I backed FD in the alpha and have been a fan of ED ever since it came out on ZX Spectrum (back in the day) and have played all versions so I have a wee bit of piloting skills. If your ever in Mobius say hi
Ohhh, I do want to wish you all well, fly safe and may your skies be free from pirates/griefers "arrrrrrrr" (unless your a bounty hunter).

VdiffHi I'm Cmdr Vdiff, I'm a female independent pilot and have no fixed role, I'm a kind of what pays well at the time gets my attention kind of pilot. I play now all the time in Mobius as I was fed up of being griefed at starports buy noobs in sidewinders crashing into my ships to get me destroyed. So I'm afraid you won't see me in open play unless that kind of shenanigans ceases anytime soon, I highly doubt it.

Welcome CMDR!
Also played Elite on the old ZX, others played the various iterations on and off. Only really got back into Elite a few months ago with Elite Dangerous. I also generally spend time in Mobius (or solo if they run out of landing pads), you are welcome to add DeloRean R. Platus (as is anyone else).

Hi and welcome CMDR Vdiff!
It's unfortunate that you've had some negative experiences in Open play. These are marginal events that only really occur around player hotspots; the rest of the populated space is reasonably quiet and most commanders are usually pleased to see someone else.
pirates/griefers
Please appreciate that these are not the same thing. Pirates play a legitimate role in the game and many of us want to add some excitement and danger to your game without causing the emotional distress a greifer is after. If being held up for a small amount of cargo is distressing to you, then by all means choose your play-mode wisely!

on the issue of Open Play....if you know how to counter or evade interdiction, it just add salt& pepper to the game...i fly almost always in open with a light shielded, unarmed Conda, and have had worse experience due to Thargoids
