Perhaps a bit mainstream, but Maia is pretty great.

Why, thank-you Kyla.

Kyla likes it for the... How to put it... Air Conditioning?

Am I to believe that is your preference for ship selection or is it the mileage you can get from them?

I'm not sure how to respond to that. I like the ship because of the range, and of course the design and style of it.

Basically, Kyla is a smuggler and likes the Diamondback Explorer because it runs cooler than most other ships, making it harder to pick up on sensors. (I'm sure there are other reasons but that's the common theme for those that prefer that line of work).

I was asking if that's what you do in the game or if you prefer to explore or if there was another reason behind your choice. That said, your preferred role on your licence kinda answers that question I guess

No, I'm an explorer. Like I said. I don't have enough credits for an Asp Explorer (fitted the way I want). Smuggling is something I have yet to do, and I hope I'm never forced to do it. (I say that because I've noticed that the game gives better rewards for smuggling) but knowing my luck I would get scanned. (actually what happens when you do get scanned while smuggling. Does the station destroy you?)

From what I remember, you get a nice fine and usually fail the mission.

That's cool. The Asp Explorer is also a fairly popular smugglers choice, but it's far better suited to Long Range exploration so good choice either way.

If you get scanned with illicit cargo, you simply get fined per ton of illegal goods you have. But it can get very, VERY hefty especially if all you're carrying is illegal goods. I've had fines in excess of 250k, but from what I've heard that's pennies in comparison to other peoples fines. If left unpaid though, those fines can turn into bounties, and if you're scanned at a station with one of those, then yeah, bye bye ship, hello rebuy screen.

Smuggling is a great way to get the money for a well-fitted AspX. Before I tried doing it, I read some hints and tips on how to do it successfully, and then I practiced a bit without illicit cargo. Random pirate and authority interdictions are a great opportunity to practice evasion, and you can speed/sneak into a station with nothing to hide just to get a "feel" for the tactics. Doing it with some illegal salvage, worth minimal credits, is also a great way to practice - you have the risk of a fine, but the fine will be proportional to the value of the cargo, so a ton of salvaged biowaste is a low risk way of working the kinks out of your technique.

Once I got comfortable with the how-to of smuggling, I was able to stack a dozen or so missions and in one run easily made in excess of 20 Million credits that got me into a well-appointed AspX - this one for exploration as I already had one that I kitted out for smuggling in the first place. That smuggling Asp got me into an Anaconda very, very quickly, and that has been the ship I've done most exploration in, even though it's rigged as a general purpose ship and thus has crap for jump range.

Smuggling can make good money, but how do you stack the missions?

Edit: Stacking missions that require the movement of cargo.

Any idea at what amount a fine converts to a bounty? I've got a total of 1.6M in fines in various places, and some of this is in the 250k range in single systems, but even there nobody seems to bother me. I would think that carrying a fine beyond a trivial amount should at least sour your reputation with the controlling faction but even that doesn't seem to be the case.

I don't think there's a set amount for a Fine to become a bounty straight away. But I do know that small ones (not sure how small), will just vanish after a few days. But large fines become a large bpounty after 7 days of not being paid off I believe.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, and if I told a lie I apologise

Besides, I was trying to see what Mhera liked about it, I just used your job preference as a conversation piece. I don't claim to speak on your behalf

Sintarahi new to the game bought it in the steam sale bought the bundle not sure what im doing lol cant play with a mouse so will be ordering a flight stick after xmas

Welcome: A HOTAS is really needed. Thrustmaster makes a good entry level one. Pnce you het experienced you may want to move up to the more expensive ones with more controls.

Also Voice Attack helps you from having to remember hot keys. The different profiles add alot of fun to the game also.

See you oit there.

Agreed! Splurge on the HOTAS. It makes the experience MUCH more enjoyable than a mere stick and keyboard. I use a Saitek X52 Pro, and a Razer programmable keypad and it's almost perfect. I feel silly talking to my computer, so I can't vouch for Voice Attack, but I hear great things about it as well.

hi thanks i bought voiceattack and midnight also got Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Joystick (when it turns up) blooming xmass post lol
