Welcome, and I hope the learning cliff doesn't drive you away from the game. There is a lot, but the experience and immersion is like nothing else I have experienced from a game. If your on the PC and fancy getting into the darker aspects of the game (piracy and what not) send me a invite. I'd also be happy to offer general advice, though I'm still learning too.
