EpisparhShe is not that fast anymore - a cutter will have 190m/s disadvantage that will give you 31sec for long range rails abuse. The time with FDL would be 51sec.

FSD cooldown time is 5 seconds. High-wake charge time is 15 seconds flat, low-wake can be as short as 5 seconds if the ship is beyond mass lock range.

Is this a challenge or something? I can make a copy of my Lunge for the bubble.

Just pointing out that there may not be 31s for long range rail abuse, let alone 51s.

Why is your Courier so far away anyway?
01 Dec 2020, 12:51pm
Because I do not visit often Colonia and during my last visit I decided to move bunch of assets there just in case.

In any case, small ships are not very hard on resources to build ... I am just lazy nowadays and excuse myself with the lack of time since jumping on this new work related project.

I bet this question has been brought up before, but I'll ask it anyway: If you had to make a comparisson of every ship in E:D to another one in any other franchise (not by looks alone, but mostly by capabilities), what would it be? As an example let me bring up the one most people make:

The Cobra III is E:D's Millenium Falcon.

Are you saying that because of the shape, or the classic-ness?

Looking at your build in EDSY now. I see you're going for hull tank instead of high speed. Not sure if the Courier is an ideal choice for this approach, but I'm curious to see how it works out for you.

Anyway, if you want to practice interdictions, let me know. [/quote]

What is your mass and your top boost speed?

WIth that tanky build I survived a long time last night against his fully engineered ship, I got him down to 94% hull after 7/8 mins of fighting. I could get my guns on him much easier than he could on me.

Two reasons:

- It's the franchise's most iconic ship.
- It's a capable fighter AND hauler.

For a relatively cheap small ship, it has 1 of the best agility & boost velocities while also being able to haul a relatively large amount of cargo. Sure, there are small class ships that can do any 1 or 2 of those things better, but the combination, IMO, made it my choice when I 1st started out & I still keep it. It's also got a multi-crew capability.

Hauls what it can, fight what you can win, & run away from what you can't. I didn't bother with getting anything else after my starter Sidey, until I got to Lembava for the 15% discount.

Not being a combat type, & having nothing engineered so far.

The Cobra III is lovely. It was my first upgrade, before I really understood Outfitting, and the capabilities and performance of that ship, even stock, as compared to the Sidewinder really opened up the gam for me. It made me really look forward to the other ships for some future point, but it made the game a lot more enjoyable onto itself.

I haven't flown it in a very long time, because the ships that follow it are even better for how I prefer to play the game.

Which I guess makes me wonder why there isn't a specific set of activities only available to Small ships. Outposts don't offer a Large landing pad, and this adds richness to the game - some systems only have outposts, and trading with outposts can offer better per-ton trade and mission values, which encourage you to fly Medium ships. But there isn't anything strictly requiring the use of a small ship, and IMO that's a gap.

All true. I've heard some in system chat denigrate the Cobra as 'just a Sidey on steroids' but I had lots of fun flying the ol' Sidey too. Both ships I got way back while still in the Newb Zone, & I keep them for sentimental reasons.

Perhaps I ought to have them transferred to my current location, just to take them out for a spin again... it's been awhile...

Plus, my Cobra is my only ship in which I've had any ship-to-ship contact with another player in Open, when for some reason, another player flying a Viper tried ramming my Cobra 4x outside a station. I think they got the worst of it...

Funny that this has turned into a discussion about the Cobra III even though that was not my original question

By looks alone, the Python seems to have some generally similar design philosophies to the Anaconda, & the Anaconda bearing some vague similarities to the Corvette.

Between the 3, I think that the Conda looks most like the Imperial Cruiser in Star Wars. Long, triangle-like, & similarly cumbersome in handling.

Obviously this is just my opinion (I know there's going to be a lot of people that think the Krait is The Falcon).

The Keelback's the Falcon... cargo ship capable of combat.

DBX is The Razor Crest... fast, long jump range, Just enough room for cargo.

Corvette is The Normandy... 'cause it looks like it.

...I'd also say the DBX could be Slave 1 if the top was the front.

Not saying it can't be done with the Courier, it's just a much steeper hill to climb. The Courier has the third lowest hull mass (after Hauler and Sidewinder) and the fifth lowest armor hardness of all ships in the game (excluding SLFs) but a base shield strength on par with a Federal Assault Ship or an Alliance Crusader. It's the only ship to combine the benefits of enhanced performance thrusters and a class 4 power plant. It has the DNA of a high-speed shield tank, so turning it into something else might prove to be difficult.

But don't let that discourage you!

I run currently, 3A shields, loads of hull and mod reinforcements. when the 3a's go down slow to reload, I can seem to survive a little longer than with out. if I could get boost up to 600 mps then i think with her agility and 3 hard points, a hard ship to hit....
