Commanders having Elite from Epic games store with http 400 error
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.
Please vote for the issue on the official bug tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21258

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.

Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

Bit of Feedback on the materials trading.

First, thanks for this feature, I've found it very helpful on a few occasions.

Second, would it be possible to include a distance filter? So I could still sort by age but filter out the results over 20kly away?

Third, I've had a bit of an issue looking for Financial projections the last couple of days. Of 5 carriers that listed stock, two had sold out, one wasn't in the same system any more, and two didn't have an active bar.

I saw what you wrote about the difficulties in determining stock so I guess there's not much to be done about the first type right now, although perhaps visitors could mark the result as out of date. If the mark can't be verified it could still return the result to others, just show a marker and let people decide if they want to risk the trip.

With the third I think the search results should cross check against carriers missing the bartender service and exclude them.

Edit: Made neater and removed a bit of speculation.

StreamyDennyGood morning/afternoon/evening. I'd like to make a simple request regarding station information.

I recently came to notice a bunch of locations that were wrongfully listed as Odyssey Surface Settlements, whilst in reality they are Surface Ports/Stations or Horizons Surface Settlements in game. Now I know that this was because their data wasn't updated in a long time, so that's what I did with the help of a couple of friends, updating these locations by using tools such as EDMC so that their station page reflects their actual type of station in game..
...

Hello and thanks for the report and the updates! It seems the problem is in the landing pads not being re-set when changing the station type via manual edit. I will fix that and also adjust the affected stations/pads retrospectively. Setting the station type is usually sufficient to get the landing pad size, with an exception of Odyssey-only settlements (but there may be a visual check in the game often misleading, so it's best to simply dock there as it will record all the pads available into the journal and it's then updated via EDMC and so on).

Black_fyreHi Artie,

looks like I'm another victim of fetchCode 28
As with the others, failing date is the 10th, probably also caused by heavy relogging.
Sorry, I'll try to be more patient in the future.

Thanks.

I saw what you wrote about the difficulties in determining stock so I guess there's not much to be done about the first type right now, and the second isn't anything new, but with the third would it be possible to use visitors docking entries to determine when a given carrier doesn't have a bartender and hide those entries, or perhaps flag them?

(I'm using EDDiscovery to sync my journals to Inara, so I'm also assuming that it's sending the full 'docked' event that includes that information)

I had one carrier that I visited last night that didn't have one, and it came up again 'updated 5 minutes ago' so I went back just to check if they'd re-enabled it and it was still suspended, so apparently the owners auto update doesn't show it as inactive?

Thanks for the feedback!
About the updates - it's entirely possible that some material may be gone very fast. As far as I noticed, the highly sought items are being sold even within a few minutes. Some people are also opening the bars just to sell some things and disabling it afterwards. For the materials, the age of the information (the last update displayed) is especially important. It seems that Frontier will add a similar support as for the commodity markets in the game update 12, so the situation with sold out bartenders being reported should improve a bit after that I guess. I will think about that distance filter.

Hi Artie, Cant fetch data from FDev Servers since about 4 days or so.
Is there anything i can do?

Error is:
Auto-update is enabled, but an error has occurred. The next attempt to update your commander's profile will be performed as soon as possible (is currently waiting in queue).

Auto-updater game data update error
Only partial data was received from Frontier's service. Please wait a minute or two and then try to repeat your request.

Edit2: The error above is actually from the automated updater.
The manual updater (after a loooong time) gives this error.

Thank you for your response. Yeah I've noticed that pads and other relevant information present no problems being updated with most stations, kudos on that. Really the issue comes only with Horizons Surface Settlements, since well... they're completely untargetable and undockable .-.

I'm sure you guys will be able to get this small itch resolved. Have a happy rest of the weekend!

A small survey about commander profile pages (I am currently working on some changes, but got to the point where the feedback will be very useful before proceeding further). So:
  • For your own CMDR profile - what do you would like to see on its frontpage and is not there already? Also, what you do not want to see there or you don't need to have there, from things that are already present?
  • Similarly, for other CMDR profile pages - what do you would like to have there when looking on other commander profiles and is not there and same as above, what do you don't need to have displayed?
My current thinking is that I would like to reduce the currently quite bloated CMDR profile frontpage to the most important things, so maybe removing the fleet from there (except the main ship), removing the Navy and squadron ranks (will be still present in the ranks page), maybe put some badge-like alternatives for medals or have just a few of the high-tier medals (medals will be still in full on the awards page), reducing the credits and assets? I am open to the ideas...

for me it looks good like it is but i can imagine that the profile page cause a lot of data load to gatering all needed informations.. for every commander, all day..
so it is needed to reduce a few things i would suggest the character biography and the credits overview, for me are both a deeper character look so no need to be on top.

ranks and history shows a good character overview (actual status and what done the last time).. could be interinsting for visitors.. the fleet overview i like very much.
if needed to reduce how about showing only the last active used ships the last months.. weeks.. but for me it could stay like it is. thats all so far.. excited on other suggestions..

  • Why not configurable? It wouldn't necessarily have to be a huge effort. The config interface could range from a few drop downs to drag and drop.
There are a lot of different play styles. So to every Cmdr something else is more important.
I do like the current profile, though. Current ship and carrier cargo and materials could be added perhaps.

I actually like the current CMDR profile page, it's one of my favourite things about inara I probably wouldn't mind for the fleet section to be (re)moved or slimmed down, but especially the full ranks and medals sections in all of their glory are really neat - in a game where it's sometimes a bit difficult to identify goals, to me these are sometimes a real boost of motivation. I wouldn't hide them too much, being able to measure and show off our progress is something that the game doesn't do well itself and that inara is really good at imo.

    Hi Artie,

I just started to extensively use the Target Loadout/Loadout Comparison functionality. A real shame I haven't noticed that before since it's great.

Anyway, can you please add EDSY/Coriolis export buttons to Target Loadout page? That would void the need of saving target loadouts elsewhere and turn Inara into a "golden record" of planned ships.

I think it would be nice to see (and have the option to share) my 'war report' stats. I know there's the badges, but they can easily cap on one figure for a long time while waiting for another to meet the next rank. A small panel with the total of scouts, and each type of interceptor like the Thargoid war section would be good.
    16 May 2022, 9:41pm
Thanks for the feedback! It seems that any major changes aren't very desired...
The traffic/page performance certainly isn't a problem, I was rather thinking about simplifying it a bit. The customization is not in the cards at the moment, but it's certainly something I may revisit later on. Putting the Thargoid war stats somewhere into the profile is an interesting idea, I will think about that.

WayyuHi Artie, I am one of those nasty reloggers, can you fix my import date too? Thanks, and sorry for the trouble.

The loadout pasted into the target loadout can be copied back to the source tool. I am currently not re-parsing the loadout pasted there (I am only checking if it has a sufficient information for the loadout comparison), so placing buttons there can backfire in situations the loadout pasted is in the wrong format and so on (and I bet people will complain to me about it). But I guess that can probably add something there when the loadout format pass the check. Let's see...
