Commanders having Elite from Epic games store with http 400 error
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.
Please vote for the issue on the official bug tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21258

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.

Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

Yeah, my error, it was shown wrong for an hour. My apologies. It's fixed now.

Just a minor update: Aside of some minor quality of life improvements, there were some further checks added for the fleet carriers with unknown/outdated docking privileges to the commodities listing (and I forgot to turn the regular stations back on after testing, which was a cause of the problem with the stations disappearance there ) and also there were made some improvements regarding discounts in the outfitting searches.

I don't know if it's already posted, failed to check but if you add a new image, then posted you hit next page in the footer, the system will again popup the page to insert a new image.

I guess it's surely a "zero priority side task" and not even a "bug", probably posted before (didn't found though), but userpics in "Recent Stories" section are appearing cropped. PC/Win10, Firefox, 1920x1080. Mobile version viewed on Android device shows the same. Maybe make an image container smaller, to fit square userpic in a 3-line preview and leave some gray space on bottom or/and top for 4-lines?

Thanks for the report, I will take a look on that.

You mean the bottom of the image, right? I can do something with that, that shouldn't be a big problem. If you mean another kind of cropping, then screenshot please.

ArtieYou mean the bottom of the image, right?

Exactly. Userpics, originally square-shaped, are having their height cropped, with large part of bottom is missing. It's 120x100px in 3-line previews and 120x110px in 4-line, as I see now.

p.s. Resizing the image container in these previews to 100px in width should effectively nail the bug, if there's no stretching settings that would make 4-lined previews look a bit weird.
p.s.2. ...or, maybe, fixing the preview height on 120px value, if userpics are pre-scaled to 120x120.

Hi,
is it planned to include an owned carrier to the listed assets?

I'm learning how to use this site and am currently playing with the "trade route" stuff.
When I use the "favourite trade routes" page on my PC I can see a column showing supply and demand. On my tablet and phone I don't see it. When I shrink the window width on the PC browser, that column goes away, so I guess it's a responsive mode thing, but I haven't found a way to make the column show on the Android browsers (forcing desktop mode didn't help).

So, two questions: firstly, is there a way to force the supply/demand column to show? It's very useful. (Choosing columns in general would be nice [edit: meh, on second thoughts, no real need for that ].)
Secondly: is there a way to get the supply/demand in the "best trade routes" window? It doesn't ever seem to show up there for me.

Hey,

Just looking for some info. Is there a “help” page that describes all of the different states that show up on the minor factions page?

I pretty much know what most of them indicate but I would like to know the difference between the colonisation state and the expansion state.

I used the search to look for minor factions in colonisation. It came up with two both entering uninhabited systems... So does this indicate a faction that is expanding to a previously faction free system? (Essentially expanding the bubble?)

I thought it wasn’t possible to expand into empty systems.

Hello, please see this official bug report and vote here. As it's incorrect also in the game, it's a problem better to be fixed directly by Frontier, than to do some quite problematic workarounds.

I am planning to do some further adjustments later today or tomorrow to help with the navigation, so hopefully it will make it easier to use the site for you.
About the favorite trade routes - yes, I think that I can squeeze it in there even for lower resolutions, I will take a look on that.

Not here at the moment, but the more detailed information about background simulation and states can be found on the wiki (there are also links to more detailed guides at the bottom of the page).

Colonisation state is a state that was (kinda) implemented in a past beta of the game. There are a couple other states like this, e.g. "cold war" and "trade war". Even in that beta, these states were not seen pending/active anywhere, and to this date in the live game, there have been zero appearances of those states in the BGS.

As such, yes, it is currently impossible to colonize uninhabited systems unless FD manually "do" it.

REQUEST:

Any thought in allowing branded squadron links? For example, the current format is https://inara.cz/squadron/<number>

Is there any plans to allow the name of squadrons in the link like:

https://inara.cz/squadron/MySquad OR https://MySquad.inara.cz ??

Could be a premium feature that would help support the site and would be willing to pay for it.

Thanks,

As a part of the domain name almost certainly not. As a part of the URL maybe, it's not a much problem. I was keeping the ID there as it's resistant to any squadron name changes, but... well, that may be on the squadron owner's responsibility, which URL format will use.

Galaxy and Market structure overhaul

As Inara grew over time, multiple things started to be too much clustered together and became quite overwhelming at the first look. The previous "test balloon" in the form of moving commodities and some searches out of the "Galaxy" section elsewhere was proven to be well-received (based on the visit stats and also on the feedback), so there is one step further:

  • The previous "Market" section was renamed to "Data" and all outputs directly related to the game data were moved there (commodities, star systems, stations, shipyard, outfitting, engineers, and so on). This way you will have all the data in one place and it won't be scattered across multiple sections anymore.
  • The existing "Galaxy" remains as is, minus the direct data mentioned above and will cover general happenings in the galaxy like community goals, Thargoids, news, community content, and derived statistics.

All the custom shortcuts are retained and will point to the respective places, so you don't need to change anything. Also, your browser bookmarks will remain unchanged (there are URL aliases set), so the transition should be smooth. Although I understand that habit is second nature and it may take a little time to settle with the changes, I hope these changes will make your use of Inara more comfortable in the end.
