Hi thought I drop in and introduce myself, I'm a newbie to ED...but I did play Privateer ( PC Based ) back in the 90's which is very similar but compare to ED very crude graphics :-) really enjoying the vastness of ED....thank god for the Youtube tutorials or I'd still be flying around in a sidewinder. Be well

Welcome to Inara! This is without a doubt the most useful third party website related to ED. As far as YouTube videos go, if you haven't seen them already, I'd recommend Hawkes Gaming. Some of his videos are a bit out of date now but some are still good. His channel is how I made my fortune in ED.

Shredderftl9547Hello all been playing for 6 months really like bounty hunting and getting $$$ for better ships
I'm on late at night but could use a experienced wingman

Welcome Commander.

Brounty Hunting is a great gig. Running Pirate kill missions in a wing is very profitable. If you like to wing up for some PVE with other like minded hunters, I can suggest joining Mobius.

Huge community and great bunch of guys and gals.

Hello ED Brothers and Sisters...

I left ED some years ago for RL stuff (deployment) and never had the time to get back in. WOW has a lot changed... When I left the Diamondback's had just been introduced and everyone was flying Conda's all over the place (one of the reasons I left as I'm a small ship pilot myself, and honestly there was nothing else to spend my money on). Now there's Engineers, Kraits, Wingmen, Ship Hangars, etc..., HELL landing on planets!!! So, I'm not sure where to start.

I've decided to restart my character (letting go of $849M credits and 9 straight A-ships was tough), and I've decided to embrace the small ship purest life (maybe a single Python). My question here, is that even possible anymore in ED?

Thank You in Advance for your comments,

Yes. The Python's versatility is best in size class. You can pretty much make it work for any role you'd want it for. It won't be the best choice for most of them, but it will be above average in enough that you won't regret it. The only thing it is really limited by is that it doesn't get a fighter, but meh. If you like the Python, also consider the Krait Mk. II, Alliance Chieftain, or Krait Phantom.

I'd strongly recommend unlocking the Guardian FSD booster first and ASAP (check Discords for events that will take you there, the Fleet Carrier Owner's Discord is a good place for this), then do the Engineering unlock grind.

Welcome back cmdr o7

The Python is a good mid-size ship for mining and passenger missions.

The Python can be used for cargo missions, I prefer the Type 7 Transporter. The Type 10 Transporter is the brick for trading.

The Python can explore, but for greater jump range and maneouvreability I use the Krait Phantom, much better than the conda slug even though the Conda and Diamondback Explorer have the extra jump range. DBX (Diamond Back Explorer) is good as a cheap taxi with a jump range just greater than the Phantom but its maximum module size of 4 means the scoop will be slow, so only really good as a bubble taxi. If you are not in a hurry, try exploring with an engineered Cobra Mk3 (jump range >50lys). The Asp Explorer is still a great exploration option.

I prefer the Vulture (fully engineered) or the Krait Mk2 for PVE, better maneouvreability than the Python.

You might want to unlock the Federation and Alliance ships at some point, which will give you further options.

You may also want to get a fleet carrier at some point. They are expensive to maintain and need tritium to jump. They can be a drain on finances and you will need approx 5bn credits for a minimum buy. Full functionality will cost a lot more and the maintenance will be about 25m credits a week.

Enjoy!

Sound as a pigeon, is the ED:MC set about right? Also this i assume always running with ED? Sooo many overlay plug in tools, any top 5 vital ones? Oh, also i am confused regarding the squad set up as in my game, i have no squad? Found 8 ppl in the LHB listing? Last one, lol, can you join multiple in game squads? Not bought Odyssy yet btw.. Cheers all!

Well, I'm back. After more than a year, I loaded up E:D again this evening. After some fumbling with the controls, during which time I did *not* crash into a star or a planet, I figured it all out again. Now if I can just remember all the utilities and tools I was using.

Hello from the always sunny-and-never-raining UK.

I played ED a while ago and then dropped off, but I got that itch to replay again, so naturally as you do, I deleted everything I had and started again. Ready to climb up that hill once more. This is my first foray into third party things so hopefully it will be a tad smoother of an experience.

I'm not incredible by any means, but I would be interested in playing with other people if you will have me.

Fly safe commanders!
