contemplating to own a HOTAS... but will burn a hole in my wallet....

A few things I have noticed for other new commanders:
Blasting thigs are usually not the solution to missions that may be hard to figure out. This is a different kind of game - it is helpful to know about how the ships engineering/cockpit works.
I have to play in solo as the xbox wants me to pay "live for me to play in open. So I have not flown in open. I am hoping to get a gaming computer and transferring my account.
I also have hired help and even thought she is not on my current missions she is taking her cut ... I think she is stealing the company.
I have had some combat adventures that ended up in a crack in my cockpit but did not know how to fix the problem with missing O2. I had a running ship but no way to correct the problem. Is there access to a mask helmet or something... I was comical looking around the ship for a control that would fix it. meanwhile I got shot up and had to be rescued.
I love the super cruise and the docking computer but it is very helpful in learning how to land and piloting your ship(s) manually incase of.....
I am not sure about the role play yet on this website. Do I need to work on a character? I like to keep it simple here but would love to connect with others even though I am on the xbox in solo.
