While I'm in agreement here, if it was some concept where it makes it so that going space mining made me real world money, that would be kind of cool.

Light-HawkAny chance I could see your source on that? Google is just giving "do you have COVID or the cold and how to tell?" articles.

The issue about COVID-19 in most of the cases is how easily it can spread and being indirect cause of death by triggering the already-existing illnesses that normally either wouldn't be so fatal... or not even surface at all through your entire life under normal circumstances.

People are ignorant to be honest and just because they are vaccinated they walk without masks, ignore distancing and do all sorts of stuff. Sure, the vaccine makes you safer but it does not change the fact you may (and will) chain-spread to people who may not be so lucky.

TL;DR: Indoors and without masks, the risk of infection after 5 minutes of exposure is almost 100%, even at a distance of 3m. If properly worn, FFP2 or KN95 masks reduce that risk to about 0.1%.

People were promised that if they just get the jab, they could take their masks off and return to a normal life. So that's what they are doing. The problem isn't ignorance but the dogmatic belief that scientists know everything right from the start, are incapable of error, and therefore must not be doubted.

When Omicron showed up in South Africa, vaxxers were quick to point out, "This is what happens when we leave three billion plus people unvaccinated." Now the science shows that Omicron is not only milder (in IFR terms) than even the flu, it also produces immunity against all other variants of SARS-CoV-2, something that none of the vaccines has managed to do. Bottom line: Everyone, vaxxed or not, will catch Omicron at some point, and that may well be the end of the pandemic. Further lockdowns will just delay the inevitable.

It is clear most people still do not understand what a vaccine even does or they would behave much differently. Most people do not want to gain an understanding for themselves about anything and just do what they are told by so-called "experts" without questioning anything. Ignorance is most definitely not bliss.

Please allow me not to get involved into the discussion then, as I might be too emotional given how many friends I lost during this pandemic.

This isn't entirely true. Whenever there is an infection, the virus replicates, and that is when mutations can occur. More infections, more chance of a successful mutation - hence why Omicron happened, because the virus is still able to replicate effectively in unvaccinated populations.

Luckily as you say, Omicron is milder. Unluckily, it's more transmissible, which means the same thing, more chance of another mutation. The risk of a dangerous mutation occurring will only be eliminated when enough people have been vaccinated. It's just that that applies globally, whereas each country's outlook is understandably going to be focused on their own. Lockdowns may buy us more time to vaccinate, but at this stage there's not a lot of appetite for that.

Provably false.

Please, not another Covid discussion again. As I mentioned before, it usually ends like discussions about politics, religions, etc....

Oh gross. Discussions like this remind me of my favorite meme of "independent" vax research via a phone whilst on a toilet.

Eventually all will be touched, regardless of the discussion. Too many vaccinated or healed for it not to happen. Matter of time.
