Might they be noticing that it's close/form-fitting, perhaps?

With the Order of Enblackenment.
Not been flying for too long, only a few weeks and just about to start engineering.
Looking forward to getting in deeper.
See you around the galaxy........

That's an interesting beard. Welcome.
You should look for the station that sells leathery eggs.

My name is Avelina. I'm not new to Elite but I'm new to INARA.
I had a large break and decided to come back with a fresh save!
My goal is to have the fastest combat-capable Imperial Courier in the galaxy. I'm currently fighting against Thargoids to gain combat ranks to unlock more engineers.
See you all in deep space.
End transmission.

My name is Fractured and I have been a bit of a lurker on Inara for a couple of months and felt like today is the day I introduce myself.
I have around 600 hours of space time according to Steam and have been completely taken in by the galaxy, it took me the longest time to get comfortable as a CMDR, this is not to say I am ready for open play or do any pvp play but at least I can now set goals and achieve them.
I love the lore and recently watched the lore series from CMDR Drew Wager which is an amazing introduction to the world of ED and one which I would highly recommend for immersion purposes.
Anyway, currently enjoying the PP aspect (still very confused as to how this actually works but enjoying the experience none the less) - aligned to Felicia Winters and a firm Federation member.
When I develop the skills and courage to play open I hope to see your all in the black.
Live dangerous and prosper
Fracture out

ED takes a long while to get into for many people. INARA is a great help with that.
Open is great once you learn a few rules of thumb. You can always drop back into solo if you unsteady, but I recommend flying open.. Even if ya do see a rebuy screen now and then.

Creamy Goodness IIIHey Fractured.

Mind sharing one or two of those thumb rules. I have flown open on about 5 occasions where I have been squashed 3 times already with a 4th nearly occurring @ Farseer Inc but I managed to flee leaving my fighter behind
I have happily been flying open for about 6 hours today without incident....@ least I now have engineered thruster's so doing the highland "tuck-tail" and run method should be easier....

If the squadron you want to join is more worried about your rank than your personality, they ain't the squadron for you. Enjoy climbing those ranks and good luck finding some good guys and girls to fly with.
Oh Fractured
The main rule of thumb is don't fly in open in Decait, (or any of the popular engineer locations really) until you've learned to escape an ambush. Unfortunately, most people that will jump you won't do so unless they think they have a good chance of popping ya ship in a very few shots.
It sounds bad, but it adds an element of tension and fun that's completely missing in solo play. You'll remember that escape far more then most of your visits won't you
There are a few places to keep on your watch list. Go to the galaxy tap on INARA and you'll see a Security report on the right-hand side that gives you a good idea on the systems where you need to be on guard.. .. or in solo if you just don't want to worry about it.
Trust me, lost of people will give you good and conflicting advice about playing in Open

I'm a man of stealth and haste
I've been around for a long, long year

I was 'round in 84 when Elite was a C64 wireframe

Washed their hands and sealed their fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
