Dang, I wondered where were you when I was ganked yesterday in my AX ship.

Now it's clear. Get well soon, Covidshiro!

Yuna SakashiroCredit where credit is due. I didn't expect Disney to be able to pull this off, but here we are. "Andor" is the best Star Wars ever. No Jedi, no Sith, no light sabers, no gaping plot holes, no Mary Sue, no cute, no cringe, no "message". Star Wars for adults. Refreshing!

Warning: Kind of spoliery if you're not caught up.

Is this the actual trailer you posted? It looks more like a bad remake of a worse 1980s TV show. Mind you I'm talking about the trailer, I haven't watched the show, and after seeing this, I'm not sure I'd want to.

Nah, that's just a spoof.

I figured...

Star Wars as done in the style of the Buck Rodgers TV series. The only thing missing was a droid going, "Beedee, beedee."

Dude. This setup is incredible. Those monitors.

Quite embarrassing for Nvidia that it took them more than 10 years to develop a graphics card that can handle Star Citizen.

Next challenge for GPU manufacturers: a card that can into EDO 7680x1440@144Hz with max FPS. I bet it will be size of a fridge.

Also putting it out there, seeing at my 1070 is a POS for current games (including ED), I'm actively looking for a new one. I just can't decide if I'm going to try to build my own for the first time or just pay extra for a prebuilt. Looking like a 3080 might be doable. Maybe.

I usually build my own. And I am at a point when I have to; poor thing is getting <gotten> old. It's slipped from Recommended to minimum.

I browse the pre-builts to see what's available and compare to what I can do with the same money. Then I build one I like and budgeted for.

The difference is you get to pick up the parts while they are on sale, or part of a deal that goes with something else you want -- for example discount codes from buying games and such.

Edit

...and it's more fun.

Yeah, my last one I got was a prebuilt about 6 years ago from Cyberpower. Not a bad rig at all, but just can't handle top graphics and unoptimized games of the present. I'm pretty excited to try my hand at building, but ever so worried about screwing it up.

Something like pc builder can help. Pick a part and it shows all the compatible parts. Can be a bit overwhelming if you don't have a direction to start in. That's why I look at the available pre-builts first. Makes it easier if I know I need a nuc-plant sized cooling tower going in.

My husband built some of his earlier PCs. Not the latest one though. He says the only thing that takes special care is attaching the CPU heatsink, because you have to apply the right amount of thermal paste in a way that it doesn't lock in bubbles of air, and avoid scratching the top of the CPU. The rest is just inserting cards into sockets and plugging in some cables. This part has actually become easier in recent years because the old 5.25 and 3.5inch internal drives (HDD, DVD, floppy) have pretty much disappeared, to the point that most modern PC cases don't even have slots for them any more. SSDs get plugged into the main board like graphics cards.

He bought a new PC just recently but had the dealer assemble it this time. Core i7, RTX 3070, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD. Cyberpunk 2077 looks spectacular on it.

I plan to keep my old i5/1070/16/HDD rig a bit longer and then maybe choose a 4070 or 4060 next year when they become available.

Well, scratching the CPU cover is something that you need to do intentionally. I can't see a way when you can scratch it by the thermal paste tube or the radiator, only if you won't try to put it at some weird angle.

I had to finally breakdown and build a new system. My old one was just not cutting it anymore. Served me well for 8 years though. Loving my new PC though. Running any game, program etc at 4K with 120 FPS no problem. I can't believe what a huge difference NVMe drives make. Especially the GEN4 ones.
Well, here is my build if anyone is curious:
