SigEp_RaidersHello commanders!

I just got my pilots license utilizing the PS4.2.3 training module. It's been a bumpy ride, but being in the black is all that matters. I've started my career as a freelance bounty hunter, getting my feet wet with the souls of the (Mostly Harmless) wanted. I'm exploring my mercantile skills, but trying to navigate the trade routes has been harrowing to say the least. I'm looking forward to what this galaxy holds for me!

Keep your shields up and your sights true!

Welcome.

Hi Commanders,

Pleased to be here and back in the universe of Elite from playing in the 80's. Started out on the PS4 this week and had my hurdles but am getting used to the vastness of the game.
Looking forward to meeting some of you out there in the darkness!

Hello HeavyK, and welcome.

Don't worry, there are plenty more hurdles ahead!

Take care out there.

Hello commanders!

I started in Elite Dangerous with the launch of the game on PS4. I have started with merchandise and data delivery missions. I made some small expeditions out of the bubble. Afterwards I have tried a mission to kill a pirate and that is where I have exploded my first ship. I must practice a lot of combat.

I play in open and what interests me most is the BGS.

I look for PS4 people to make a group and form a smaller faction. Or join a group that has that idea.

My native language is Spanish. Sorry if I do not express some things well. Google help me xD

Welcome to Inara! You will find some great people here so don't be afraid to ask around, I'm sure you can find a nice collection of people to join you

Tip though: For starting out, take your time building up some credits before going after the pirates, especially the mission pirates, they can be tough on starter level ships. If you do want to give them a try though, consider equipping a torpedo hardpoint

Hello Jaruzu.

That's good advice from Giyari. If you are still in your Sidewinder you will find it difficult to win against most ships. Concentrate on trading for a while until you can afford a bigger, more powerful ship.

Take care out there

Hi - Cosmos24 here. I discovered Elite Dangerous about 2 years ago; was gone for 9 months, restarted and absolutely love this game. Currently working PvE for Alioth permit by running missions for the Alliance. Will eventually pledge.

It was not a Sidewinder, it was a Cobra. And I think it was because I was carrying the energy in the engines and nothing in the guns. (2-4-0). Normally I go like this and I forget to change it before I fight. Newbie stuff. Now I'm testing an Eagle and I'm getting better.

But thanks for the advice

Ahhhhh, yah that makes sense! I always keep mine at 2-3/4-2 by default. But that's just so I can go around a bit quicker.

The Eagle is a great little ship, amazing fun to fly, and it can hold its own surprisingly well against ships in the class above! Although I wouldn't choose to fight bigger ships in an eagle, well not an unengineered eagle anyway

You're welcome. Pip management is very important in combat. You can often find that you're changing pips constantly, depending on the situation.

Good luck!

This!

Your pips should never be in a fixed position in combat - when in pursuit or maneuvering, full ENG; when under fire, full SYS; when attacking, full WEP.

Flying shieldless with a hull-tank has obvious drawbacks, but it also has advantages, one of which is easier pip-management - I find that I can leave it at 0-4-2 most of the time.

On the inverse of this, turrets may put out less damage than their counterparts (and their aim is sometimes questionable) but if used properly they allow me to focus more on my systems and weapons, since I don't have to outmaneuver my target.
