Ok thank you Phelbore

Game keeps running, even if you in system or galaxy map. For example, if you are flying, your ship is still in motion while you open maps. When taking off, you have 5 minutes to exit station, but if you take off, you can't stay on docking pad too long, as phelbore has sad.

I went to help my kid today, thinking game is in menu - to find out I traveled over 300K ls... it was easier to jump to closer system and jump back then try to fly back where I was headed to.

Newbie questions, why while collecting, I lose so many limpets? It seems that they are either quite suicidal or I am doing something wrong. Is there a way to prevent it?

I would love to know an answer to this.

The Presenceyep DONT target whatever it is you're looking to pick up, whether it be materials, mining fragments or canisters of cargo, do NOT target anything. This fools the silly limpets into thinking you want everything not on your ignore list and whoosh about like little bees picking up the lot. If you target something the silly limpets think "Oh! Master wants just that one." they go get it then terminate after a job well done.

Try it and put a credit in my retirement fund for every limpet you save....

I appreciate this but the little dumba#ses still run head long into asteroids while void opal mining. Guess their just like a neglected emo kid.

I've even tried parking outside of the destroyed asteroid thinking to myself "surely they won't hit any thing now" as soon as I say this in my head I hear "collector limpet expired". "Motherf#cking son of a b#tch!!!!!"

Yup, they were definitely at the back of the queue when brains were handed out so you need to manoeuvre your ship to ‘line of sight’ with the li’l critters or they try to bore through rocks. Also, when materials are close to rocks, they can collide trying to scoop up the fragment so your positioning can help there too. 07

As Silver Taffer says, positioning is key if you are mining. I always mine at the bottom of an asteroid if just going Old Skool and using lasers so the fragments spin down and away from the rock. If core mining, it's harder to keep every limpet alive. If you already have active collectors after the seismic charges have gone off then wait a little while until the exploded rock chunks have finished moving apart. This will give the limpets maximum room to manoeuvre. Aim to travel past the chunks so the wee collectors have a clear path to you with the rock chunks. Still no guarantees you won't lose some but this helps a lot. Also sometimes the chunks are bugged and disappear INSIDE part of an asteroid. This sucks and the only solution is to provide a nearer target else all limpets will destroy themselves impacting. One final thing is that although it seems counter intuitive, shooting off the surface deposits with the abrasion blaster from as far away as you can helps the limpets survive as they have more time to plan a safer route for collection whilst you chill in the middle of a shattered roid.

Most limpets were killed by faster rotating asteroids. Sometimes it is hard to find a proper place for your ship to get your limpets work without getting damaged. So keep in mind you lose a bunch of limpets for sure and buy some more limpets before. In addition you can strengthen their hull with help from engineers like Marsha Hicks, Ram Tah, The Sarge and Tiana Fortune. Get it a go and mining is more comfortable. I wish you always full cargo, commander.

Most of my limpets got killed when delivering, so most likely The Presence's solution will work for me, as I was targeting floating minerals.

Sorry for bit off topic, hopefully admin can move it to general / game talk.

EDIT: And to confirm, it was my targeting that made them retire earlier. 2 mining runs tonight, both had few limpets to jetison to make room for ore. Thank you!!!

Hello, I am looking for a guild to call home. However, I don't want to spend my time or be forced to be on Discord. I would like a guild that's on most of the time on PS4. I am trying to get to the current game content, but I am new to the game. I know how to fly and shoot, well, at least, fly enough to not crash. I am wanting to go for bounty hunting as that is where I feel like the money is. I play on the PS4 and am looking to maybe be in a wing to do missions, and other sorts together as a group. I'm more of a PVE than a PVP type person.

Welcome. I play solo, so I can't help you with 'guild', good luck with that.

As for money, usually path is marking large ships in high extraction zone, collect around 500K, get hauler and equip it for exploring, explore enough to get around 10 mil with use of road to riches and once done, setup ASP Explorer for core mining. Usually first void opal expedition and you will have enough to upgrade ship and have some left. With my current asp explorer I make around 30 mil per hour, and that is not even close how much more serious folks make doing exactly the same. There are some good youtube videos that you can follow that can help you with this, including how to prepare ship and what to take for each of this steps.

Exploring should also get  you access to first and kind a important engineer.

I had couple of mil when I restarted game 8 days ago, now over half billion cash. Should get Elite for trading by end of the week.

Hey Scrapanator -

Check out the Squadron Promotions thread here and on the Discord. Lots of groups to choose from that are all looking for new people. Get out there and you'll find a match!

Bought myself PS4 for Christmas a year ago for the sole purpose of playing MLB The Show. "Accidentally" found out about Elite Dangerous about 8 months ago, bought it 6 months ago, and rarely play the Show at all anymore. One rank from Elite in Exploration and Trade. Welcome!

I play on PC, but have also an account on PS4 (and will soon have one for XBox One), just for comparison.

Game plays well on gamepad, but HOTAS like Saitek X52 that I use makes completely different experience with this game, as well ability to use EDDiscover, EDEngieers and most important - Voice Attack. I don't even try to fly without my assistant...  :D

SuperFrogXWelcome!

Welcome to Inara cmdr SuperFrogX! That said, I think I'll introduce myself, too, even though I've been using the site for a while now - 75mil + credits, a sucker for astrophysics and cognitive science (studying the latter at uni), an avid fan of the Revelation Space series by Alastair Reynolds, as well as an aspiring creator. My latest (and first ever) logbook is the beginning in a series of text/video logbooks mixing game events with OC, characters and plot.
