I've been playing for a while now, got about 80 hours on the game on and off, and I'm just starting to get interested in the community as a whole, I'm still pretty much a noob, doing petty missions, some trading and such, I'm looking foward to becoming a better pilot and make some friends for some drinking on the galatic bar of course.
Godspeed, you magnificent spacemen

The very first thing you have to do is to get the day up to 30 hours. You need to sleep about 6 h and the left 24 h are for funtime playing ED. (just kidding)
Be sure to be at least 1m/s faster than your opponent to survive your adventure.
Good luck Commander.

Oh I'll certainly do my best, sir!
Also, sleep? What for? Is that a rare commodity? Is it allowed in the Empire? <u<

Venturdog here. I've been flying around the galaxy since last Dec but still can't find my way home. I've also lost my cat along the way.
But the game is GREAT! I always wanted to be an intra-galactic truck driver. The truck stops in the Milky Way are to DIE for!

Talk about a cloud having a silver lining, I remembered back in the day with my BBC micro and enjoying Elite so much...
A few clicks and a very reasonable fee later, there I was..... In the black.
WOW, how the the Frontier team has done us proud! I remember the wire frame graphics and the pew-pew sound effects with fondness as I am still genuinely amazed how D.Braben & I.Bell managed to squeeze a 3D universe onto in 5n quarter inch HD floppy disk! (Magic and 6502 assembler.) :-)
I started in solo to find my feet before stepping out. Loving every moment of it.
'Been exploring, doing data runs, bounty hunting and now learning about mining.
Love it. Great to find a large, welcoming, well informed, good natured community and all these helpful apps and mentors.
Cheers, peeps.
p.s. I'm recovering well from nearly cutting my left hand off with an angle grinder.
(1st serious accident in 30yrs of construction work)
Our NHS is the best manifestation of mans humanity to man that I know of.
I received superb treatment from the plastic surgeons, theatre staff and nurses and auxilliaries.
Food was fine too. I feel so lucky and so strongly that we should defend our progress and defy the neo-cons
Oooops! I'll get off this high horse right now!
Cheers peeps.

Good to see you are okay and had getting fun remembering the old Elite days. ED now is much more complex and I always forget about the whole world around me. Maybe you will find friends on Inara and ingame.
All the best and nice to have you with us Commander.

Welcome Cmdr Bhoona 07.
I, too, go back to the days of wireframes, only in my case on a Commodore 64. The Squadron I am in was started as a result of an interchange on this very string between old ‘uns from that era

Welcome Cmdr. Sorry to hear about your misfortune and glad to hear you're making good recovery.
ED has indeed come long way since the ground breaking game of the 80s. You'll find that INARA is a great tool to use regardless of your platform of choice.
Enjoy your time in the Black

o7 commander, ouch and glad your hand is healing up, I echo your sentiments about our NHS
Glad you enjoy the game - I too have fond memories of Elite on the BBC and C64, it's a marvellous game and a complete universe.
See you in the void

C64 is where it was at, I played it right up to Elite status and was amazed to watch the crowdsourcing for ED, although I didn't buy it until the recent Steam sale last year.
Haven't looked back, this game is everything I could have wished for

Greetings Commanders, I have never been in a community like this before you all have such a great site.
I've found INARA to be a very useful tool in regards to the sharing of information.
So thank you > Artie < o7 > for the site, it is a big help to someone that has just started to playing the game 3 weeks ago
As "newbie" I'm only in solo play for now until I build up sufficient skill, knowledge, wealth reserves and rank to advance before playing in the company of others.
You are welcome to add me as a friend
