it's my "current location"), right? But I DO actually see the last station I manually selected.

Is there a way to see what Inara thinks my "current location" is? I can see in my Flight Log that my location is correct, but the Market just refuses to pick this up unless I manually set it there. And then when I look at other systems, that current location seems ignored.

In the Market, if I do set it to the system I'm currently in, the "My Current Location" is highlighted (blue button) - but this is regardless of what station I select.

Thanks for the details. Also please see the edit of the post before, I believe that may be a cause of the problem. Either way, I will adjust it to avoid this kind of problem tomorrow and let's see if it will solve the issue.

Thanks Artie, I really appreciate you digging in to this.

On the order of operations side, should I adjust the tools I'm using on the gaming machine? I currently sync from tools to both Inara and Frontier, and I'm suspecting there may be some sort of a race condition happening that gets in the way of the operations Inara goes through. I mean, in all cases the system and station change but I wonder if things are going out of sync and thus not updating correctly because it may SEEM no update is warranted?

I think no changes are necessary (I suppose just one of the apps is sending to the API and the journals via web are imported after the session end or via auto-updates. This setup is perfectly alright).

The only two things I cannot recommend is to having multiple apps sending to API at once (partly because it's redundant and pointless, partly because in some rare cases it may cause minor inconsistency, depending how and when the individual app sends the data). The other thing is using the Frontier data import for real-time updates (it's hugely ineffective, because Frontier's server always provides an entire journal for the day, which needs to be downloaded and parsed as a whole again and again and also because it may not always provide most recent data for the real-time updates (I think the journals internally are assembled from the "chunks/buckets" and until such "bucket" is not full or the session was not ended or something like that, it's not added to the journal). The API is certainly much better for real-time updates and tailored for that. The journal import is for the filling the gaps or keeping the profile up-to-date with daily updates (and providing the data that needs to be rock-solid, like stats for rankings, etc.).

Gotcha! Thanks! I'll see about making sure only one of the apps is feeding the Inara API. Have you any preference between EDMC, EDDI or EDDiscovery in terms of which is more comprehensive or reliable?

All are reliable and all should be handling the API stuff same way, as far as I know (there may be just some minor differences like when it sends the credits to update). So it's rather just about the personal preference.

Note: There was a minor "background" Inara update performed. Mostly just some internal changes, minor fixes and improvements (like displaying last update in Nearest when the market service is selected, etc.). But, this update should also handle better the location changes for market and commodity searches, so I hope it will be more comfortable. Basically, all forms are independent, but when the location of the commander change (either via API, import or manual setting), the location in the forms is overridden. Also, when the market location change, this change is reflected in the commodity search, so you don't need to set it anew there. When the commodity search location is set manually, the value is now retained until a newer information is known (either from the commander's location update or from the market page). If you keep the location blank in the market, routes and commodity forms, it will get populated by your latest location known (so you can "reset" it that way, without typing the exact name). I hope this will rid off some annoyances and limit the needs of re-typing the star names in the forms, so you can be just clicking around.

Having a better search functions for the Commander's > Fleet And Modules > All Modules page would be very handy:
- Text input for fuzzy search for all columns (Example: Searching for "shield gen 4" to find all shield generators size 4, regardless of class [A/B/C/D/E] or variety [regular/prismatic/bi-weave])
- Dropdown filter for category of module: Hardpoints, Optional, Core, Internals (Example: Searching for any engineered weapon to strip from an old ship to fit into a new one)

I've recently dipped my toe into Thargoid combat, and the Thargoid War section is great.

Once a system has been selected, it would be really helpful if the "Commanders in the fight" table could be sorted in the same way as the "Recent battle reports" so I can track my progress and work towards my goal of "war hero" status.

update: I have just realised that the "Your statistics" section includes "Selected conflict (recent)" which gives me enough to compare myself against the leaders. So, whilst the table sorting would still be nice I can work without it if it's tricky.

On a side note. Are the rescue stats working? I picked up some people and sold them to the local Search and Rescue, does that not count?

Pretty sure this is not an INARA bug. but just something you do not understand.

Hi Artie,

I have a Cmdr ShabbyJ who is having trouble with INARA.  He recieves the following message when trying to log in.

Please no mass site scraping by using scripts or other techniques, thank you.

If you believe this is an error, please try it again later or let me know...
