ShabbyjNo INF or REP too Epi?

I haven't bothered with the CZs yet, but plan too this week.

Oh they give that but I am not much into BGS.

Ahh, a lot do. The BGS is a hell a lot of fun. Hard work, but fun.

I presumed they would be in line with current CZs - you win it and all good. One point for the faction you are supporting etc. So that is a huge plus for them for me.

Personally, it would depend on how quick I can do a on-foot CZ compared to the current ones. If there was not much in it, I would probably do both to make a change, especially at launch.

You get the same positive & negative rep as in a space CZ.

Currently (so assume not on release either) no mats are dropped by the downed opposition - but Combat bonds are not lost on 'death' and the 'bonus' from winning a high is 300,000 cr + bonds earned.

If massacre missions will be on a par with the space CZ and the mission isn't lost on death, ground combat could be relaxing and well-earning fun.

Wait, you can get mission for on foot CZ?

Fast travel in Odyssey confirmed: If you die on foot, you respawn in your current ship, even if it's lightyears away. Free of charge, too.

You can't sell all your ships. You may begin the game without a ship (or rather: with a Sidewinder that's deliberately hidden from you), but once you have a "current" ship, you can't sell it, unless you buy another ship and make that your "current" one instead.

Long distance Apex travel is quite expensive: Two hyperjumps with the Adder cost about 17,000 Cr. Frankly, I don't understand the point of Apex at all. It's such an utterly useless feature. They should have implemented an Apex autopilot computer instead.

I suppose that depends on the cost differential between summoning an owned ship and catching a taxi to retrieve it? I wonder what an Apex from Sol to Colonia might cost?

I do not understand much of rendering but from that video it looks that Odyssey performance is not matter of configuration adjustment but needs code optimisation.

This just adds more to my impression that all this is not anyway near a release state.

I'm wondering how they're going to bring all that to last-gen consoles.

Of course it isn't - it is almost totally without final optimisation, as was mentioned at the very beginning of the alpha!

You didn't expect, in all truth, to be playing a feature complete and optimised game in alpha test, did you?

While we test the game in its current state it is considerably easier for the developers to correct those annoying little things, once the code gets closer to release state the difficulty in fixing bugs increases.

I find it a surprisingly stable (bar the stupid 'revision' to Horizons SRV handling which appears to have 'broken' terrain detection!) state, even if performance is, in comparison to Horizons, very poor.

My thinking goes in the fashion that Phase 4, when our 'proper' CMDR is introduced into the game, will be more of a beta than alpha, and I'd hope that far more optimised coding will be apparent.

EpisparhWait, you can get mission for on foot CZ?

Not yet, but I assume, when Odyssey is released, that that certainly should be so.

Thanks for the response RC, I will have a go at the CZs today and I can see what they are about. o7

Yeah, I know that it is alpha and so on. But being into software development I know what can be changed in last moment and what cannot. And so far the problems are related to initial design decisions something that is near impossible to get changed in last moment.
Needless to say, I will be very happy if FDev prove me wrong, but I do not expect great improvement in the next two months. Maybe we will go as per plan and then have N patches in the following year.

I think they'll leave the Inter Astra cargo issue unfixed and instead create some lore around it to explain why Inter Astra discards all cargo before transferring a ship. A proper fix would require a fundamental design change that would ripple through many parts of the game code. I think it's too late for that now.

Btw, I'd like to test the multicrew SRV boarding once more to see if the crash was a one-time event or something that can be easily reproduced.

I will be online around 12:00-13:00 UTC if you want to bug my SRV again.
