My 1st space ship to fly was in Space Invaders. Kids these days have no clue how lucky they are

You can still find that ship in game, it's called the Clipper

Hello everyone, and well done on creating such an amazing community site! I love it!

So who am I?

(Fictional)
My name is Selezen Lake. I was born on Cullen in the Morten-Marte system and currently work as a field investigator for the Tionisla Historical Society. I'm currently on sabbatical, taking some personal time to explore the galaxy and look into some personal projects. My preferred ship is the Diamondback Explorer but I do have a soft spot for the Asp Explorer and Python.

(Real Life)
My name's Dave Hughes, most people online know me as "Selezen". I've been a huge Elite fan since 1985, and created a bog load of online content on forums and my own web space over the years, including some content for the Oolite fan-game and some fan fiction and timelines on my own website. My biggest claim to fame in the community is being a friend of Drew Wagar, and my second biggest claim to fame is writing the Elite Encounters RPG under license, which was released in PDF form last month!

Hope to talk to you guys more soon!

All the best.

Hello Selezen, and welcome to Inara.

I'd encourage you to add your backstory to your profile page, and maybe expand on it a little. It's always good to have it there as a reference, not only for yourself but for others, too.

Take care out there.

I don't think I ever introduced myself. I am Ryan aka Ryaustal, and I started playing a little over a month ago. I currently have an aspx that I fly for mainly for building rep and rank while doing passenger missions or transport. I also have a Vulture that I would like to use for bounty hunting, I just unlocked my first engineer since she is a power hungry ship. And just this week I picked up a Python and turned her into a miner, I really cannot afford to make her anything else atm. I joined up with a wing and am learning from them what I can however, they are based in Germany whereas I am on the east coast of the US. So that means I pretty much fly solo haha.

I am amazed at the shear size of this game, I feel that it is missing some things that could make it really great like more ships for starters, and perhaps more diversity with engineered components. What I mean by these two is nearly everyone has the same ship with the same mods but I also have not been around long so maybe its just me and what I see. I am also surprised there is not some sort of player run/built economy.

Well, I was going to say something else but I forgot what it was lol.

Hi!

So, I heard about this site from a close friend who uses it occasionaly. I've been playing on and off for a couple of years, enjoying it all the time. But he's of the opinion that it's more engaging if you join a community? So, here I am, I guess... I've kinda RP'd in game, but I guess it doesn't count if you keep shifting your own goalposts. Maybe writing the stuff out will keep me grounded on a path? I dunno.

So I joined Inara. He reckons it's one of the better communities out there so I decided to dive in, although I imagine every community has its trolls, right?

Enough about that. My CMDR is called Illeana (Ill-ee-ah-na) Grimm-Turner, which is probably quite obvious. Nicknamed GT by friends and some family, she was born and raised planetside, although I never settled on a specific location. Is that overly important? I'm keen to write some stories of my own, maybe join people in the bars. Is there a code or rules to joining in. Like do I have to go through some sort of appproval process? Are there standards to how good my writing needs to be?

Although I enjoy doing it, I'm not convinced my writing is up to par really. But I welcome constructive criticism. Emphasis on constructive of course.

Anways, nice to see you (to see you....

Welcome! We only have a couple trolls, but they're fairly obvious. I don't think they're recruiting now (thankfully). Hop on the Discord, quite a few of the better authors hang out there (I'm not one of them).
