Tordenskjold62Hi All.

New to thise type af game.

If i join the Empire ore Allaince, will i the be an Enemy of Inara ???

Welcome, and I don't think so.

Empire, Federation, Alliance only matter for Powerplay reasons. And perhaps Lore wise a little bit, if you're into Roleplaying.

In game itself it makes absolute zero difference for yourself. As CMDR you have to start to work your way up in the Ranks of both Empire and Federation if you want to attain certain unlockable ships that each side sells.

Also you need to build your Reputation with the various Minor factions (MF) inside each System. The higher your standing with them, the better the missions you'll be getting and the higher the payout is.

Though there are many types of missions who aren't worth bothering with, but that knowledge will come in time, either by getting told or finding out yourself.

Welcome to Elite o7

Hello, and welcome to Inara.

Forgive me if you are already aware of what I'm about to describe, but perhaps a further brief explanation may help.

The Inara website is a third party tool, developed and maintained by its creator, Artie. Its purpose to to serve as a resource for all players of Elite Dangerous, and is filled with a wealth of useful features. Take some time to explore the site and, if you're not sure about something, just ask.

Recently Inara (the website and associated player community) was successful in establishing a minor faction ingame. This faction, Inara Nexus, has its headquarters in the Inara system. Inara Nexus (IN for short) aims to provide a safe haven for pilots of all types and professions. No one is automatically an enemy of Inara or Inara Nexus. You can find out more about the faction in the Inara Nexus forum on this site.

I hope this helps. Take care out there.

Hi all

Quick hi and introduction. One of the 1st games I played was Elite on the BBC-B Micro many years ago and am now playing again on the PS4 version. Really enjoying the game, am in a small wing with my 2 sons working for the Order of Picoria. I love the fact that your actions as a group can influence the BGs so much and you can see the changes on a daily basis.

Mostly flying my Asp Explorer at the moment whilst I gear up a Vulture for when the election / civil war scenario's start to come in in the system. Will then see how I hold up in CZs

Do not think there is much of a background to the faction in game, the Picoria Defence Party currently hold all the stations and have expanded into a nearby system and holding election in another which makes it interesting.

Not sure if I would get into RP or if I would start to create a story line for the faction or not at this time just enjoying the game.

Good to meet you all and Fly safe, have fun!

Hello FlippingYoda, and welcome to Inara.

You've probably found yourself involved in some combat already, but if you're looking at preparing for CZs then I'd recommend you look for a Resource Extraction Site first. Pick one of the ordinary ones in a medium security system, and you'll be able to deal with targets more or less at your leisure. There are often system security patrols on hand, so stay close to them. Oh, and don't take any cargo with you into a RES, or you'll be scanned and attacked.

Apologies if you know all this already!

Take care out there.

Hi.

I just joined Winters Wolves yesterday and so far I'm having a blast thanks to Crosby's guidance in getting to 41 Lambda Hydrae from the other side of the galaxy. I'm a new player to Elite Dangerous, having started playing about 2-3 days ago on the PS4. Now that I've arrived here in Lambda, I'm currently looking at options to make some credits and get started on buying some ships for different roles/jobs. I wish to one day ferry people across the galaxy on the most luxurious passenger liner known to man.

I'm in Australia and can play pretty much whenever. Timezone: GMT+10.

Welcome ChakramPrincess.

I recommend the Dolphin. It's a fine little ship, and the snobs love riding in it when I'm ferrying around other "livestock" right under their feet.

Hi Jemine,
I took your advice and was doing OK until I accidentally hit one of the internal security patrols (oops). I did not last long after that haha. Tried to boost out but no luck, good experience though, I need to learn a few more tactics in battle

Thanks for the advice

Kind regards

Situational awareness is key - even more so in a CZ furball!

Watch your scanner and try to be aware of what ships are around you and where they are in relation to you. You can hear their engines and weapons if they are close. Fire in short, controlled bursts - don't hold the trigger down unless you are certain you have a clear line to the target without anything else around you.

Good luck!

You're very welcome. Marra has given some excellent extra advice. If you're using Flight Assist Off (and you really ought to practice this if you haven't used it yet) then watch out for the rocks. It's easy to drift into one and cause yourself damage.

And if you're going to crash, pip your shields to maximum!
