Inara is probably best described as a Community Resource - it's got vital game information such as market data, engineering blueprints and ships & modules, your own profile for you to track your progress, a community of thousands of players and player groups, and forums for game discussion and roleplaying.

My name is Jared (27 years old), and obviously I am new here(I am hoping introductions is the correct section to post this in). Nice to meet you all. I Joined elite dangerous a week ago, and have enjoyed the learning curve since. Started out with mostly data trading as its low risk, got myself a viper mk3 and approx 2mil cr in bank. Looking to upgrade to another ship when I reach around 4 mil. Recently started doing bounty hunting work to improve my targeting and overall reflexes, I occasionally do cargo missions when they line up with bounty destinations and have large payoffs. I am here to get to know the community as the game feels rather lonely.
I have not yet figured out anything about engineering or the more in depth items, but am proficient at most items that fall within the first layer of the onion that represents ED. I have yet to do exploration or run into the pesky thargoids.
I am currently near the Eravate system and LHS 3447.

Don't worry about the bits you haven't yet done. It's a big game, with plenty of stuff to explore. Learn as you go along, and enjoy the ride!
