Amata LireinDoes anyone know if this thing is in Elite?

Hmm, the Defiant Finger is a Bok Globule in the Carinae Nebulae. The nebula is in game, but that particular formation doesn't seem to be a part of it.

As was already mentioned... the game pretty much gives us the finger enough as it is, so it really doesn't need to be overt

Ok, fellow space cadets... OK, maybe not the best term... aspiring expanse-striders? Void pilots?

I think this is game-related, so, I'll ask here.

One of the major factors of my being unable to endure prolonged gameplay (this goes for any game, BTW) is that my mature backside gets rather sore from any more than a couple of hours in my rather ancient plain office chair... undeniably never designed or built for dedicated gaming.

So, I'm looking for recommendations for tried & approved gaming chairs by those in the community.

I've never shied away from spending on quality equipment, provided it doesn't come with a platinum price.

I'm looking at the Secretlab Titan XL Softweave but I'm open to your thoughts & comments; I make that an example of the type & price range I have in mind.

Let the responses commence!

I've been using a La-Z-Boy 1104593 Executive Chair but it tends to wear out with home office/gaming use after about 2-3 years. Not sure if that's a long lifespan or not. I'm small/light weight so you'd think it would last longer. Once it wears out you will notice an ever increasing strain on your butt

Standard Ikea stuff and over 80 kg of me... Yup, a big kitten... 3 years and still good and solid!

I got a cheap ass office chair from an office store and it's done me fine for far too many years.

Getting the height of the desk right and learning to sit up straight with back support lets me sit without problems. Get up often and walk or at least stand for a while as you make a brew, that helps as much as a chair that fits you in my experience.

I really want a Gutamaya accurate flight seat if I could have anything

I guess I'm spoiled by my car & truck seat (the latter is air-sprung, what I call an 'Air Chair')

I can sit for many hours in those & no sore/tired butt, although I still have to stop, get up & stretch my legs after many hours; by then my bladder is reminding me it needs a break too.

I'm not saying I'm looking at the XL model cuz I'm big (although I'm tall & large-framed for a female), but being built for heavier weights, & having a heavy-duty frame support & tilt mechanism, I figure it'll last longer.

Yup, that's my story & I'm stickin' with it.

I have the Secretlab Titan, in the leather fabric. It's firm, firm like a Mercedes seat, maybe a bit more so. It's pricy, but you get what you pay for. I'm of the opinion that anything you spend a lot of your time using is worth the investment. Chair, mattress, shoes, etc - if you go cheap on these things, you will feel it in the body.

This chair is comfortable, but after a full day in it, I tend to feel it. I don't have the greatest posture, I tend to slouch a bit and end up sitting on my tailbone. The chair reminds me not to do that.

It's also a deep chair. I'm 6'0 and 220lb (I can stand to drop a bit). The seat is the full length of my thigh, at 20" deep. So if you're much shorter, it may force you into a slouch because you just won't be able to get your hips all the way back on the seat.

It's a highly adjustable chair, but the one adjustment I wish it had that it lacks is the seat depth.

You can adjust the incline of the back and it has a nice sturdy cog for doing so. The back comes WAY forward - to a point you can't really sit in it, and it goes all the way back to about 45 degrees, it feels like you're laying flat - just put your feet on an Ottoman and you can sleep in it.

Once you lock the back at the desired angle, you can let the chair recline back on a spring. Notable is that the back and seat are locked at an angle and will both recline together at that angle - when you set the chair to recline on the spring it is NOT just the back that reclines as the seat stays flat.

Only change I've made to my chair is to put rollerblade-style wheels on it in place of the casters it comes with. They're more quiet and roll a bit more smoothly.

Prior to this chair, I had an All-Steel, and it was very comfortable and very adjustable, but it had a mesh back - great in summer but not great for support. Also, a design flaw where the metal frame of the back attached to the body of the chair with one screw on either side, about shoulder-height. Failure point, and after the screw broke there was no way of getting it out to make a replacement/repair - and once the chair starts flexing when you lean back, it's no longer usable. By comparison, the Secretlab design is very, very sturdy.

I definitely recommend the Titan chair, and have an XL on order for my wife. They seem to be back-ordered, and we're not expecting it (also leather) before June.

Agreed, they are an attractive choice. However, I don't like where they're made.

I'll keep looking.

Artie
MoonSeeker2020Ok, I ask again: how do I get 10,000 points for "The Explorer" medal?  How many planets or systems do I need to scan?

Thanks a lot

I am not entirely sure how exactly the game counts it. I think it's simply a number of scanned bodies, but that also probably includes auto-discovery of bodies like main stars. I certainly didn't manually scanned as much bodies as I have in my stats.

Hi Artie - this does seem to be broken for me. I've tried everything in-game and can't get the # Level-3 detailed scans to increase.... I'm sure you're a (very very) busy guy - but I'd be curious to know if anyone has 'achieved' the Tier 3 of the Explorer Badge in the last year...if they did - then I'll try to figure out how they did it...

The number that Inara shows is can be found directly in game in your Codex>Exploration Section. How ED determines your # of level 3 scans I'm still not sure on, but assuming Inara's number = ED's then the issue is with ED not Inara.

Yes, as said by Burstar, the number exactly corresponds to the number in the in-game stats and it seems to be stale to you for a while (according to the journals). I am not sure where the problem is, but certainly not on Inara. But also, I have achieved a thousand of points a two months back while finishing my exploration rank by doing usual stuff (exploring, sending probes to planets, etc.), so it certainly isn't some general long standing problem in the game. Maybe you are just probing the generally known planets in the Bubble, or so? It's best to go "outside" and... explore.

Amata LireinOkaaaaay... wtf? The stream is currently in a phase where the CMs even said "If you have any questions, ask away." So I ask "Question: Will we get more variations for non-English COVAS? I would a female German one. :/", reposting it after a few minutes as the question didn't get answered. All it got me was a 10min timeout... twice so far as I got another one after the first one ran out

Sooo... tried asking again in today's stream. Was contacted by a moderator who more or less told me that you're only allowed to ask a question once and if it's not answered: Tough luck.

Also: Suggestions like the one I have here should be directed to the suggestion-forums. There're a few threads about COVAS already there. All at least a year old and besides some trolls ridiculing those by adding stereotypical BS as "suggestions" no reactions from FDevs in any way...

Maybe, file it as a Bug ticket?

I did some quick testing at a FC with Cartographics out in the boonies. My observations:
All Scans are not credited in Codex until they've been turned in at the Cartographics office. Additionally, the Codex does not update until the NEXT time you dock at a station, or logout/login. It will not refresh instantanteously after turn in. This 1 station lag time for updates was a significant source of my frustrations with the data.

Keeping that in mind, my ship equipped with a Detailed Surface Scanner gave me both Level 2 and 3 scan credit for Proximity detecting a systems Main star and its 4 Asteroid clusters. So, pretty much anything that causes a 'discovered x' message on your panel will count for Level 3 scans at least. What exactly counts for Level 2 scans specifically I haven't bothered to look into yet, but I've done less of those than level 3s so that a clue that it's probably surface scanning with probes.

If I could have the air ride chair out of a modern John Deere tractor cab as an office chair I would buy it. Those things are sinfully comfortable.
