Commanders having Elite from Epic games store with http 400 error
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.
Please vote for the issue on the official bug tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21258

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.

Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

@Artie, maybe reducing the padding and margins of the text boxes will help get more text on the screen. The font size certainly isn't the problem.

Hi Artie!

I tried the website on mobile and got a few feedback comments:

Excellent font, content and button size overall for mobile (Firefox mobile, Nexus 6P)
I suggest to get rid of the lateral margin on mobile as you're losing quite a bit of space just to display background color.

---

Of note is a usability problem with the navigation:
- The 2nd level labels are active but look as if they are supposed to expand 3rd level navigation.
- The tiny [+] area behaves as expected
- However, when clicking the label, the user's intent is hijacked and it creates the following flow of events:
  1. Navigation closes on the user
  2. Page reloads
  3. User is forcibly redirected to the first item in the 3rd level navigation - likely not where the user wanted to go 3/4 of the time

I can see a lot of page reloads happening because this behaviour is unexpected. Consider making the whole 2nd level labels expand like the [+] portion.

---

Speaking of page load, there's a performance issue on mobile. It takes about 3 seconds for the menu to show up when a page load occurs.
I believe this could be because your javascript is loaded after the footer and content.

Yeah, this was exactly what I was adjusting right now. I also think the font size isn't the problem but the padding is.

Meowers, AvalonGG: Thanks for the screenshots. I made some adjustments, is that better for you now? Please check...
(I will take a look on those ship listings later on. And no worries, every feedback helps. )

Thank you very much for the feedback once again!
Just to check to be sure - is that excessively slow menu load happening on every page or just pages with (long) tables?

How do I get to the squadron organization?
04 Aug 2022, 10:06pm
The squadron organization was removed entirely. Except a few squadrons, nobody was using it and even a majority of those squadrons using it had it rather just as a gimmick and it haven't served the originally intended purpose (to help with the squadron organization, distribute the responsibilities, etc.). Similar it's for the mission participants - once again, nobody was using it, so it's gone. On the other hand, there is now possible to assign all the squadron ranks freely, without any limits, so every squadron can adjust their roster as they wish.

IF this is the right place for Feedback on the new beta layout, I hope it is.

I almost always view inara on a computer monitor, Which means that I don't really care about mobile access, but the old Desktop site worked fairly well for me on my phone as well.

The new layout looks Great, It feels modern is easy on the eyes. I miss the username in the corner, I would rather it say my name than have the generic "My profile" but that is not a very big deal.

The only reason why I want to switch back, is that every page requires much more scrolling than it used to. I use inara pretty constantly as I play. I use A HOTAS and it is really nice to be able to fit most of any particular entry on my screen without scrolling because then I can simply glance over to the other screen and see the data that I want without having to switch back to the mouse to change active window and then scroll.

There is so much padding in the new design, which makes it look very clean, but it makes every single page more difficult to fit on a single screen. Quite regularly I will mouse over to inara click on a link and then click back into elite while the page loads. This is more difficult in the new design because the new design requires mouse over events before the new links come up in the top bar, which means that I need to be in a more secure location in game before I can navigate the site. In the past I have regularly used inara to look up an interdicting commander to see how I should play out the interdiction. due to the cleanliness of the new design, I can't do this safely.

I think the new layout looks really nice, but the downgrade in usability while actively playing elite, as well as not being able to see my entire fleet on a single screen has got me wanting to switch back pretty immediately. I can zoom out to sort of mitigate the scrolling problem, but it decreases the text size to a level that is difficult to read.

if there was a way to lock in a section of the top bar, and a decrease in padding I would love to give it another go. I appreciate the constant hard work done on this site.

aljaz77maybe give us a option to make the text smaller. i feel like the old version was more dense and here there is just a bit to much "empty space" between content. also text is kinda big.

I agree.

NOTE: Some of the smarter people roaming the planet don't own cell phones or "tablets" (large cell phones) and never will. -

I for one barely tolerate the Windows OS.

