Welcome to the new CMDR's.

SitasOltremori Quick question for those that do play in Open sessions, what, if any, are there differences? (Other than possible PvP, which I have to admit I am not big on).

Solo is purely that, the same galaxy but no other real players.

Open is the same galaxy, but means you may encounter other CMDR's. Not all of them are friendly. You should try get confident 'knowing the drill' if you are interdicted / attacked, depending on what you're doing (you may be the attacker, who knows? ) - Plenty around here will offer advice on this.

Private Group offers a good blend of the two modes of Solo and Open, the same galaxy as everyone else but with controlled players within the group, typically like-minded CMDR's. This is usually a safer play for new starters as there is much less chance of you being interdicted.

Another thing about playing in "Open" is you can only pledge to a Power and gain the power play equipment in open

Sen ZaurakI often play in a private group as it is very annoying running into some guy running cheat progs that just want to ruin your day.

I've been playing in Open for over 4 years and I've never encountered anyone using cheat programs.

They do exist, but as a tiny minority and certainly not a common occurrence.

The only cheating I've been witness to is Combat Logging (that's when someone terminates their connection to the game to avoid losing their precious pixels).

I've managed to unlock Professor Palin and level up my thrusters to level 4 but can't seem to go any higher. It keeps saying I need to increase my reputation but it seems the only way to do this is to level up with him, which I've already done. So what gives?

Did you get your thruster upgrade elsewhere? Then throw it away (aawww...) and start with Palin again. (Very likely)
Otherwise, leaving the station and re entering might solve the issue. (Less likely)

You could always buy a second Thruster module, temporarily store your current module, engineer the second, then store it at Palins outfitters. You could transfer it at your leisure for use in another ship in your fleet. That way the materials are not consumed in vain 07

Engineering modules is what increases your rep, so you should reach grade 5 access that way

Hi There,

great to see an Aussie clan for this game. I've just started, so I'm a complete noob, but I'd really like to partner up with someone who could perhaps show me the ropes. At this stage I like to ferry passengers and do trade missions.

thanks

Is there a specific squad you are looking for or are you trying to find one that looks like a good fit?
