Hi all, I'm a PvE player on PS4 with about 4 months of ED time. I'm old enough to remember playing the original 1983 game, though. I'm still feeling my way into the game in many ways, and the next step will be Powerplay. I'll probably be pledging Denton Patreaus and would appreciate any tips on working for the Empire centicred.

Hello. I've played Elite Dangerous for about 2 years off and on because I could never stick with it. For once I think I'm actually gonna stuck with it. Im not much of a fighter(mainly because idk what I'm doing with it yet) but I am pretty decent with everything else. It'd be nice to have some people on xbox to talk to/ play with so if you want add me my gamertag on xbox live is- xSinlos -ps I also want to start a player group from scratch so if you're interested everything above still applies.

Happy DazeHi all,

A gaming friend at work introduced me to Elite Dangerous. I researched it and decided to give it a try! I used to really enjoy Descent back in the day, with a Thrustmaster joystick. I kept breaking hats back then, luckily Thrustmaster was in Hillsboro OR back then and I could just drive over and get a new hat No longer since they got bought out!

I use two Thrustmaster T.16000 FCS joysticks. I love it! I also I found a really cool wing, G.O.M. Collective, and being an old fart I am enjoying the group. I've played Solo since I started, about 3 weeks? ago. I started with Bounty Hunting in High RES and had a blast, made a few bucks to buy a Viper MKIII, and decked it out for hunting. I got a DBX for exploring / trading, and just got a Dolphin for light passenger work last night with help by being added to a wing that had already finished the work! Now that's how Tom Sawyer whitewashes a fence!

I'm a fan of Heinlein, and his book "Time enough for love", thus the handle Happy Daze. My Diamondback is Dorable, the MKIII is Lazuli, and I have yet to name the other ships yet.

@Ratceaser, if you are a Grumpy Old Man, or can put up with a bunch of GOM feel free to check out the G.O.M. Collective

I'll venture into Open Play after I get a little more confidence.
I got VoiceAttack and am practicing sub-targeting & getting familiar with it. I think it rocks!

This is a great game, the people I've meet are very cool, and the things to do are endless!

Welcome aboard, Happy Daze! I've found that Voice Attack and HCS Voicepacks are a must flying in VR. Combination of the Thrustmaster HOTAS X, Voice Attack and WMR has completely changed my experience.

Which VR do you use? Is it the one you prefer? IE: If money was no object, would you keep the one you have?

Mostly on solo until recently have managed to get an anaconda and a few hundred mil, as well as Admiral rank in federation. I did this on the Ceos to solthis data and cargo runs. Looking to rank up in empire now so is there a similar sort of short range run for ranking up in empire? My knowledge of the game is limited and im learning the basics as I go from game play and forums such as this. Im also looking to engineer my conda but a bit clueless on this side of things. Any help appreciated.

Hiya and welcome to Inara

If your knowledge is as limited as you suggest, personally I think you should sell the Anaconda and buy something more appropriate to your experience level.

Master the small and medium ships before you make the huge investments of time and money to fully upgrade and engineer a large ship - otherwise you risk disappointment when the inevitable comes and you're faced with a hefty rebuy!

Hi, I did my Empire ranks at HIP 8444 Bliss Base, they mostly all wanted to give me missions to one nearby station, which i cannot remember the name of! Was fairly recent so should still be an option. Just take Data Missions, stack em up, and if you have the cassh do the donations for 375000 or less. Happy Empire ranking CMDR o7

Thanks Marra, when I say my knowledge is limited im referring to the engineering side of this as well as factions ect. I have a good idea of general gameplay, ship fighting, trading ect. But that is all due to just grinding for cash and ranks and not bothering with anything else. Now I have a good ship and plenty of cash for the inevitable rebuys and upgrades, im looking to expand my knowledge of engineering and factions rather than just being focused on one aspect of the game. I will look into inara discord as you suggested. :-)
