I'm a newbie only been playing for 2 weeks. Looking for a group to tag along with and progress into this game further. I'm in UK and on PS4.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard steveo, I'm in the UK and on ps4 as well, I've not ventured into open play yet but my best advice is to grind like crazy until you can afford to get yourself a decent ship and outfit it the way that best suits your playstyle.

No worries mate, if you fancy a private group at some point fire me a request my ps-id is SCN_2, I'm currently just hauling cargo around. Not the most exciting thing ever but it's a relatively easy way to scrap the cash together to get myself an anaconda and go out to do something more interesting.

Hi everyone, I'm Conor, nice to be here on Inara.

I'm in Ireland, and I used to play Elite II back in the early 90s. My brothers and I were hooked. Now I'm getting stuck into ED, and its awesome. I'm on PC, looking to enjoy the full scope of the game and interact with other folks, here and in the game.

Welcome aboard Conor, I used to love Frontier: Elite 2 on my Amiga back in the day it's definitely my favourite out of the series tho tbh Dangerous is fast becoming a firm favourite and the community here is fantastic.

Hi All,

Since I am using services here I find appropriate to introduce myself.

I played Elite on C64, Amiga, moved to Elite Plus and Frontier (still Amiga) followed by PC version and Elite Frontier Encounter many years ago.

Got ED about 3 years ago, but did not play it much (probably thanks to 2.3K games on steam list ) until last few days after reading about updates and watched couple of videos on youtube.

Setup EDDiscovery with INARA and EDSM, tried bit of exploring for riches (just last night) and have setup Keelback for mining. I always play in solo, but I might join some efforts I see here.

Newbie questions, why while collecting, I lose so many limpets? It seems that they are either quite suicidal or I am doing something wrong. Is there a way to prevent it?

yep DONT target whatever it is you're looking to pick up, whether it be materials, mining fragments or canisters of cargo, do NOT target anything. This fools the silly limpets into thinking you want everything not on your ignore list and whoosh about like little bees picking up the lot. If you target something the silly limpets think "Oh! Master wants just that one." they go get it then terminate after a job well done.

Try it and put a credit in my retirement fund for every limpet you save....

HI

I have another newbie question... I was sitting on a launch pad at a station , went to check the galaxy map to plan my next trip, then I got a message saying my ship had been destroyed because "a crime against Epsilon Scorpii had been detected on my ship", and I was sent off to some far flung orbiting prison station.  But the thing is, I have only ever carried out legal missions, and those have almost all been data courier jobs, and my reputation with Epsilon Scorpii factions is cordial. I've also always completed missions on time (I like to get the bonus for early deliveries).

Can anyone tell me what might have happened?  Is there some way I can get the details as to exactly what I was supposed to have done?

Probably best to ask in Gereral/game talk in the future, fyi. In this case it's likely you undocked and sat on the pad too long. Loitering is punishable by death.
