Commanders having Elite from Epic games store with http 400 error
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.
Please vote for the issue on the official bug tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21258

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.

Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

Apologies if this has been requested before, but a great feature to have would be the ability to automatically create crafting list entries for the differences between a ship's current and target loadouts. This could be an opt-in feature with a checkbox on the import loadout pop-up. Ideally, this sort of automatically generated crafting list entry would update when the current loadout changes, i.e. I apply engineering upgrades to a module. Not sure how the logic would work if you intended to replace a module with a completely different one, not just engineer the one already on the ship though... ????

HirasansI cannot find any FAQ how to use some features of Inara so I'm asking here:

In gallery some images have clickable link in Location field, how can I do this?

My guess is it depends upon whether Inara has data for that system or knows about it.

Domaq I'TahHey Artie,

A recent CG made the upgraded Detailed Surface Scanner v1 from a few months ago available to purchase at Human Tech Brokers as one off items (not just an unlock). Can we please add it to the site?

Thanks! The module was added (it just broke the tech broker list a little bit, it will be fixed later this week).

Morwocan Codex discoveries be tracked and displayed by my inara profile? i may have missed it

It's problematic, because there is no complete list of codex entries in the journal, just the recent entries/discoveries as they are made. So, maybe, but not now (as it will be incomplete for most players).

Please use the star system name there (I should probably add more info about it there) and if it will be in the database as Ambient.Impact mentioned, it will create also a link.

Yes, definitely a thing high on the todo list.

Just a bunch of improvements and additions:
  • Added an option to search stations by their owner (minor faction) in the nearest station search.
  • Added extra options for the outfitting searches (exact landing pad size, station distance, and surface stations).
  • All surface settlements now have their landing pads set to "small" by default. The proper landing sizes will be continually populated after the game patch 5 release (tomorrow), so you may not want to filter them out for the commodity, trade route searches, etc. as you can miss the opportunities.
  • Added a new medal The mercenary for the Odyssey on the ground combat. You may need to import your data first (via Import Frontier data feature), to properly reflect your latest numbers. More medals will follow once I will collect more statistics (for the exobiology stuff, collecting things, etc.)
Also, I would like to ask you to provide your Mercenary and Exobiologist rank images from the game (from the list below), either from the right-side panel in the ship or from your Codex (so I can finally put it together for Inara). Please post them here in the discussion or send them to me via PM. Thank you!

Had an idea while flying last night...

The "nearest" search feature is incredibly useful as it is, but I think a nice extension of it could be "nearest along route."

For example, last night I flew out to HIP 12099 (Jameson Crash Site) to top up on encoded materials, to prep for doing some FSD engineering at Khun. I'll need to do some trading for the specific materials I need, so I was trying to determine the most convenient material trader *between the two systems*. I did this manually by searching for the material traders closest to HIP 12099 and closest to Khun, then cross-referencing the two lists, and if a system appeared on both lists, I added the distances to determine the shortest total trip. It took a little while.

I don't know the code under the hood for the existing "nearest" search feature, but hopefully this could be implemented pretty easily. It should just be querying the distances from your starting point to the list of matching systems/stations/bodies (whatever it is you're looking for), repeating for distances from the destination to the matching systems/stations/bodies, and then adding them together and sorting the result.

While I'm at it, also wanted to give a huge thanks for the resources you have here. Whenever I fly, I have a tablet, with Inara (as well as some other sites) pulled up, next to me as my copilot.

-Tobias

Hmmm.... having some kind of sort or filter may be quite easy without the performance hit, as it will basically just prioritize stations in the general direction to the target star system. The simplest approach is just to take the vector and weight the found star systems by their distance from that vector. It won't copy the exact route as planned in the game, of course, but may provide results "good enough". I will think about that.

This is probably a known issue, but when I'm out in the Black the Nearest Stations/FC searches always return "no valid search results detected within nearest 500000 LY" and, um, I'm pretty sure that a) there are valid results within 5kLY and b) that there are definitely stations within 500000LY (probably the entire map max diameter).

Which star system was used as a point of reference, please?

Artie Which star system was used as a point of reference, please?

Pretty much every system when I'm far from the Bubble

I'm currently at Traikee QD-T d3-16 and here is the screenshot of the page:

Ooh, that approach is much more elegant (and likely more accurate) than what I had in mind. Nice! Agreed that it wouldn't follow the exact in-game route, distance off the vector makes perfect sense.
