Commanders having Elite from Epic games store with http 400 error
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.
Please vote for the issue on the official bug tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21258

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.

Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

Mac4 (EDIT: Oh, wait, what, where has that gone even? My ship, my crafting, and all that jazz: where is it? Pretty sure I could find it there when I looked before, now it all seems missing?)

Ah, so much of that is now under Data, eh. Hmm. Not sure I find it so intuitive. So where is my crafting? And what's the direct way to your profile page, in my case https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr/390621/ ? Right now seems I can only get there by clicking my name in forum.

Hmm. These are just some first observations, I'm sure there'll be others as we browse on.

Sure, glad to help. In my opinion it's imperative to have the sub-menu displayed somehow without hovering on desktop, you won't get away from that. Same with displaying current location on it, on top of breadcrumbs....

Thanks for the extra stuff. I will be digesting all the feedback overnight, so let's see about it.
Letting things settle a bit for the users will make no harm, too.

KurakilI prefer fewer menu layers personally. That is the only thing that stood out to me that I dislike. Oh and scaling seems a bit off for badges and whatnot. Everything else I can adjust to. Maybe there can be a "mobile" version and "desktop" version. Perhaps that is more work to implement than it seems. Also, in the Squadron background dropdown menu, Nebula is listed twice and it is the same image.

What exactly you mean by "fewer menu layers", please? You may be talking about the mobile navigation, I guess?

Thanks! It's all under "Commander" same as before, the content of "Data" hasn't changed, too.
The "My profile" (previously the name) doesn't lead to CMDR profile anymore, because I have future plans with that and it will stop to work previous way sooner or later anyway, so it's better to change it now.

Hi all.

Artie, I'm a fan of your work and consider myself lucky to have such a wonderful tool as Inara at my disposal. But... I'm not a fan of the new layout.

I'm all for improving things but the new layout seems to be a full on compromise on navigation and utility just so it works better on mobile devices. Pages and layouts are flat with no depth, and square. There are several layers of menus to navigate. Selections for station services, for example, are done from a drop down list instead of being a quick and easy checkmark next to each service. In a single glance, I can see all services and check the ones I need.

Inara, in its current form, it's a gorgeous website. The colors, the subtle contrasts between sections, the menus, even fonts and their sizes are great. A strip above and a navigator on the left both look great and are super functional.

Will the changes affect existing URL links referencing Inara? I'm a serial Inara linker lol.

I will continue to support your work no matter what but if you're looking for a vote, I prefer the current Inara 100:1 over the new one.

Regards,
JR

Hi. Nice look. I see, i can't open sub-tabs on tablet version, they appear when touch tab and after disappear.
Samsung galaxy tab, Samsung browrser, other browsers it's the same. I can't acces to squadron information and another things.

Gotta say, I'm really not diggin the new layout much. It feels like it was meant for use on a tablet or something, and I'm sure it works great for that but it feels like a LOT of extra scrolling and clicking on a desktop to get to the things I want. Also, there is just a ton of dead space on the sides of the screen, which is particularly frustrating since I have to scroll so much to see the bits crammed into the middle. I really don't want to sound like I'm dumping on the work, it just feels like a lot of "form over function" to me.

Would it be possible to keep the old version as an option, kind of like old.reddit.com does?

I switched to the "New Inara" but it's proving unpleasant. How do I opt-out?

Just a minor niggle, but the "nearest system" tab on the system pages has been renamed "expansion targets". This could be pretty misleading to new/inexperienced BGSers since it just lists nearest systems, and does not to take into account things that would prevent them from being an expansion target such as controlling faction presence or minor faction saturation.

Also, hiding all of the station services behind another click (or two...or THREE...yikes) is immensely frustrating. Can the little shortcut icon bar not be added to the station button on the system overview page? They don't need to be clickable, just...visible.

Ah, one last thing for today: I was exploring this option earlier and then didn't use it as it may be quite confusing. It's just a mockup image of the (more or less) old menu, just placed horizontally, but - yay or nay?

If you don't like it, you can switch back under "My profile".

Yes, the old version will certainly stay here for some time, but won't be further developed except the critical fixes or compatibility adjustments. As I mentioned earlier, I want to focus to bring the new version to something majority will like and to be honest - the feedback isn't so bad and strictly rejecting as I have expected.

Do you have some particular things you would like to reach easier, with less scrolling, etc.?

One thing that would make the new interface easier is if when I pull up a list such as when I am doing a nearest search or looking at a systems expansion targets, I would not have to expand each item on the list to see the necessary details. Makes a lot more tapping to get needed info.

Edit: maybe the most important data could be included on the result but the expand could be kept for any additional data that is less relevant to the list. In the example of expansion targets: being able to see at a glance what systems in the list have how many factions and if they are full might be something to include on the result. While the distance and other info may be fine hidden until the user expands that option. If any other users got better ideas on this or noticed I missed something please let me know!

Would using EDMC in conjunction with EDDI cause issues in regards to data sent to Inara?

I can't do a side-by-side A/B comparison to illustrate, but since I cannot see as much of the menu/sub-menu navigation by default without hovering over something, it feels like things are more difficult to find. Maybe in a month I won't think anything of it and will just require me getting accustomed to it. Personally, I can find everything with either version so it isn't a major problem, it just somehow feels... off. However, overall I like the Inara changes.

Really enjoy the new layout! One smol request tho, can the dates for the Galnet articles please be put back at the top? I copy/paste from here to the discord server I'm in, and having the dates first keeps things organized. Thank you!

Odd request here...

Any way to add a charting feature for commanders to plot their inara ranking over time or any of the other ranking lists over time? Would be great way to encourage others!
