Commanders having Elite from Epic games store with http 400 error
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.
Please vote for the issue on the official bug tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21258

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.

Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

May have found/hit a bug.
I have been trading Monazite (among other things) and just offloaded some at https://inara.cz/market/12190/1062/ (Smith Terminal | Fortuna), having found this station via Inara's "best imports" function.
Having just left it (with price and demand still both very high), I have re-run the best imports and exports for Monazite and am puzzled that Smith Terminal isn't showing up at all. I loaded the market page for it to see if the data had changed, but it hasn't - the price and demand on that page should still be listing it under best exports. It's even listing another station in the same system as Smith, so I don't think it's something stupidly simple like "won't find station in your current system".

Edit: it shows up when I use "imports". Am confused about exactly which criteria are kicking in for "best imports" vs "imports" though, because there are plenty of stations with a buy-price LOWER than Smith that are still showing up in the "best imports" page...

Should be better now. I was keeping at least some carriers in there as it was useful for their early days (so they may have pushed out some "lower" stations sometimes), but as it's not very needed now, I have removed i t.

ArtieShould be better now. I was keeping at least some carriers in there as it was useful for their early days, but now it's not very needed.

Umm, very puzzled now!
I have previously been avoiding carriers like the plague, but tonight I've made a few hundred million by trading minerals from (and sometime to) carriers with the aid of Inara. I'd have been entirely unable to do this if they weren't listed, cos EDDB still doesn't say if you can dock at them. So, while yesterday I'd have voted to remove them, today I see things differently

Also, the change to remove carriers doesn't seem to explain why Smith Terminal was missing, unless the whole goods system was in some sort of in-between state?

(Btw, micro-bug in the forum system: when you hit the "QUOTE" button, it sends a bunch of text to the editor window but leaves the cursor within the quoted block, which I think explains quite a lot of confused posts where people have entered their replies within the quoted text )

It was working a way it merged two "buckets" together, one with the fleet carrier prices, one with the regular station prices. As there is an overall limit to max. items listed, it may happened that the carriers from the first bucket pushed out the bottom (stations with lower prices) of the second bucket up to some limit (which was a case with the Smith Terminal). I made it this way to motivate player-to-player trades early on. But, as it's now quite settled down, it's not necessary, so it can both be in a single bucket/query. The carriers will be still there, but just need to have the competitive prices in comparison to stations. Basically, no major change, there will be just less carriers with less-than-competitive prices displayed (nobody was very likely interested in those anyway).

And yes, fleet carrier can bring very nice profits and I am trying to show the most relevant carriers possible by combining multiple factors, like time of update, docking privileges set to all and so on. Of course, it won't help much for the commodities that are sold out in a few minutes, but it should work generally otherwise.

(The problem with quoting noted.)

Ahh OK, thanks for explaining.
I hadn't seen any carriers at all in the listing for Monazite buyers and thought that you had removed them entirely but I now suspect that I just missed the (very) small number that were still listed

There's something separate that I'm still not understanding about how the goods listings work. When I choose "exports" for Monazite ("Where to buy Monazite near Fortuna") it lists a bunch of places ranging in distance from 20 to 7000 ly and in price from 200 k/ton to 2001 k/ton. When I then choose "best exports", it gives me a shorter list of places, even though the range of prices and distances is identical.
I had expected that it might give me a longer list if the "exports" list had a distance cap from my chosen system or a shorter list if the buying price for "best exports" had a cap, but neither seems to be true.

Yes, the best imports/exports are having a time limit condition extra, also to provide more relevant results. The logic is that people looking for best import/export are looking for profit right now, while the export/imports are for people that simply want to buy/sell anywhere nearby fast, for any price. And because some people simply are ignoring the "last update" column and then are complaining about the prices not being in the station when they arrive, I've simply put some "hard" time limits there. It's technically their fault, but it reduced complaints almost to zero (and also provides better results for heavily populated lists in the end).

Awesome, thanks!

Love the site guys. I'm in IT and the sheer breadth of the features you guys have implemented amazes me. Having this amount of data to play with would give me goosebumps. Told an old classmate of mine that these are the sort of the more exotic things they taught us at University that a lot of us have never really gotten a chance to put into practice.

On to my suggestion:

In the crafting lists. Allow us to disable rather than delete some items so they don't show up in the Missing Components section. Rationale being that sometimes you have a long term list of items you're working towards in your crafting list but something comes up and u want a quick query to see if you have everything you need to outfit a new ship etc. It would be good to be able to disable the other items and see the missing components for the new items only w/o having to delete the long term ones.
In my use case I was preparing a trip to Colonia and wanted to make sure I had all the mats to level the Engineers up to G5. Kept that in the crafting list. However I finally got a Cutter and wanted to outfit it so I had to delete the old list and put in the requirements for the Cutter instead and put them back after I was done.
This way you don't go through the effort of getting something that only applied to the older items.

I think this sounds a little easier to implement than what I'd really want. Named Lists

Keep up the good work

NaviticusI haven't been able to import my data for days now keeps saying

"There was a problem with Frontier's service while requesting the data. Please wait a couple of hours and then try to repeat your request.
[httpCode: 0, fetchCode: 28]"

Any advice or links to post to fix this?

I have adjusted your import date to skip the problematic journals not being served by Frontier's server, please try again.

Now when you think about it maybe you could implement an option marked as "danger" to import latest journal only, might be useful for people who already update their profile with tools like EDMC and for them the only real use from importing it from Frontier directly is to update the badges and statistics.

The same issue happens a lot to me, I usually check it from time to time and try to force it to update, eventually it goes through.

Just a heads-up: InaraAPI will be temporarily disabled around the Odyssey alpha start until it will be checked the local journal files are having expected headers, so tools won't be sending your alpha data via API and messing your Inara profiles in a case the headers will be other than expected.

Hello, yes, the crafting lists improvements are something I would like to take a look at after Odyssey (probably not sooner, as it seems there will be a ton of new things to implement).

I was thinking about something like that, with the skipping such journals, but decided not to do it. It just complicates things and as people often don't read anything, I can clearly imagine somebody skipping the stuff although they shouldn't and then complaining it doesn't work.

Just to make sure I understand correctly, will that impact tools like EDMC, Frontier data import or both? If it's only third-party tools, should we stop using the Inara sync feature on them for the time being, e.g. to lower server load, or will that make no difference?

Good idea. Never thought of that. Just presumed that repetitions would be validated to be non-zero I guess.
28 Mar 2021, 3:33pm
It will impact just the third party tools sending the updates to the Inara API. Direct journal imports from Frontier's server will be unaffected. I suppose the downtime won't be long, but if the alpha journals will contain headers that 3rd party apps won't be handling properly, they may be temporarily disabled until they release a new version (a minimal app version will be required in the API). Stopping using them around that time certainly won't harm (to prevent some unexpected situations, depends how well the app handles the API downtime), but it should make no difference otherwise.

Yeah, would really need like 10 confirmations "Are you sure?" so people don't use it accidentally.

Also dropping by a suggestion:
https://inara.cz/component/103/
How hard it would be to have a link that automatically does the system search that match the material's criteria (State = Boom etc.)?