Every page, different timings.
Minimum is about a second on commander and squadron pages.
Maximum is about 3-4 seconds on most top level pages like DATA.

Thank you for the feedback! Just to get some insight, as everybody's habits are different - what specific information do you want to see without scrolling? Which are you using frequently? Some things may be solved by simply rearranging stuff or so and it may be a low hanging fruit, so getting more information on that will certainly help.

Thanks for the clarification. This one may be a little bit problematic to solve, but I will take a look on that.

So I will try... excuse me, I am not a native English speaker. I hope pictures can speak more than 1000 Words.
Let`s go:

This is the old Layout. I can see my hole Anaconda Build. Her strength and her weaknesses with one view. I can shortly say I have to do some engeneering with 4 shield boosters.

lets try with new layout.

The Information is scattered on 7 Pages! not only that. I have to look more accurate to not miscount these shield boosters.
I have problems to get my own anaconda-build in my head with this viewing. So I would "fire and forget" ---> press the "export to coriolis-button"

Followed Text was written drunk and doesn't matter.... Sorry for that, i Marked it.
That made me a Head. And then I come to the conclusion: The new design is fine for a fast living social hub there information past 5 minutes ago are too old to post Design.

I thought about people that are able to post their results from years ago for a specific BGS-Problem (for example). We have one Tick a day and one greater one in a week.
They never would find it again, if marked posts are scattered out 7 times.
Yes, I have looked on my mobile. I tried PC-Version also. There is that problem not so much, but the same.

Scrolling up and down for minutes to find some specific is a downgrade.
More rows!

Artie
DanierosReally enjoying the look of the new version.

The only peeves I've had so far:

- System overview doesn't show which factions owns the main stations, so something that used to be a quick glance is now an extra click away.
- System overview also doesn't show the station economies. Perhaps some handy icons could be added for this information.

Thank you for the notes. Just extra questions, to get the rationale behind it - why you want to see those information? To support some specific faction, looking for trades in a specific economy or something else?

Faction ownership is useful to know right away which kind of work can be done for a faction - trading/exploration data as those require station ownership. Need to make sure it's the right type of faction over there in case it's a powerplay system Or that it's not a faction I'm hostile with.

The economy is also good to know what to expect from missions or trade routes. An extraction/refinery one for example won't be offering juicy mining missions as they tend to supply the stuff.

Hey Artie,

Are we supposed to see ship locations of CMDRs who do not share their position or flight logs under the new UI?

https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-list/197577/

this is visible even from GUEST users

EDIT: Ok , so the ship list which shows ships' location (exclusively to new UI) - is visible based on privacyfleet value.

tl;dr
You cannot share your ship builds without sharing their last docked location.

P.S. Switched mine to 0 for now , so the link above won't work.

Please, if you want a desktop layout on your phone, switch to desktop view. Mobile layout is about readability of text in a mobile context. You should be able to read it even while jogging. It's about one-handed navigation. Scrolling is acceptable; zooming is not, because it involves both hands.

Here's what the new layout looks like in desktop view:

Same as the old layout.

It definitely wasn't supposed to be shared. Fixed, thanks!

Thanks. Partially it's as Sakashiro said - the mobile layout should be readable without zooming. But, you have a point that the ship loadout may be more useful and provide more loadout information at once. This is quite tricky though, but I will think about possible solution.

Hi,

I really like the look of the new version. There's just a couple of points where I think the old version is better:
* In the Components by Type screen under Inventory, the old version shows the required and stored amounts. This is great for trading down within groups. In the new version, I can't tell if there are spare materials to trade down or if I only have just enough materials in the higher level. If I don't have spare, I'd rather trade across from another material group that has plenty.
* In the crafting list, it's great to see all of the recipe though it gets a bit cluttered if you have a big crafting list. It would be really good if you could expand and contract the full recipe.

Thanks
