Elite: General talk

Yeah 4 pages in and her first actual answer starts with "So I can't comment too much in detail on some of what you're asking".

This 'honesty' schtick is just another ploy to keep people pulling on the slot lever. What we want is for FDEV to be OPEN and Honest. Then there's the issue of every time the CM's say 'we're being honest with you' it immediately triggers two thoughts:
1) SURE you are, and
2) apparently before you definitely weren't.

Also, I'm not 18. Flirting with hired guns is a fools errand.

BurstarThis 'honesty' schtick is just another ploy to keep people pulling on the slot lever.

Exactly my thoughts.

Frontier is playing "good cop/bad cop", but with CMs. Arf wields the banhammer, Sally hands out cookies and chats about... well, nothing in particular, but in a way that is super social. People respond by posting pictures, e.g. a sun with a happy baby face. It's surreal.

Yeah, pretty much the only thing I learned after 15 pages of skimming through orange posts was that apparently bug reports get automatically flagged as 'confirmed' if 10 or more post on it with a 'can replicate' flag. So, apparently posting anything without that flag is a waste of time, and I need to go over the list of known issues that are 7 years old and get people to all claim they can replicate it within a short enough time that it isn't invalidated otherwise they don't exist as far as FDev is concerned.

Edit: and yeah, that forum reeks of desperation.

Be that as it may, I still think we should encourage them to be more active like this as it gives us a more direct line to the devs either way. The alternative would be the CMs starting to think it's not worth their time and falling back to their prior "I-don't-give-a-fuck"-mentality of doing nothing at all. With a bit of luck we can get them in shape and be the CMs both us and the company need them to be.

Sadly test-by-user is a standard strategy for game devs nowadays.

They could've avoided so many complaints and PR issues by just labeling it Early-Access ...

Fun concept, will probably forever remain just a concept but it's fun to imagine: Elite Dangerous remastered with Unreal Engine 5.

Dumb question, but is there an easy way to see what Blueprints I have pinned from which engineers? Instead of traveling to every single one of them and looking maually?

Yep. In the panel to your right (I dunno what it's called, but it's the one that lets you see your inventory, fire groups, etc) the "Home" tab has a bunch of sections. Go to the Engineers section, and you can see your pinned blueprint for each engineer.

It's not the nicest UI - you have to go through each Engineer individually to see which ones you have pinned, but it does the job.

Edit - that's for Horizons, I've no idea if the Odyssey UI is different!

TywinNeed help.

I'm trying to customize the Event-Music by using EDDiscovery. Apparently you need the correct file-/eventnames for that. Can anybody tell me what these are?

Update:
No help needed anymore. Worked it out all by myself

Beagle Point journey progress report: Today I logged in and was surprised to see three friends online at the same time. This had become somewhat rare recently.

Then I noticed they were playing Horizons...

According to Steam, weekly peak player numbers are down to about 5,000. One year ago the number was 15,000. So we now have one third of last year's player base populating two galaxies instead of one. The rest appears to be off to other games, with NMS and SC being the most obvious alternatives.

I'm not yet ready to leave. Too lazy to upgrade my hardware for SC, too lazy to reconfigure yet another set of keybinds for left-handed use. And there's a story waiting to be completed.
